How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewTariq and her staff are lovely and really helpful which makes you feel at home. It´s a perfect cozy place to explore Marrakech, it´s close to everything . Beautifully decorated , the gorgeus rooftop is a plus. Scrumptious breakfast. Ten out of ten.

Verified reviewThe staff was amazing and very accommodating. The riad is beautiful and central. The beds we're very comfortable and the breakfast was always fresh.
The photos suggested the pool had some space to lounge, but it doesn't. It still is a beautiful pool, but there's no space to lay down or sunbathe near it (there are beds in the terrace, 2 floors above the pool floor)

Verified reviewTariq was a fantastic host and could not have made us feel anymore at home than he did.
If I was to be very picky, probably needs a new air conditioner. It worked fine but has seen better days.

Street outside was noisy with kids on motorbikes & playing football late. Would of liked tea & coffee making facilities in the room

Verified reviewWe had an amazing stay at Riad Hugo. It is conveniently located in a quieter part of the Medina, which is welcome after a day in the hustle and bustle of the narrow streets and souks. The immediate area also feels very safe, you're in walking distance of many of the main attractions and also close taxi drop off/pick up. The Riad itself is beautiful inside. It is small and homely, and the rooms are comfortable. We enjoyed spending time on the roof terrace, eating the delicious and fresh Moroccan breakfast while taking the morning sun. Tariq is a genuine and lovely guy, and an excellent host - he's always there if you have questions or need help/tips, and we really enjoyed chatting to him. Highly recommended! D&N

Verified reviewFrom the moment we booked, Tariq couldn’t have been more helpful, sorting transfers from and to the airport and giving us all the information and advice we needed. It was our 3rd trip to Morocco and Riad Hugo was a fantastic home during our stay in Marrakech, near El Badi pallace and 10 mins walk away from the main really busy part of the medina, which made it blissfully quiet. The house is beautifully furnished and has all the elegant character of an old riad, with a lovely roof terrace for relaxing, and a small plunge pool which we didn’t need but in the summer heat would be great. We spent a lot of time chatting about pretty much everything with Tariq, who is an exceptional host, a gentleman, as the driver said. We’d definitely be very happy to stay with him again.
There was nothing to dislike at all.

Verified reviewStaff is very welcoming and helped me with the best day plans and helped us when asked.
There was some street fight on the first night which I could see from rooms window but this is very rare as far I have in marrakesh. Room had some small cockroaches on the floor.

Verified reviewA perfect little palace. Tareq had been communicating with us on WhatsApp to arrange trips but was away so Joaud looked after us. He was amazing and such a nice man - greeted us with mint tea and snacks and helped us navigate the medina. Good to have a sense of adventure to stay in medina although area seemed safe and I slept well in very comfy bed. Also loved the tiled bath. Simple but delicious and fresh Moroccan breakast on the terrace. Just 15 min walk from the big square with lively entertainment. Beautiful place.

Verified reviewWe loved the authenticity of Riad Hugo. It’s very pretty, with a lovely rooftop and breakfast room. Tariq is an exceptional host and was happy to help when we had questions or needed a taxi. It’s in a good location, about a 15 minute walk from the main square but the souks on the way (and just round the corner) were our favourite as it was quieter and less intense. I’d recommend Riad Hugo to anyone going to Marrakesh

Verified reviewTariq who checked us in was amazing we were welcomed with a wonderful assortment of traditional snacks and fresh brewed pot of tea. We stayed for our baby moon the room had been adorned with rose petals. He was always so welcome and helped us with recommendations and booking activities. You could not find a better host or Riad in Marrakech. I would come back anytime and will highly recommend this as the place to stay. It's a hidden gem nestled away in a quiet spot with east access and walking distance to all the main attractions and main square.

Verified reviewThe property was absolutely beautiful, exactly like the images online! Everything you would expect to work worked, Air con, hot water etc. so much effort has been put into the design and details of the riad. Very close to the centre of Marrakech but not to close, quiet of an evening, lovely rooftop terrace. Only 20 mins from the airport. We didn’t want to leave ! Tariq was a fantastic host, very helpful with information on how to have the best time In Marrakech. We eat at a lot of places in Marrakech but actually the meal we had at the riad was in our opinion the best meal we had of the whole trip. Breakfast each morning was also very good. For the price we paid and for exceptional service we got me and my wife wouldn’t recommend anywhere else to stay in Marrakech. We will be re booking for next year!
Nothing, honestly couldn’t pick a single fault if I had to. The attention to detail was amazing.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was delicious and varied every day. The location had great historical atmosphere and was close to some major sites. Above all, our host was amazing and treated us like friends as well as honoured guests, arranging meals and trips, and even sending guides to rescue us when we got lost.
Only the lighting! This is always the same in hotel accommodation, not only here - too dim to read in comfort.

Verified reviewTariq (the host) was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He made us feel welcome the second we walked through the riad's door. He arranged drivers for excursions and recommended lots of good activities, sights, and restaurants. The location/area felt very safe with lots of riads nearby and there were plenty of shops to purchase water or snacks from as well. We enjoyed chatting with Tariq and the other guests at breakfast and whilst enjoying the riad. We were truly made to feel at home and can't wait to go back!

Tariq is an exceptional host who genuinely loves what he does and is dedicated to making his guests feel comfortable. It's so nice to meet such people. I can say that everything was wonderful.
