How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe had a wonderful stay at this charming riad in Marrakech. The rooms are beautifully decorated with lots of character and such a sweet, welcoming atmosphere. Everything was clean, cozy, and full of Moroccan charm. Our host Iyub was incredibly attentive and kind. He even helped us book a tour late at night for the next day and personally walked us to the meeting point – such amazing service! We truly felt cared for and very comfortable throughout our stay. Thank you so much for the hospitality – we would definitely come back and highly recommend this riad to anyone visiting Marrakech!

Verified reviewRiad Imilchil was perfect for a stay in Marrakesh. It was central and easy to access all the sights. Ayoub and Ismael were perfect hosts and accompanied us on our first trip out to make sure we knew everything was. There is a lovely roof terrace to relax if you need a rest from the heat and business of the day.

Verified reviewGood place, near the city centre, amazing location. Ayoub was a great guest, ready to help and provided some wonderful insights about the city, its culture, and history. He arranged tours, taxis, and provided advice on how to explore Marrakesh The riad had a homely atmosphere with typical Moroccan architecture, with a terrace with views all over the city. Very close to the central market square, but also relaxing and quiet. Breakfast was lovely and consisted of various Moroccan breads, omelette, fruit, juice, and cake.

Verified reviewVery good location, close to everything. Can be hard to find for first visit, we arrived in the evening, the sign was not obvious. The super kind size bed was awesome! Very comfortable. The clearness can be improved, as there are stains on the sitting chair. One of the wardrobe, it stinks if the door opens, we didn’t see anything unusual, looks like extra pillows, but it really stinks, you won’t smell it if the doors shut. Bathroom basin drain was so slow. The funniest thing is there no where to hang the shower, you literally have to hold the shower head to wash. There is no lift in the Riad, this isn’t a problem, you need to lift you luggage yourself through the narrow stairs, we live on the top of the Riad, there are two suits, the one on the ground floor is new refurbished, the one we lived on the top floor needs upgrades. Breakfast was good. Ayoub was the only staff during the time we stayed, he was so busy, we can see he works so hard to make sure everything goes right. I rated as 10 because of we were asked for few times this means a lot to them. Also for all those hardworking people work at that Riads. But for the money I paid, I would expected something better compared with other to accommodation we stay in Chechaouen and Fes. But it’s Marrakesh, understandable!

Verified reviewThe hospitality was amazing, from the minute we walked in to when we left. As mentioned in the other reviews, Ayoub was a brilliant host. He assisted us with everything we needed, went out of his way to make us a specific breakfast, he made us mint tea as and when we asked. He sat with us and spoke like he was one of our long lost friends. The riad was amazingly clean and traditional. It had all the facilities that were required. Comfortable beds and avery traditional bathroom. It is located about 3-4mims walk to Bahia Palace. The souks are also about 7-8mins walk.
Everything was perfect.

Verified reviewThe riad staff - Ayoub and Ismael- were excellent; very attentive, friendly and full of great suggestions for local places to visit, eat etc. ❤ Location is good, 15 min walk down narrow streets to Jemaa el Fna (main square), although keep your eyes open for mopeds whizzing past! 🏍 Nothing was ever a problem at the Riad, superb hospitality and kindness from everyone there. The accomodation is simple, functional and comfortable; often a welcome retreat from the intensity of downtown Marrakech. Breakfast was delicious: local breads, juice butter, jam, Amlou (an argan and peanut butter) fruit, yoghurt, eggs, coffee and wondeful crepes. We really enjoyed our stay at Riad Imilchil. Many thanks to all the staff there 🙏
This not really a complaint, perhaps just an observation of some cultural differences. If you are used to European /American standards of customer service, you may find the Moroccan hospitality experience a little slow, multitasking doesn't seem to be favoured, so things often arrive one at a time and in their own good time! However, as we settled in and dropped our expectations, we soon grew accustomed to the gentler pace of North African life and maybe even learned something about patience and gratitude for what we have and receive. Also, those more accustomed to being ignored in shops and the fixed-price sales method, may find the near constant bothering and invitations to haggle a bit much. It is novel at first, but even my wife - who enjoys getting a bargain - eventually found it annoying as it actually made buying gifts a bit stressful. Again, these are cultural differences and not complaints, but perhaps something to consider if you have have not been to Morocco before. 🙏
