How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe stayed only one night at the Riad and we had to leave early to the airport. But the breakfast was very good and I wish we could have enjoyed it with more time. Thank you Hassan!

Verified reviewGood location, hassan was lovely and made us feel very welcome.
Hot tub was dirty so could not use. The room did get a little cold at night and they promised to pick us up at the airport but nobody was there so was left waiting.

Verified reviewMy stay at Riad del Selen was truly enjoyable. Hassan welcomed us warmly with traditional Moroccan tea and biscuits upon arrival, making us feel at home right away. Although we arrived late at night, he also took the time to explain the best routes to all the tourist attractions. They provide a delicious breakfast with different options (milk, coffee, juice, fruits, bread etc.) and always asked about our breakfast time preferences. On the day we had an early morning trip, he thoughtfully prepared everything with great care before we left for our trip. The riad was exceptionally clean and had only a few rooms, which made for a peaceful and comfortable stay. Both the bedroom and bathroom were spotless, with fresh towels, daily maintenance, and complimentary bottled water provided. The roof top is a good place to relax, we loved to stay there some times. The location was convenient, just a straight walk down the main street, and in about 20 minutes, we reached Jemaa el-Fna and other key tourist spots. I truly appreciated my time here and highly recommend Riad del Selen to anyone visiting Marrakech! A big thank you for Hassan and time.
My only suggestion is to provide an additional hair dryer for guests share. They provide one for share and for me it wasn't a problem didn't have one in our room, but it would be helpful to have more available, as some guests may not return it promptly, limiting access for others.

Verified reviewThe staff was very helpful and served a lovely meal. There is a lovely downstairs area with a dining table and a chimney. The breakfast is good but could be varied.
Our room was damp and smelled of drain. There was no view of the medina from the terrace.

Verified reviewThe riad is beautiful, a great and subtle mix of western and Moroccan styles. Feels more like a home than a hotel. Super quiet despite being so close to a very busy road. Hassan was a such great host, always available and ready to help us with our questions and requests, and making great suggestions. Makes a great difference when staying in such a busy city!
The location of the Riad was not easy to find using Google maps or similar as it states to be in the main street but in reality, it sits in a parallel alley. Due to a miscommunication, Hassan could not meet us at Bab Aylan but thankfully a local man was very kind to give us the directions.

Verified reviewCould not have a better choise considering it was our first days in Marrakesh. The host Hassan was Superb, he meet us at the Medina´s gate despite the late hour due to our flight delay and received us with some Tea and morrocan pastery handling our check in and sharing very useful recomendations for the following days pinpointing them in the map. The breakfast was very good, quality and variety were according to moroccan hospitality high standards.
Just a recomendation, the photos could be updated. They remain ilustrative of the conditions but could be a bit misleading for some picky mindsets.

Verified reviewFantastic Riad in a local neighbourhood within the medina that is at walking distance from all major sights in Marrakech. The room and hotel facilities were fantastic and very stylish. The breakfast was great, but I would certainly also recommend ordering dinner for the evening at the Riad. We had 4 different dishes, and they were all super tasty. Big thank you to Hassan en Jamila, who were super helpful and friendly. They made our stay even better.

Verified reviewRiad Dar Selen is a lovely riad with inner courtyard and roof terrace, not too far from the main square – room was clean and spacious and the shower was great (even equipped with shampoo and shower gel!) Hassan, the host, was always helpful and attentive. I was well looked after by him and Jamila who prepared lovely breakfast. As I was travelling solo, I particularly appreciated the fact that Hassan met me at the taxi on arrival at the medina gate. I highly recommend this riad!

Verified reviewHassan was very helpful and organized for us all of the taxis and a day trip to Ouzud Waterfalls. The Riad itself is very nice, especially the inner courtyard and the roof terrace. The breakfast was tasty and not lacking in quantity. Generally a pleasant stay overall!
In Morocco there are more people speaking french than english, which made the communication sometimes challenging, but nothing that could not be solved with a google translate )
