How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewMohamed was an exceptionally hospitable host. He has gone above and beyond to make me feel welcomed to the property. I arrived quite late, and it was not possible to get any food or water at that time from outside. He made me some tea and warm break and cheese, which was a lovely and much appreciated gesture.
The location is about 20-30 min walk from Souks and the main square, and the neighborhood could feel a little intimidating: teenagers telling you all the time that you cannot go here and there because you are not Muslim. I have been told several times not to go back to Riad because it is near mosque and it's a "forbidden area" for tourists. Obviously, that is not true, but it was annoying to be confronted by this youth pretty much every time I walked to/from the souks. Also, it was very noisy at night, until around 12/1 AM. But that can be the case in the rest of Medina.

Verified reviewRiad Amely was very worth it. The host made our experience much better. He was very helpful, helped us get everything we needed like a SIM card, water and answered any questions we had. He even walked with us out to our taxi the first couple times to show us the way. The rooms and beds were clean.

Verified reviewOnly a short walk into the medina. The woman and young man were excellent staff.
The light fixtures had been removed from the wall. The floor and rug were very dirty. The sockets to plug things in and charge your phone are behind the headboard, so you need to remove the headboard and sleep with it away from you if you want to charge something while you sleep. This is easy enough because its not actually attached to the bed. The location is awkward to get to each night if you come from the medina. Although there is an easy way in and out to outside the wall a five minute walk north. The owner grabbed a child from outside by the throat and shouted at him after the child was very helpful to us. We did not complete our stay here and checked out on the 2nd of 6 nights.

Verified reviewThe staff was something else, Zayed (our host) was very friendly and helpful. He made sure that we had plans each day, made sure that we were comfortable at the riad. He was the reason that I wanted to write a nice review.

Verified reviewWe recently had the pleasure of staying at Riad Amely, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by zayed, who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and happiness throughout our stay. His hospitality was unparalleled—he truly treated us like family. What made our stay exceptional was Zayed’s incredible attention to detail. Whether it was recommending local spots, organizing activities, or preparing delicious tea to unwind after a day of exploring, Said made every effort to make us feel at home. His kindness and dedication to providing an amazing experience were evident in every interaction. If you’re looking for a place to stay that is hosted by someone who genuinely cares about your experience, Riad Amely is the perfect choice. Thank you, zayed, for making our trip so special! We can’t wait to return.

Verified reviewWe liked the staff which were nice and helpful. Also the mint tea was amazing everytime.
Location wise was a bit far from the streets (10-15min by foot), the area was scary. We got followed by kids asking questions and money everytime we went back to the Riad. The room it self did not appear so degraded in the photos as it is in reality. Walls need repair, sockets coming out, most of the light bulbs are fused, there is no good outside lighting coming in the room, there is a constant foul smell coming from the shower drain (which we needed to cover and close the door to prevent it), the toilet seat was loose. No amenities were provided as well as when we arrived (later that expected) no towels or toilet were ready. Only after we came back in the evening (only 1 was given at the time). Hygiene wise it was not good at all. Breakfast was not included in our package, however the staff asked us what time we wanted it the next day without informing beforehand how much it would be. We then asked and it is 5€. We cancelled by our personall preference. We did not enjoy Marrakech...

Verified reviewA kind staff member showed me the way through the medina at 6am to meet my taxi for the airport.
The sheets and bath towel was stained. The bathroom smelt very bad and was very dirty. There was a hole in the wall where a window should have been, meaning lots of mosquitos came in.

Verified reviewThe staff are very friendly and somewhat helpful, however a language barrier did hinder us a bit. The riad is away from the loud streets and tucked away in a nice corner. The room and bathroom were kept clean as well. The shared bathroom was kept tidy and clean, despite it being shared. Beds were comfortable and sheets were clean. The location (most important IMO) was a bit of a walk but was easy enough to find. The riad is in a more residential area which made it feel more comfortable because people were not hasseling us to buy junk. The manager also shared great tips and helped us book an amazing excursion to mourzuga at a heavily discounted price (highly recommend booking the experience via the manager). The AC worked well and after a long day in the main square, was highly appreciated. I would book again upon my next trip to Marrakesh.
The staff must both let you in and out of the riad, this was not as bad as it sounds but we did have to wait a few times.

Verified reviewThe location is a bit out of the way but a pleasant walk to the main square.
To enter and exit require you to wait for someone to let you in and out. Several times we were delayed, the longest waiting 15 minutes to be able to leave because no one was around with a key.

Verified reviewOur stay here was faultless. The riad was beautiful and we had a lovely welcome when we arrived. Room was decent size and had everything as described. We didn't have breakfast but it was available at 50MAD per person. It is located more within the local neighbourhood of the medina but we found this to be a bonus to our trip to see a little of Marrakech away from the tourist centre.
Some hand soap in the bathroom would be good.
