How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewPosition just inside the Medina, 2 mins walking time from the blue gate. Staff was great, they gave us a map and explained how to get to the main attractions

Verified reviewAmazing staff firstly. Ibrahim spent time during our arrival and provided first class information and a detailed map of the Fes medina. His knowledge is invaluable and will make the visit a success. Moroccan breakfast was served by the pool. Music played around the pool during the day which was great. There is a car park 'next door' to the hotel (40MAD per day) but we parked literally outside the rear door to the hotel, so if you are arriving by car, this hotel is an excellent choice. Leave the hotel via the 'other' door and you are in the heart of the medina, so the location is really, really good.
Aircon wasn't super cold in the bedroom, but it was ok.

Verified reviewSuperb staff - Hassan & Ibrahim were really nice and told us all of the sights. They also organised a taxi for us to the bus station and a guide for the medino tour. Superb location - one side of the hotel is onto the outside of the medina, so your taxi driver can drop you really close, whereas the other side of the hotel walks straight onto the main medina, meaning you get the best of both worlds. Superb stay - the room was really big and nice ano cold which was great for the August heat. The pool area and restaurant was also really nice. The breakfast was also one of the best we've had in Morocco, really varied so there is something for everyone. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Verified reviewThe location was fabulous. Right in the heart of the medina. The staff were available to answer any questions by message (pre arrival) and face to face after arrival, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Hassan and Hamid were brilliant and made us feel so comfortable. In fact ALL of the personel were amazing. The room was so comfortable and the air conditioning was amazing. We were so glad to have the use of the swimming pool and loungers as the weather was so warm. Breakfast was perfect with such food. We will return.
Everything was amazing!

Verified reviewThe location is perfect if you travel by car, parking behind the hotel. The Riad gives you access to the Medina, perfect location if you visit the old city. the staff is absolutely amazing, perfect service and very kind staff. Breakfast very good and the Tajine is amazing( make sure you order ahead so they can prep) Hamman good
The furniture on the terras, the pool beds are all a bit tatty and need to be fixed or replaced. The pool was green and the water was milky, not sure if this is a Moroccan thing, we had it before in another hotel. You couldn’t see the bottom. The room was small, the bed was comfortable. The ceiling had holes and staines(leak). Very small wardrobe The bathroom was tiny, the shower was a modern massage type but the water came out everywhere, due to limescale, no door so bathroom was flooded, water didn’t drain well. There was a bathmat on the floor we were not sure if it was clean. The toiletbrush was broken(half) and therefore it was impossible to clean the toilet after use. With a little upgrade this place has a lot of potential. Paint the ceilings, basic shower, maintenance and keep the traditional Moroccan vibe)natural materials, little baskets etc

Verified reviewThe staff was 5 stars. And I rarely give 5 stars to anything. The riad has also a perfect location, with an exit right to a large parking and another straight to the heart of the medina. The terrace and the pool are the perfect refuge to relax or to entertain the kids after walking around in the bustling medina. The riad also works as a restaurant so it's a very nice choice to have some (or all) of your meals.
The only thing that I can complain about is that the curtains allowed for too much light to enter the rooms right after sunset. The bathroom was perhaps a little too tight for a couple, even if I understand that cosy house divisions are part of the charm of a riad. The breakfast was quite good but I missed some kind of meat, like ham or sausages.

Verified reviewA magnificent hotel in a superb location. One entrance leads directly from the parking area, while the other takes you straight into the old town - perfect for exploring! The breakfast was delicious, and the swimming pool was a lovely bonus. To our delight, we were upgraded to a much better room than the one we had originally booked, completely free of charge. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and genuinely friendly, which made our stay even more enjoyable

Verified reviewThis place is nice because of its helpful and very kind staff. Apart from that, it really needs maintenance and refurbishment, and probably some direction to provide a better customer experience. The location is really convenient, close to a parking lot and inside the medina, and it has to be said, it's quite cheap in comparison to other riads.

Room had a mini fridge and the AC unit worked great. Kids loved the cats and tortoises. Access easily from paid public parking behind property.

Verified reviewThis hotel was a life saver. We arrived in Fes when Morocco was having a major heatwave. Palais Shazam was a beautiful oasis. The staff are really sweet and helpful. We ate every night at the restaurant and food was good and reasonable priced. The room and bathroom were big and aircon worked well. Breakfast was good, and the location is amazing, right in the medina but backs onto a car park, so very easy to get to from the car park. The taxi dropped us outside the car park and 2 minutes later we were at Palais Shazam.
Nothing.

Verified reviewWe had an amazing time at Palais Shazam Spa. The location is perfect – right on the edge of the medina, so you’re close to everything without being in the middle of the hustle and bustle. It’s just a 5-minute walk to the Blue Gate, one of the main entrances to the old city. The staff (Ibrahim & Mohammed) were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready with advice or assistance. Our room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable – a great place to relax after a full day exploring Fes. All in all, a fantastic place to stay – highly recommended!

Verified reviewI did get this accommodation at a special price, which certainly made it value for money, and I'm not sure about the full price. The Palais' position in the Medina, quite close to the Blue Gate, made for an excellent location, although not so easy to find in the first instance. The room was large and the bed to my liking. I was very comfortable. The pool was a wonderful place to pass a couple of hours in the heat of the afternoon. It was calm and quiet, a place of real respite after spending the morning exploring the Medina and some of the more important sites. The staff were lovely, kind and helpful, and the food was generally good.
Nothing.
