Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomMinor things only!! We arrived late (19h30) so some bottles of water in the fridge would have been welcome. There's no aircon, so an electric fan or two would have been useful. If you're older, there's no handrail up to the terrace - it will mean hanging onto the wall, especially on the way down. Flies can become really annoying but that's not the fault of the villa (next time we will bring fly traps though). And finally, the sofa in the lounge is pretty hard, so there's nowhere inside the villa to relax and read a book, other than in a bedroom.
Lovely single-storey layout with 2 bedrooms separate from the main house below a terrace - perfect for sunsets. The other 2 bedrooms are connected to the main villa and overlook a gorgeous courtyard with dining table and fountain (wonderful at night with all the lights on!). The main house has the primary dining room, lounge and kitchen. The lounge leads out to a lovely outside covered dining table overlooking the wonderful pool area, which Abdou kept immaculate each evening. The villa is 15 minutes drive from both the local airport and Essaouira, and in 7 days, we only saw/heard 1 plane. Wifi was good (25Mb) with lots of different routers around the villa to use. Samira was an angel and her cooking was divine - especially a special birthday dinner she prepared - and her breakfasts kept us full until dinner! Yes, there's a regular call to prayer and cockerels that can wake you up - but neither bothered most of us after the first night. None of us would hesitate in staying again!

United KingdomNothing
It was a real home with gorgeous grounds, a beautiful pool area, a log fire and everything we could possibly want. A perfect little oasis with so much soul and charm. We have stayed in many villas in Essaouira and this is our favourite. It is incredible value for money and all the staff we met were so kind and attentive.

United KingdomNothing we loved it all
Dar mayssoun was a wonderful villa and the pictures don’t do it justice. From the pool area, to the roof top terrace, the boules area to the pretty shaded courtyard, there was nothing we didn’t fall in love with. Even the pet turtles our children loved to try and find everyday. Most of all were the staff - Said, Abdou, Samira and Raqiya. So helpful and so welcoming, with the ladies cooking us the most fabulous breakfasts and dinners, Said organising cabs, and Abdou meeting us late at night to make sure we found the villa and making sure the gardens were tidy. Plus owner Romain, who was a great host - arranging so much. He and his family have made Dar mayssoun a comfortable and well designed property and their little touches and great taste made all the difference. Essaouira itself was only a short car journey to the fabulous restaurants and medina, while that sleepy surf town and beach of Sidi Kauoki is also only 15 minutes drive away. All in all we had a fabulous family holiday and I hope we can return one day.

NetherlandsGreat quiet location just outside of essouaira. The amenities are amazing, from champagne glasses to citrus press. A perfect barbecue and great pool with sun until 6 in February. After that there is a sundeck to watch the sunset.

United KingdomAll was excellent
The house is absolutely gorgeous as are the grounds and pool area. It is kept immaculate by the staff and they are so friendly and will help with anything they can! We enquired where we can buy charcoal for the BBQ and then it was brought to us by the caretaker within ten minutes! So kind! His wife also made us delicious breakfasts daily, all from scratch with fresh ingredients. The pool is fabulous and we all had great fun using it. Also there are plenty of pool towels available to use. It was such a treat to stay in this beautiful house and experience the tranquility of the area. Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful home from home!
