How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNice decor, very comfy beds.
This used to be a very nice hotel, but it got neglected. Why does the owner not maintain his property?? It would not take a lot of effort or expense and this could be a great hotel, but as it is, I will not be staying again. An example is the breakfast on the rooftop. The breakfast itself is only just acceptable, cooked by the cleaning staff, but there are only two proper tables and chairs/ benches to sit on. If these are taken, you are expected to sit on filthy, damp seat cushions that have never been cleaned and eat off dirty pallets serving for tables. See picture. Not really acceptable at all!!

Verified reviewGood location in the centre of the old medina. Good vibes of an authentic riad.
Compared to other riads we stayed at in the past years, this one was very basic. We chose it because the breakfast was included but the breakfast was ok but nothing special. Fresh orange juice, hot drink, an egg and “petit pain” from a shop. No home made msemen or home made bread for example. The room was basic, beds were ok but not really comfortable. In the bathroom, nothing to hang the towels to for example. The bedsheets were clean. The room itself and bathroom seemed to have been cleaned superficially only.

Verified reviewBreakfast was good. Stuff are friendly and the atmosphere is good, but I got a very noisy room. People didn't stop talking and shouting outside until 1 in the morning
Noisy room due to outside hectic area. Old bed that keeps making noise whenever you move.

Verified reviewLocated in the very heart of Essaouira's Medina, Riad Le Grande Large is a taste of authentic Morocco. Staff very helpful and pleasant, which adds to the aura of calm when you step through the door. Simple but well cooked breakfast on the rooftop terrace is another bonus, as was the comfortable bed.
Nothing not to like: It is as described by Booking.com and in this review.

Verified reviewExcellent breakfast and really welcoming staff. Lovely food terrace and perfect location.
Rooms could do with having a chair and more clothes hangers in the wardrobe for people staying staying more than a couple of nights.

Verified reviewthe location was convenient, and the breakfast was quite good.
I recently stayed at this hotel and was very disappointed with the condition of the room. The toilet was not properly cleaned, and there was an orange stain under the basin, which looked quite unhygienic. Even worse, water was leaking from the basin, which made the bathroom floor constantly wet. I reported this issue to the receptionist, but unfortunately, no action was taken during my stay. The lamp in the room was extremely old and rusted, and the curtains were ripped and looked neglected. It’s clear that the room needs proper repairs and maintenance. On a positive note, the location was convenient, and the breakfast was quite good. However, the overall experience was let down by the poor condition of the room and the lack of response from staff. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously for future guests.

Verified reviewFull kitchen. Large supermarket about 6 blocks away.
The location is in what appears an industrial park with many dirt or unpaved roads. The flat is also part of a huge complex with a dozen buildings. At first, it was tricky to find your way around. Also it's located about three kilometers from the Medina, a long walk. The flat itself is rather shoddy.
Hello Madam, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. However, we would like to point out that you have chosen the wrong accommodation. Riad Le Grand Large is not a flat; we are a riad located in the heart of the medina. It is likely another accommodation, but it is not ours. Sincerely, Riad Le Grand Large

Verified reviewThe basin in the bathroom had debris left by the taps, and it was really off-putting. The shower floor was very rough. The worst things was the raving drunks on the street outside at night - kept me from sleeping. To top it all, one of the drunks continued his raving the following morning at 6.15am and woke me up. I'm sorry to say I will not go there again.
