How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewBeautiful setting created a quiet calm oasis in the bustle of Marrakesh - family run by Mohamed and Amin, the whole team are super attentive and willing to help. Rooms are great, pool is lovely and cool, rooftop terrace for freshly made breakfast is a lovely start to the day.

Verified reviewThis was a very, very good stay. The decor of the riad was lovely, the whole place felt serene and secluded despite the bustle of the city, the pool was cool and refreshing, the breakfast was plentiful and really good, the gents who worked there were so accommodating, constantly available on whatsapp or around the riad-- they gave us juices and waters without asking every day, they even packed our breakfast for us last second when we booked a tour despite the fact I literally whatsapped about it at midnight the night before. The room was spacious, clean, well decorated. Overall a really luxurious stay!
The AC did not work 100%. We were there in the hottest months, so I suppose the AC is strong enough for the temperatures of most months, but it did not work well enough against the 100 degree July heat to get the temperature below 80 Fahrenheit at night.

For most of the year the AC works perfectly, though July and August can feel warmer than expected, especially at night. We’re so pleased that overall you found your stay luxurious and welcoming, and we’d love to host you again in the future.

Verified reviewWe enjoyed our whole stay here in Riad Botanica. Everything felt luxurious while also being homely. I’m quite particular with hotel sheets, pillows, and mattresses and the ones they provide here are top notch! Also, I’d like to point out that their airconditioner here works and really cools the room. I’m just saying this to help other people looking for a riad here in Marrakech because unfortunately, I find that although plenty of establishments have aircon, not all blast enough cool air. The location is also great as it’s in good walking distance to the main sights. Whenever we felt tired and hot after shopping - it’s easy - we’d just walk back around 10-15 minutes to the hotel and rest before going out again. You can also get taxis 3-5 mins away from the hotel - as tourists we’re usually charged around 50 dirhams. The free breakfast provided are so generous and we’re always full each time. Many thanks also to Amine and the team for being so kind - they went above and beyond just to make our whole stay comfortable.

Verified reviewThe Riad is absolutely beautiful , pristine , sparkling clean and smells absolutely gorgeous the moment you walk in the door . We loved that it is a stones throw away from the bustling souks but is so quiet inside you would never know . The breakfast was lovely , staff lovely . We had a lovely welcome and were made to feel right at home. It really is a lovely little peaceful haven to come back to after a busy day in the souks and square . Ameen was the most friendly , knowledgable host and nothing was too much trouble for him. We also felt really safe and secure throughout our stay. The decor is so tasteful and a great mix of modern and traditional and the roof terrace is perfect to catch a few rays with a good book. We cant wait to come back.

Safety & Location Marrakech is considered one of the safest destinations in Africa, with Morocco ranked 28th globally for tourist safety by the World Economic Forum in 2024 — ahead of the UK, Germany, and France. Our riad is located in the peaceful Bab Doukkala district, a well-respected and community-oriented part of the Medina. As with any unfamiliar city, returning late at night after a big night out can feel disorienting — but most of our solo guests, including many first-time visitors, describe feeling safe, supported, and welcomed in the area. During your short stay, you arrived with an unusually large number of suitcases and, unfortunately, disturbed other guests on more than one occasion with late-night music and noise. These issues were addressed by our team respectfully and directly, in line with our commitment to ensuring a peaceful environment for all. Our riad is intimate by design, and we have clear house guidelines to maintain the comfort of all guests. While we welcome everyone warmly, we also have a responsibility to maintain a respectful, private and relaxing atmosphere, which is at the heart of why so many choose to stay with us. Riad Botanica is proud to be featured in Condé Nast Traveller’s Top 10 Hotels in Morocco. We’ve welcomed guests from all over the world, many solo, many repeat and this is our first 6 where as we have received over 380 10/10 and five-star reviews across platforms. We’re grateful for this support and stand confidently behind the experience we offer. We understand that every traveller has different expectations, and not every destination is the right match for everyone. We believe that outling other complains was the reason for the low score, however, we wish you well in your future travels.

The location to the riad ,coming home alone in the night is quite scary....Breakfast was very poor, cheap, and not worth the high price i paid for the accommodation....The staff weren't helpful, and I had to get help from staff of a riad next door..(For English speaking visitors to this riad, you are going to find it hard communicating)..I just did not feel welcomed, loved, or well attended to.. I just felt alone..not a good place for.solo travellers...as there is no staff willing to assist or attend to your needs...

Verified reviewRiad was very clean and was ascetically designed. It was really nice but not sure it was worth the extra money.
Email correspondence was a little laboured beforehand, with a number of my emails unanswered. The Riad lacked any sort of atmosphere and there was only 1 member of staff around which you couldn't always find. We were in the room by the birds, which were covered at 10.30pm, but still were quite loud through the night. Our room was small and very dark (suggest a lighted magnifying mirror in the bathroom). I accept they have bigger rooms. One morning we had an early start so went up for breakfast at 8am but no staff turned up until 8.30am, so we had to leave early without finishing. Location was OK - felt safe walking back at night. Rooftop area was nice but very small.

Riad Botanica is a peaceful, design-led space focused on calm, reflection, and a connection to the local environment. We are not a full-service hotel or party-style accommodation, and we often receive feedback from guests who appreciate the quiet atmosphere and chill music. And at times we’ve even had guests ask for music to be turned down. Our team is intentionally small, offering discreet service to maintain privacy and tranquillity. Staff are always available on whats app which was used during your arrival. Our 6 members of staff are always around, in the kitchen, laundry etc. during operating hours, and we encourage guests speak with us directly for any requests or send a text. Breakfast service begins at 8:30am, as clearly outlined online and in the welcome information provided on arrival. Early or takeaway breakfasts are always available when arranged in advance, and this is a common option we offer you just need to ask. We are looking into other brighter and sustainable lighting for the rooms so thanks for the feedback. The birds are wonderful and we just love them they are a huge part of the Riad stay and immediately calm and provide a connection to the outdoors. As is typical in open-air riads within the Medina, that's the charm. Thank you again for staying with us. Verified reviewWe stayed for two nights and we really enjoyed it! The design is stunning, the location is super convenient for exploring, and the ambiance of the home is serene and relaxing. The porter met us and helped carry our bags when we checked in and when we checked out. The breakfast was always fresh and so delicious. The owners were incredibly kind, making us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived.
We stayed in one of the smallest rooms so it was a bit tight.
