We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.

United KingdomWe felt the evening meal was on the more expensive side. It really was delicious but 100 euros for 4 people without a choice is a little high.
Absolutely loved our suite - so beautiful! We also loved the rooftop terrace for cooling down in the pool! Said (I think the manager) was amazing and couldn’t do enough to help us! Even preparing a super early breakfast for us on our early departure and even walked us to our taxi with all our luggage! He is exceptional.

United KingdomNothing! Not a single bad word to say.
The riad was the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the Madina. Well looked after from the moment we stepped out of the taxi where Siad met us, and took us to the riad. Mint tea on arrival was a lovely touch after a long journey. The place itself is beautiful, from the rooms to the rooftop. The breakfast every morning was perfect. The location was great, the staff all very friendly. Siad always on hand to give recommendations and make sure we were ok! Our room was cleaned every single day with new towels. The shower was great! The room spacious and just felt so traditional. Would truly recommend this riad :-)

United KingdomEverything! The service and welcome from Said- the atmosphere - the room - amazing little apartment perfect for 4 friends. The area seems a bit creepy outside but its perfectly fine and we never felt scared- the place was like a little sanctuary after a day in the busy souks. Highly recommend and Said met us from our Taxi too!

United KingdomDar Akal is a beautiful riad and the two bedroom suite was perfect for a stay with my parents. It was much more spacious than in the photos and lovingly decorated. Said and the rest of the staff were incredibly helpful and our dinner at the riad was one of our best meals.

The Riad was simply wonderful . It’s like stepping into paradise after the busy medina. The decor is very tasteful with some beautiful authentic features. It is very quiet and relaxing. Breakfast on the roof terrace every morning was a treat. We had dinner at the riad on the first night which I recommend. Some of the best food we had. It’s the staff at the riad that are its greatest asset. The manager Said is elegant, friendly, very professional and unobtrusive. The ladies who cook and service the rooms every day looked after us so well. I have never experienced such a high level of hospitality

United KingdomAs some people mentioned, it is a little way down a maze of passages which some may find hard to reach, but we were fine and felt safe
Tastefully decorated and extremely clean. Highlights were sitting in the central courtyard for mint tea, as well as sunrise delicious breakfasts on the roof. Slightly too chilly for us to use the pool, but we dipped our toes in any case! Plenty of little nooks around the roof terrace or main downstairs areas to relax in the sun or read a book. A special mention to the staff who did everything to help make our stay special, particularly the manager Siad! He is a true gem. Made my mother’s stay with his kind gestures for her birthday. Thank you! Hope to stay again in the future!

Dar Akal is a calm and elegant oasis in the center of town. Beautifully decorated, speak and spam, with delicious breakfast which was different every day. We really enjoyed the pool and the terrace, which has separate private areas. The host was extremely helpful and gave us many useful tips. He organized for us airport pickup/drop off, welcome dinner, and an excursion the mountains. Would really recommend and would definitely stay there again!

United KingdomThis Riad is a gem! An absolute oasis in the middle of Marrakech chaos! It is tastefully decorated and is spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds. Said is an amazing host. He speaks 6 different languages (!!!) and makes sure your stay is as comfortable as possible! He is a busy man, but will treat you like you are family and gives you all the time and attention you need. He gave us great recommendations on where to eat and what to see in our short time. When we had a little issue with the heater in our room, Said was very quick to see into it and replaced the heaters for us very promptly. Dinner is delicious and well worth it! Breakfast is also good with great strong coffee (or tea). Would also recommend getting a transfer from the airport as it may be a little hard to find the place on your first day.

RomaniaCold walls, we stayed in February and it gets chilly during the night. Not such a big deal as tou can use the A/C for warm.
Traditional riad with all comfort needed. Beautifully decorated. Said was such a good host, helping us with everything: walked us to the riad from where the taxis lets you (edge of the Medina), arranged for the luggages to be carried to the riad, attentive all along.

His team is awesome too. The location is perfect. Inside the Medina, close to everything but still peaceful and relaxing. The rooms are spacious and perfectly clean. IrelandArriving at Dar Akal via the terracotta alleyways is an adventure in itself. Once stepping through the old wooden door you are literally transported into another world. The riad has beautiful, traditional features and oozes calm and serenity throughout. The scent of orange blossom greets you along with a bubbling water feature, large plants and trees in the central courtyard which is surrounded by relaxing areas and lounges. The rooms are all unique, comfortable and are cleaned everyday. The riad is so quiet and relaxing especially after a day out visiting the sites and wandering around the souks. All you can hear is the chattering of little birds from the rooftop. We were given a very warm welcome by Said and he helped us with maps and landmarks as well as recommendations of places to visit and eat at. He shared his local knowledge and would go out of his way to accommodate our every need. We especially enjoyed the breakfast on the terrace, over the 4 days it was always something different from local breads, chapatis, cakes, omelets, fruit salads, yogurts, juices and fresh marmalade. Watching the sun go down at the end of each day on the terrace with a pot of mint tea was one of our favourite parts of the day. The location was fantastic as you could walk to the souk, secret garden and Madrasa Ben Youssef to name a few but even though you were centrally located it was so quiet. The staff were fantastic and we felt very at home to the point where we really didn't want to leave. We cannot recommend Dar Akal enough and will definitely be returning!

Dar Akal was incredible, location is great (but the Medina noise melts as way you walk through the door of the riad!), beds are comfy, showers are great, facilities are absolutely beautiful! Said is so warm and welcoming. don’t be put off by the location as Said will orientate you when you arrive. Navigating the alleys to the riad turned out to by relatively simple, day and night! breakfast on the rooftop was lovely. Would return in an instant!
