How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewAbraham was great, very friendly and gave great recommendations for things to do and places to eat. Breakfast was also great, I looked forward to that each morning! Location was also great.
Beds were very hard.

Verified reviewBeautifully designed riad. Stylish furniture and decor throughout. Nice breakfast. Convenient location for the medina.
Beds not super clean. Bedding ok, but pillows and mattresses not as clean as they should be. The approach to the riad is very off putting. The alleys around are full of rubble and poorly lit. The room we had was impossible to ventilate with air from outside without opening doors and windows to the corridor leading to neighbouring rooms. We didn’t feel safe leaving these open at night. The air conditioning was too noisy to use at night.

Verified reviewOur room at Riad le J was large and comfortable and the rooftop terrace was a beautiful spot for relaxing and watching the sunset. Breakfast was plentiful although there there didn't seem to be much choice. The Riad is right in the heart of the medina, so close to a lot of the main attractions and good places to eat. It was beautifully furnished in quite a formal style, always a surprise to find such places down twisty alleys.
We were travelling from Essaouira by bus and I contacted the Riad in good time to ask if someone could meet us from the bus station. Unfortunately they were not able to help and just sent google map directions which would have been completely useless as it was down some very narrow, dark and twisty alleys in the medina. We ended up paying about Eu17 for a guide, a wheelbarrow carrier and the craziest tuk tuk drive ever, through those narrow streets and alleys - an experience definitely, but I would have appreciated a bit more help from the Riad.

Verified reviewThe Riad is nice and very cozy. Heach room has a bathroom. The staff is very kind and respectful. There is a delicious breakfast every morning. There was no hot water during two days but it was not really important for us. The riad is in the middle of the medina but dofficult to find. Make sure you arrange a transfer with them so a person can take you to the riad the first day. I really recomend it!
Dear Lucia, Thank you very much for your review and I am happy that you enjoyed your stay in our Riad. The only thing that surprises me is that I was not aware of the hot water problem and that none of my staff warned me of the problem. This is an unacceptable shortcoming for me and I would be grateful if you could tell me in which of the rooms you stayed this problem occurred so that I can take action. In any case, I thank you again, I hope to have you as our guest in the future and I will certainly make sure that you have special treatment in case you stay with us again. Kind regards, Antonio Micheli

Verified reviewThe staff were very helpful and the breakfasts were very good.
We had plenty of hot water but setting the temperature so that you didn’t burn yourself was next to impossible. It was running too hot then too cold then too hot, frustrating ! We were also without internet for four days apparently the fault of Maroc Internet .

Only thing is that the bathroom shower heads could do with a bit of attention as old with scale. Towels could be replaced as well.

Verified reviewNice design internally.
The staff were disengaged and not very friendly, so unlike other places in Morocco we did not feel welcome. The exception to this was Ibrahim who was great. The location is at the end of a dirty alley where there is a lot of building work. We had to step through wet cement many times when coming and going. We would not stay here again.

Verified reviewCharming property. The riad is accessed through narrow streets, but it always felt safe. The highlight of the stay was definitely the breakfast!
The toilet could be updated and improved.

Verified reviewWe were disappointed in this stay. The room and especially the bathroom have seen better days. While it was not bad by any measure, for the price of 120.00 euro per night we expected a bit more comfort, upkeep and cleanliness. Also, the location in the maze of streets with construction and rubble right next door detract from the experience.

Verified reviewWe were disappointed in this riad. We based our stay on the recommendations written in The Telegraph travel section, but the review there must have been several decades old. While the place does have a nice Art Deco design in the common area, a lot of the furnishing in the rooms has become considerably shabby over time, the bathroom fixtures were broken, broken hook for towels, overall feeling of mustiness and old dirt in the shower and the room as well. The breakfast was fine but nothing amazing - a boiled egg, jar of yogurt, butter, jams, laughing cow cheese and several types of bread. While the evening attendant person was decidedly nice, the ladies during the day did not seem very eager to please the guests and we had rather a feeling of being a bother to them. Plus it was really hard to find this place in the maze of narrow streets, with some houses in rubble just next to the building. As no car or taxi can get here, we initially spent a long time looking for the riad, lugging around our heavy luggage. For all these reasons, we obviously cannot recommend this accommodation.

Verified reviewWe chose this riad because of the stylish decor , central location and the personal service- it is small so you feel very well looked after. The rooftop seating is romantic at sunset and a fresh start in the morning . The breakfast was superb- egg, breads, pastries, cake, yogurt and fruit. You feel like you have been a guest at a friend's house.
You will need to walk from Bab Lakssour gate to reach riad. We carried ou backpacks but you can get a chariot for bags.

Verified reviewWe loved the stylish decor and art pieces. The member of staff ( Ibrahim?) who stayed till midnight after the airport security delays and then arrange our taxi transfer the next day went over and above, so pleasant and kind. The breakfast was a delicious spread of breads, fruits, cheese, honey and a lovely creamy yogurt . Central location is great for exploring Marrakech. Rooftop terrace was fabulous gor views out over city to the Atlas
Little hard to find but mostly down to us doing it at midnight! Google maps snd some local chaps just about got us there. You can't get a taxi close, it is about a 9 min walk

Verified reviewGreat interior design, friendly stuff, central location
1. Windows and doors are old and at night you can hear all sounds around, also see the light through little halls in the window. But I had that also in another riad, it might just be how the houses are in the old centre of Marrakesh 2. The street is not lively. I would not recommend for female solo travellers. Even though Marrakesh is a very safe city, this street just feels dodgy at night
