How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

There were 2 bathrooms just for more than 30 people or more. They were not really cleaned. Bring always your flip flops!The shower was in the same place as the toilet. The breakfast was ok.
The double bed was comfortable and it was very quiet at night! People there was nice and kind.

The bathrooms in the private rooms do not have a separate shower cabin; you’re literally showering standing next to the toilet while holding the showerhead over your head (there’s nowhere to hang it up on the wall either). The matress was fine for me but I can imagine it being a bit hard for other people.
The staff was excellent, the hostel is not crazy-loud but has enough people coming through for there to be a nice social atmosphere. The private room that I stayed in had windows on either side so it was nice and bright inside.

The bed was too hard for us. The breakfast area was to dark and small. Roof top needed more care.

Too little toilets/showers related the amount of beds. Dorm was little and packed. Wifi wasn't working at all and mobile network only works in 3rd floor.

Showers/ toilet often flooded, views from terrace lovely, but not best in city by a longshot.

Don't know what happened to the rooftop but it doesn't look like in the photos. No lights, no carpets, just some grey sofas. Bummer because this could have been a nice spot to hangout in with other people but it just felt cold and unwelcoming. A few plants, lights and cushions would go a long way. For the first night we had a private room with shared bathroom and that bed was soo cozy. Then we moved into a room with private bathroom and the mattress was so hard, it felt like sleeping on the floor. I love hard mattresses but this one destroyed our hips and backs. The room itself was very nice though!
Most of the staff were super friendly and welcoming (the younger guys). We had a private room which was very cozy and clean. Breakfast was made by a super nice lady and it was delicious. The location is great and we loved the overall vibe of the house.

the rooms were really dingy at the basement level with no natural light. If you go up a few levels you can get to the terrace

A little cramped and no mirror downstairs but these are minor details.
Great location close to the bus station and medina. Lovely staff, fabulous rooftop. Breakfast was delicious and filling.

- Common areas are really limited so I wouldn't recommend this hostel for a solo traveller. The one common area is really tiny so you can't really 'hang out' there to bump into other travellers or even just to relax. This same area is where breakfast is served and there just isn't enough space for everyone to have breakfast together comfortably. - I was in a private deluxe double room. As mentioned in many previous reviews, the toilet/shower room is tiny. I am 5ft3 and I could barely fit in there. Someone tall would not even be able to sit comfortably on the toilet and close the door. There isn't a separate shower space so the toilet gets completely wet when you take a shower.
- Breakfast was great for a hostel breakfast. Really enjoyed the pancakes! - The private deluxe double room was modern (by Essouira standards) and spacious (except the toilet....!).

Loved my very short stay! Only spent 1 night but the staff were so lovely and the space is really cute and clean. Super nice rooftop for breakfast in the morning and located in the heart of the Medina, found it easily with maps. I’d definitely stay again ☺️

I read a few reviews complaining about the fact there are only two bathrooms, but went ahead and booked it anyway. And yes there are only two bathrooms, but it didn’t impact me negatively whatsoever. So for me - it was OK, I showered and shaved every day. The ground floor dorm where I stayed can get a little busy being close to the reception area - but that’s why ear plugs were invented - and if you are travelling and staying in dorms without earplugs then perhaps you should go buy a pair or reconsider your life choices. Didn’t use the small terrace.
The staff… incredibly helpful. Lovely little communal seating area for breakfast and socialising. Really central location. Really great value for money.

Bunks are too lower, no reading lights and sockets to hand ie near to the beds bottom & top. No T.V working. On the Terrace no lounges, good to have for the people who have *disabilities.*
