How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewFrom the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the riad. It beautifully combined traditional charm with modern comfort. The hand soaps and shower gels had a lovely fragrance, and the attention to detail throughout the space was clear. We always had an ample supply of fresh, clean towels, and the room was consistently kept spotless. On days when we chose to sleep in and didn’t require full housekeeping, the staff still thoughtfully removed the rubbish, replenished towels, toilet tissue, and replaced the shower gel—leaving the rest of the room just as we had left it, which we greatly appreciated. The riad offered a tranquil retreat from the vibrant energy of the Medina—a perfect place to rest at night or take a peaceful break during the midday heat. We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay and would happily return. Thank you for a lovely experience.
Although the breakfast was enjoyable, it was quite limited—essentially consisting of three delicious traditional Moroccan breads, along with strawberry and apricot jam, orange juice, a yoghurt pot, and Mint tea or coffee. It would have been nice to have the option, even at an additional cost, to include extras such as eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, and a higher-quality cheese rather than processed cream cheese packets. If such options had been available, we likely would have chosen them. Providing a simple printed menu in multiple languages could also help guests make choices more easily, especially given occasional language barriers. The beds were slightly more comfortable than others we experienced during our stay in Morocco, but still quite firm. I did reach out to the very responsive host to ask about the possibility of adding a mattress pad, as both my husband and I were having trouble sleeping. We were informed that most guests found the beds comfortable, so we had expected softer mattresses, which unfortunately was not the case for us. Additionally, the placement of the bed directly across from the bathroom made it difficult to avoid the light from streetlamps outside, which came through the bathroom window at night. A simple shade, cloth covering, or wooden slats could help reduce this light and make the room more conducive to restful sleep. That said, the room itself was lovely, relaxing, and thoughtfully presented. With a few small improvements, it could be even more comfortable for future guests.

Verified reviewThe staff was super helpful, friendly, makes feel like home . Room super clean. Soap, shampoo smelled good, bed is comfy
Location was hard to find, cars not allowed to enter the city thus had to go through long walk with my bags , small dirty roads with lots of garbage everywhere. Was scared at the begging to move around but then had my friends walking me in and out. Stayed only for 2 days.

Verified reviewThe property is well maintained and the traditional design is great. If looking for a nice cultural experience I definitely recommend.
If you’re more accustomed to a typical hotel room, certain aspects of the property — such as the bathroom being inside the bedroom, the room size, and the low soundproofing of the walls — might bother you.

Verified reviewThe property itself is beautiful and perfectly located. The design is modern chic European, not Moroccan in anyway - which is fine.
Do not visit or stay here during the month of Ramadan. The owner, and staff were not able to offer Suhoor (pre-dawn breakfast) for us to start our fast. Disappointing as we did not eat the usual breakfast, and had a hard time finding food. Given Morocco is a Muslim country, and everyone here fasts, it appears this place is more suited for non-Muslims or those who do not fast.

Verified reviewIt is in the center of the old town. Very good location for market shopping and enjoying the city. Good hot shower (although water splashes all over) and good wifi. The atmosphere is nice with a cute courtyard, if you are there for exotic experience it is nice.
The owner (or hotel house keeper) insisted on paying with cash, and refused to take a credit card. He made me walk to an ATM at 11pm to extract cash. Although, it seemed like his salary was coming from the cash payment and he looked very desperate, I do not blame the worker. The room was cold and right next to the courtyard with limited privacy (a glass door with curtain), but it seems that is standard for this price and location. No gluten free breakfast options.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. You wanted to pay in dollars, and we kindly told you that we only take payments with credit card or dirhams. You decided to go out to get some cash. However, you paid in dollars and dirhams, unfortunately leaving us no choice and we accepted. Every day you are informed of what will be offered to you for breakfast the day before, we of course offer gluten-free breakfast on request. Sincerely MaryseM

Verified reviewWe had a peaceful and memorable stay at Riad Dar Zen in Rabat. After parking just outside the Medina, it was an easy 5-minute walk to the riad. We were welcomed with tea and sweets, one of only two places in Morocco to offer this gesture, which we truly appreciated. The riad is modern, clean, and beautiful, with just a few rooms, creating a tranquil atmosphere. Our room didn’t have a TV, and the shower was in the room itself, which we found refreshing and unique. The riad’s location is excellent, close to the market and key attractions. We left early and missed breakfast, but if you’re looking for peace and tranquility, this is the perfect place to stay.
Just a heads-up for tall people—I bumped my head on a metal handle above the room door and drew some blood, so be careful!

Verified reviewClean and simple decoration , very comfortable . The location is convenient , but not noisy around . You can buy snacks outside the alley , or take a walk in the city , try restaurants where the locals eat . It’s quite close to Carrefour , you can buy a lot of Moroccan daily necessities .
The bathroom and bed are in the same space , closer than what we saw on booking . May feel a little uncomfortable when taking a shower .
