How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe had a lovely time in the Riad with very welcoming hosts (cat and litter of kittens included) and a very clean and beautiful room. We felt taken care of at every point and the riad was the perfect homebase for exploring the medina. We walked everywhere and never had to walk for more than a half hour to visit what we wanted to see or find a good place to eat. All in all we had a wonderfull stay and felt welcome and taken care of in every way
We have zero complaints

Verified reviewThe Host Youssef (we spell it as Yousaf) is so friendly and helping. He made our stay best in every possible way. Breakfast was amazing, His guidance about Marrakesh was great. He also showed us nearby store, took us to main road! Indicated signs to follow for reaching property. The property is in the street, You have to find your way! No so difficult though. AC works, washroom was fine.
Ventilation of the building can be slightly improved! Although not a big issue

Verified reviewYousuf, the manager was very helpful. His help was above and beyond the call of duty
The property has many traditional features. I don’t think there is much scope to change it e.g there is no door between bedroom/toilet and bedroom.

Verified reviewThe food was great, and so was the service. The man in charge was incredibly kind and welcoming. We had a great stay and appreciated his generosity. Because there are only a couple of rooms for guests, the place is small, nice and quiet and not overwhelmed by too many tourists and people. I liked the coziness of the place and how it felt remote from the hustle and bustle of the loud and overwhelming streets in the city center of Marrakesh. But this place was hidden from the chaos and felt more peaceful and quiet. Also his little grey cat is the cutest and most gentle little cat.

Verified reviewThe property is well located and has a traditional riad feel to it. The riad cat is also very friendly and Youseff was very welcoming. All staff were helpful and answered any questions we had. Overall the property is very good value for money and we had a very pleasant stay. Miu the cat has also recently had baby kittens and so hopefully if you are visiting over the next few weeks you will be able to meet them.
Nothing. Only thing which could possibly be improved is a sign on the front door stating the name of the Riad- although it is easy enough to find with the door number.

Verified reviewOur stay in Riad Ahlsouss was amazing from start to finish. Spacious room, very comfortable bed, super quiet location, delicious breakfast and the sweetest resident kitty. The owner, Youssef, is a very kind man and stepped in to help us when we lost all hope and didn’t know what to do in a certain situation. We can’t thank him enough and can’t wait to return in July!
Nothing, everything is absolutely perfect and a lot, lot better than other riads in the area.

Verified reviewWe stayed at Riad Ahlsouss for 7 nights. This is a lovely little riad in a great location. The manager, Youseff, arranged a taxi for us from the airport and then met us at the road to show us the way through the medina. At first the route seemed complicated but Youseff made it really simple and we never got lost once during our stay. There are only 3 guest rooms at the riad. It is a real oasis of calm in the madness of Marrakech. In the morning we were awoken by the sound of birdsong - very idyllic. Our room was quite small but very quirky and traditional. It was also very clean. We had a lovely breakfast every morning, freshly prepared, a great start to the day. There is a great space on the roof terrace to sit and chill out. The lady who takes care of the housekeeping does an amazing job and kept our room spotless and well serviced. She also did some laundry for us - an absolute star. We really enjoyed our stay at Riad Ahlsouss. Youseff was a first class host. We were definitely well looked after. The cat, Neo, also added to the overall experience - very entertaining 😀. Thank you for a great stay. Highly recommended.
The room was on the small side so it made it a bit difficult for two older, more rounded people, to get in and out of bed 😀. The stairs up to the room may prove challenging for anyone with mobility issues. There is only a curtain separating the bathroom from the main room so if you are not on intimate terms with your travel partner that could be an issue! These things did not really bother us too much but might be a problem for some travellers so worth noting.

Verified reviewAmazing riad. Great traditional rooms, everything was clean. The assistant-host Miu made sure to check on us if we were enjoying our stay. And Youssef is an amazing host, gave us a lot of informations and tips. We really enjoyed the traditional breakfast. Definitely recommend. As a tip for everyone who will stay in the future: Google maps will not help you very much, so just follow the signs for “Riad des etoiles” until you reach the tree black plant pots on the left, then turn right and walk in the “maze” until you will see a door with 95 written on it.
