How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewDespite these challenges, it is worth mentioning that the natural beauty of Imlil was breathtaking. The mountain views were stunning, and the local people were warm, friendly, and always greeted us with smiles. Children played happily, waving at us whenever we passed by. The locals made us feel welcome, leaving a positive impression of the area itself. I would still recommend visiting Imlil it is a wonderful destination with amazing scenery and kind-hearted people. Just make sure to carefully choose the right property for your stay.
Upon our arrival at the Imlil Mountains, we were four girls carrying a significant amount of luggage. We quickly realized we were lost, unfamiliar with the area and unsure of how to reach the property. Our initial excitement began to fade as confusion set in. Desperate for assistance, we contacted the woman responsible for the place where we had made our reservation. However, instead of a reassuring response, she informed us that she was in the city center and could not help. Despite our repeated explanations that we were four young women lost and struggling with our bags, she seemed reluctant to offer support. After several calls, one of us, overwhelmed by the situation, firmly insisted that we needed help. Reluctantly, she promised to send someone. Yet, after a long, tense wait, no one appeared. Determined not to let fear take over, we struggled with our luggage, navigating the steep, rugged mountain stairs. These stairs, characteristic of mountain terrain, were irregular, large, and uneven each step demanding effort and caution. At last, we found the property, but the woman we had spoken to was nowhere to be seen. Instead, two young girls likely her children were present. They did not ask for our identification, simply noted our names, and directed us to our rooms. Our accommodations did not match our expectations. The rooms were separated one upstairs and the other downstairs. This arrangement was far from ideal for four girls who had hoped to stay together. When the woman finally arrived, we requested a change, explaining our wish to be closer. She dismissed our concerns, stating that this setup was what we had booked. Our interaction became strained when she brought up a particular comment one of us had mentioned over the phone that we were "in the middle of nowhere." This phrase seemed to offend her, perhaps because she interpreted it as an insult to the area.

Verified reviewBeautiful hotel with stunning views. Hotel is difficult to get to as its up the hill with limited transport so you feel stranded, taxi costs 100d (3 minutes from Imlil to Tamatert + walk to hotel) where taxi from Marrakech to Imlil is 50d (1.5hrs). Host lady was lovely but poor management, the shower was freezing so we used another room which was awkward and still cold. No set menu so the male manager made up prices which were double than in town. We still enjoyed our stay and the hikes are incredible!

Verified reviewCleanliness: The property itself was impeccably clean, which was a major plus. It's clear that the staff takes pride in maintaining a tidy and hygienic environment. Friendly Staff: The staff members were consistently friendly and helpful. They were always willing to assist with any requests and contributed to a positive atmosphere. Stunning Views: The view from the property was absolutely breathtaking. It was a highlight of my stay and definitely a selling point for this location.
Difficult Access & Location: The property's location, while offering beautiful views, is a major disadvantage. It's quite far from the city center, and the lack of clear directions made finding it initially very challenging. The road leading to the property is also in poor condition, making the journey difficult, especially if you're walking. This isolation makes it difficult to access other dining options or amenities independently. Breakfast Quality: While breakfast was included in the price, it was unfortunately disappointing, especially considering the cost of the stay. The limited selection lacked variety and essential items. Specifically, the absence of eggs and soup, common breakfast staples, was noticeable. The overall quality of the breakfast did not justify its inclusion in the price. Overpriced Food & Exploitation of Location: Due to the remote location and challenging access to the city center, the property seems to take advantage of guests' limited options when it comes to food. The prices for meals offered at the property are excessively high, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. For example, charging 50 DH for a small soup, one egg, and three dates is simply not reasonable and feels exploitative. This pricing strategy feels particularly unfair given the lack of alternative dining options nearby.

Verified reviewKasam is absolutely hospitable to us!!! He cooks amazing 3 course dinner and breakfast, after a long day hike, this is exactly what we needed. The staffs helped us with luggages when we trying to reach the location. The terrace view is great.
This place doesn’t have WiFi, which is very good for digital detox, not a complaint but I wish I knew it before I book. Location. We entered through Imlil Lodge (same company) and we were hosted with tea before going to the actual place. This place sits uphill with lots of stairs that we need to walk. Electricity. The whole area had power cuts once every 40 mins when we arrived after 6pm. This is a general infrastructure problem, not a complaint. The people were very helpful in set us with candle lights during dinner, kinda cool in some ways.

Verified reviewOur host Ayoub was kind and friendly. He met our taxi and carried our luggage, walked us to and from Imlil so we could get dinner, took us on a hike, we had mint tea at his cousin’s house and he made our breakfast both days. He speaks enough English to chat about his life and the villages. The accommodation is good, with decent bathroom and comfortable and clean bedding. But Ayoub makes it a special experience.
You have to walk to Imlil for lunch and dinner. It’s at least 2km which was a long walk uphill after dinner and a day of walking. Our kids aged 11 and 14 found that tiring.

It is further from Imlil than we had expected. A 40 minute walk to the village. Access is a little tricky with a steep uneven path

Verified reviewStaying at Kasbah Imlil has been the highlight of our trip to Morroco- Hasan’s hospitality was faultless. His tagines were absolutely delicious and the breakfasts were the best we’ve had. He helped us organise a day trek with a local guide also called Hasan which we would highly recommend, as well as help organise a taxi back to Marrakesh. He looked after us from the minute we arrived and we can’t thank him enough. The property is located in a beautiful quiet location, about a 15/20 minute walk uphill from the centre of Imlil. The roof terrace was the perfect place to relax with a mint tea after walking all day (and to star gaze at night!) A must if you are planning on visiting Imlil.

Verified reviewThe view is something you won’t experience so often. Man, such beauty, overwhelming, surreal, purity… You wake up with view towards the deep valley and mountains. Only thing waking up by was a chicken yelling in my ear, he started at night, only to humor about afterwards. Doesn’t matter for what you get in return for it, perhaps a natural way of waking up, screaming me awake a bit later would’ve been more convenient though, but this is something noone can do anything about, but the chicken. Staff was lovely, very welcoming and could arrange anything needed (transport, guides for walks etc). The walk up to the Kasbah was a rather confronting experience for my stamina, though. Especially for this price, must see, at all costs. Dinner was just what is needed as well, very good. Thanks thanks thanks

Verified reviewWe absolutely LOVED our stay at this Riad!! We were treated with such kindness and welcome by Elias and everybody at the Riad, and received all of our meals in the house, except when we decided to eat in Imlil village. The whole experience was fantastic value and has been our favourite booking from our whole trip in Morocco. Also thank you to Lahsen, our guide who so kindly took us on our hike in the mountains, and made our experience even better! A special mention to Elias for going above and beyond to make our stay the best it could be.

Verified reviewGreat location and beautiful surrounding atmosphere. The scenery was breath taking. We had the friendliest and most helpful receptionist and staff ever. Kaltoum welcomed us in the best way possible and made sure we had the best stay in Imlil. Everything about the hotel was exceptional. It was clean and comfortable. We also had the chance to meet Lahssen who was our guide during our stay. He was really nice. We’ve enjoyed our hike with him as he was very knowledgeable, has numerous behind the scenes stories and plenty of experience that made this hike truly an unique and unforgettable one. I HIGHLY recommend and I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future.

Verified reviewKasbah Imlil was the best booking we’ve made through Booking.com! Khartoum was absolutely amazing, meeting us in Imlil and taking us to the property herself. The bed was unbelievably comfortable which was very much needed after a long hike up Mount Toubkal. Khartoum also organised everything for us on the day of our arrival, our guide for Toubkal, our suppers and helped us with our taxis to and from Marrakech. The house is beautiful, with incredible views of Imlil, and I would highly recommend staying up in the village Tamatert at Kasbah Imlil rather than in Imlil itself. It’s very quick to walk down into Imlil and it is much quieter and more beautiful just the 15 minute walk above Imlil. I cannot rate Kasbah Imlil more highly as a place to stay! Thank you so much :)

Verified reviewThe location, the accommodation and the breakfast were good.
The owner tried to fix (faux?) guides for us, although we already had an appointment with someone else doing the Toubkal tour. He kept asking questions about our guide and set this up. When we confronted him, all of a sudden he didn't spoke any word of English anymore. Sad.
Dear Sander, Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We sincerely apologize for the unfortunate experience you had during your stay with us. We'd like to address the concerns raised in your review. Firstly, we want to clarify that the person you encountered was not the hotel owner, but rather an ex-host who used to work with us and has since become a guide. Around the time of your visit, our regular host was on a well-deserved vacation, and the property owner himself was managing operations. However, due to an unexpected family emergency, the owner had to leave the property for a few days. In an effort to ensure all our guests' needs were met, we contacted the ex-host turned guide to help with any necessary arrangements. Unfortunately, this decision led to the situation you described, where he offered alternative trekking options despite you already having plans with another guide. We understand how frustrating and uncomfortable this must have been for you, and we truly regret any inconvenience caused. Rest assured that we have addressed this matter internally, and we will be revising our protocols to ensure such incidents do not recur. We value your trust in us and are committed to providing a positive experience for all our guests. We apologize for the lapse in communication and for not being able to offer you the seamless service we strive for. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we will use it to improve our guest experience moving forward. If there's anything else you would like to discuss or if there's any way we can make it up to you, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly. We hope you will consider giving us another opportunity to host you in the future and showcase the true hospitality we are known for. Thank you for your understanding and for giving us the chance to address this matter. Warm regards, Elias Reservations manager Kasbah Imlil

Verified reviewwhen we arrived to the property, passing through Imlil, we were a bit worried we were a lot further from Imlil than we’d expected and we thought it might be inconvenient. But we realised that the location is a lot nicer than being in Imlil itself as all meals are available at the guesthouse, the views are much better than from Imlil, and when you do walk into Imlil it’s not hard to arrange a mule for the kids to ride back up the hill! Kahtoum was very kind and helpful and it was a lovely spot with a comfortable terrace. The wonderful guides of Trek Atlas were able to start our 2-day trek from the guesthouse door
in the family room the bathroom door was very loud and creaky which disturbed everyone, but I’m sure that’s an easy fix with some oil!
