How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewIsolated and peaceful location. Large beautifully-situated pool with a calm and shaded terrace around it. Friendly atmosphere. Good breakfast. Bar available. The owner was friendly (in French) and gave us some good local tips. No mosquitoes!
The reception and rooms feel dated and could do with a refresh. On arrival one member of staff attempted to significantly overcharge us - this was explained as a calculation error and it might have been an innocent mistake, but still made a poor first impression when we were tired from the journey. We slept in an insulated wooden room on the roof which got hot in the day, although it was fine at night.

The only thing about the upstairs family rooms is that the bathroom is open to the main bedroom so privacy is an issue. Ok if you have small kids but with teenagers a bit tricky. Breakfast was a little basic would be nice to include some eggs and fruit maybe. But good coffee, lovely homemade bread and fresh orange juice served.

Verified reviewI was not sure what to expect from Paradise Valley based on the reviews I had read. But I was really pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the location of Riad D'Olivier was, how peaceful it was, how delicious the meals were, and how kind and helpful the owner and staff was. We arrived at Riad D'Olivier after a long, twisty, hairpin turned, drive from Essaouira, and we were ready to relax. When we arrived we were greeted by Hafid and Saaidi, who settled us in and served us some mint tea. We arranged for some dinner at the Riad, and Hafid prepared us a delicious seafood paella. We later met Marc, the owner, who was a wonderfully friendly and interesting fellow, and we stayed at dinner some time chatting with him. The next day, after an excellent breakfast, we planned to head out for the Paradise Valley walk, but Hafid suggested a different route and offered to guide us. We took him up on his (very reasonably priced) offer, and are we ever glad we did. Rather than head into Paradise Valley from the more crowded lower route, Hafid took us in from up above the waterfalls. It was a gorgeous walk with pretty views all along and plenty of water in the river. I didn't expect to swim due to the temperature, but it was just to beautiful not to jump in at the end.
I could easily have spent another night in this location. I wish I had.

Verified reviewLocation was stunning. I loved the eclectic decor. Very homely. The food was authentic and very tasty. Helpful advice from staff on a place to go for a walk and see a less touristic, nearby canyon and pool system.
The bedroom was quite cold in the evening - I understand, it is winter, and the cosy bedcovers adequately compensated.

Loved lying in the hammock by the pool and the staff were just amazing, so welcoming and nothing was a hasstle for them! Hamid specifically was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, organising a little hiking trip and also driving down to the local shop to grab supplies. The property was extremely clean and well kept, rooms were lovely, cosy but spacious. Got a taxi from Agadir airport but should have asked the property as they do an airport transfer for much cheaper!

Verified reviewFrom the moment we walked in we were made to feel like home. The pool and view are STUNNING. Hafid offered us drinks throughout the day and was so hospitable. If you want to drink beer, this is available too at a reasonable price. The room is basic but cozy and has the most amazing views. Highly recommend.
