Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SpainEverything was fine
This place has been very comfortable for us in our stay. If we come back to Essaouira another time, we will come back to this place for sure! Redouane has been very caring with us, he greated us with some Mororccan tea, he gave us tips to manage along in the city and he even helped us booking the taxi for the airport. It has been a pleasure!

United KingdomReduane welcomed us instantly and was a marvellous host. We felt like family and hope to return one day! A few problems with picking up the key which was out of his control. Despite that, La Symbiose is in a great area of Essaouira, close to the Medina but in a beautiful local area. We ended up staying an extra 4 days and I'm so glad we did. Thank you!

GermanyEverything was perfect, we will definitely come back!!
This was for sure the best Guesthouse on our Journey through Marroko! Its close to the Medina and to the beach! The room is big and quite and you have a lot of space, and also a little couch! We had an amazing sleep in the big bed! And the highlight was the Host of the house, such a lovely and respectful Person! You have to try his homemade Food, so delishes and authentic, you will always remember the good taste! Thank you for the good time with you and your cat snoopy! And also for the amazing breakfast on your terrace!

United KingdomThe bath shower could do with a curtain to stop splashing water on the floor but a floor mat is provided to soak it up.
Redouane was a lovely friendly host and let me use the washing line on the roof to dry some clothes. He prepared a tasty tagine when I arrived after cycling and made me feel welcome. It's a homestay so don't expect high quality facilities like hotels. Lovely and quiet at night even though only 5min from Madina.

The location and room were absolutely perfect. The bed is very comfortable, plenty of fresh air, strong internet, hot water and kind host. What else could you possibly need or want? The location is perfect, close to the Medina but also close to local restaurants and shops where there, you'll pay half the price!

SlovakiaI chose the place mostly based on the internet reviews. However, the internet provider had issues and it didn't work throughout my entire stay which was bad luck for me. It can happen. Also, the room had always bad air inside, maybe due to humidity or moisture, it wasn't fresh even when I opened the window. I like good air in the room.
It's located in a quiet neighbourhood away from medina so if you like such places it's great for you. I appreciated the possibility of an early check-in due to my work schedule. Laundry was possible, it cost 4 euros. The room was spacious. All in all, a pleasant stay despite some issues.

New ZealandThe booking description read like it was a regular guesthouse and the room came with a "private kitchen" and a "shared bathroom" (see my screenshot photos). I was happy to share the bathroom, but my MAIN priority was the PRIVATE kitchen. I'm vegetarian, a non-smoker and non-drinker. I like to keep things clean, and didn't want to dress for male strangers. The "private kitchen" turned out to be completely FALSE. It belonged to the owner, a 51yo Moroccan Muslim man who was quite passive aggressive, though I could use it. For the first of my 11 nights it was just him, me, and his cat in the house and I didn't feel comfortable. Then his French girlfriend, her teenaged son, and another cat arrived. I felt safer, but then there were more people sharing the bathroom and kitchen, which were not always kept very clean. I can't recommend this place at all due to the unpleasant nature of the Moroccan-French couple, the false booking description, and because I didn't have Wifi in my room as THEY "needed it upstairs". It was also quite noisy, with children playing outside my window as late as 11pm and people beginning work early. I had to ask the owner to turn on the gas for hot water, which wasn't always possible if he'd gone out. (I tried to do it myself but I couldn't make it work.) My room wasn't cheaper than a beautiful, clean, spacious room in the historic medina (where I've stayed many times before) so I made a bad choice, all because I trusted that I was getting my own 'private' kitchen. I am sympathetic to people who are struggling and have to rent out a room for money, but you must remember that they are in control and you are totally powerless. The property wasn't registered for tourism, the man said. I doubt there are any police checks done, and the 3 euro per night bed tax probably went into the man's pocket. C'est la vie.
The cats were nice.
