How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe arrived at Rabat and my partner felt unwell so we decided to book the Queen Room at Lalzohra to have a nice recovery. All I have to say is that their welcoming, treatment and assistance was delightful. Salim and Asma took very good care of us and we really had a magnificent experience in this beautiful Riad. The room is stunning and super quiet to have a pleasant rest. Can't recommend it enough. Thank you!

Verified reviewIt was clean and the staff was kind. The location is very good.
Nobody explained us that to eat here you have to book minimum 2 hours in advance(basic food) the prices were very high for what you get...higher than in Europe. The staff did not know to give any advice where to buy local staff or where to find an exchange...everything was slow and asking somebody else for a common turisti questions. They called a cab for us...somebody they knew that charged us 4 times more that normal price. I was expecting them to call a licensed company or at leat an honest driver... Breakfast had not much variation...mainly sweets...not a buffet. If you want to eat before 8.30 the breakfast gets even more basic...DEFINITELY NOT 4 STARS
Dear Ada, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. However, we would like to take this opportunity to clarify some important points: 1. Food Timing and Advance Booking: At Riad Dar Lalzohra, we take pride in offering freshly prepared traditional Moroccan cuisine, made with care and quality ingredients. For this reason, we always ask our guests in advance what time they would like to dine—especially for dishes such as couscous or tajines, which require slow preparation. This is not about imposing a delay, but rather ensuring the best culinary experience. We do mention to all our guests, verbally and in writing, that certain meals may require advance notice—sometimes more than 2 hours. 2. Staff and Local Advice: We sincerely apologize if our staff member couldn’t assist you adequately regarding currency exchange or local shopping. She is indeed new and still in training, and we are actively working to improve her local knowledge. Our team is generally known for being welcoming and helpful, and we always strive to guide our guests in the best way possible. 3. Transport Service: Regarding the transportation service, we would like to clarify that what was arranged was not a regular taxi but a "transport touristique", which is a private licensed tourism vehicle in Morocco. These services do not operate with counter meters like standard city taxis. Prices are fixed and vary depending on the type of vehicle time of departure and distance. We do not take any commission from these drivers—we simply provide contact details upon request as a courtesy. In fact, many establishments charge additional fees for arranging such services, but we choose to remain transparent and helpful without imposing such charges. 4. Breakfast Experience: Our breakfast is described clearly on Booking.com: it is not a buffet but a Moroccan-style table service between 8:30 and 10:30 am, freshly served with local pastries, breads, and traditional items.Serving your breakfast at 7:30 am it was an exception and never happened before. Warm regards,Sanae Manager

Verified reviewDar Lalzohra is very conveniently located in the old city, the Medina, which offers you to taste the traditional relaxed way of life in Morocco. It is near the old fortress as well as the museum of photography (worth visiting!), and in walking distance of the market. The dar (means house) is managed by a very friendly and attentive host Mr. Salin. I made him a big compliment: you make us feel at home! Salin takes care of everything, from the elaborate traditional breakfast to a Moroccan tea in the afternoon, served in the inner court. We also enjoyed the large roof terrace, where you can relax also in the shade when it's full sun. The choice for a stay we can absolutely recommend.

Verified reviewStraying at Lalzhora exceeded our expectations. The staff’s warmth and hospitality made us feel instantly at home, and the spotless, tranquil atmosphere was pure relaxation. The hamam was deeply rejuvenating—an absolute must-try. Every meal was freshly made, full of flavor, and among the best we’ve ever had. The people made our stay truly special with their kindness and attentiveness, going above and beyond. We loved every moment and would return in a heartbeat—this riad is a true gem!

Location difficult to find. Dirty outside walkways . Cat shit everywhere. Host penny pinch everything like water etc . Room very small, dangerous stair case to sleeping loft. Host charged us more for a better room . Many more choices than this place.
Dear Guest, We are genuinely surprised and disappointed by your review, which contains several misleading and unfair claims. You originally booked our Petit Mezzanine Room, which is accurately listed on Booking.com with all details, Upon arrival, you said the room was too small, even though it matched your reservation. Still, we did our best to satisfy you by offering a generous upgrade to a higher category suite at a very symbolic price, despite high occupancy. You then left a comment criticizing the location, yet our riad is in the heart of Rabat, just 2 minutes away from all major attractions. In fact, we proudly hold a 9.8 score for location based on consistent feedback from hundreds of satisfied international guests. Your remarks about cleanliness and outdoor areas are not related to our property. Any external issue in public streets is clearly beyond our control, and it is unfair to judge our riad based on that (EXTRA MUROS). Our internal cleanliness is regularly praised and ranks among the highest in the city. You also made negative remarks about services, despite not ordering or using any. It’s not acceptable to assume poor service simply because you were not offered a free upgrade, especially when we already went out of our way to accommodate you. We believe honesty and fairness are key in hospitality, both from hosts and guests. As such, from ourside also we do appologize to inform you that we cannot accomondate you again next time. Finally This kind of comment disrespects the hard work of our team and misleads future guests. We welcome all feedback that helps us improve, but we will always respond firmly to false claims. We hope in the future, you will approach your travel experiences with more fairness and appreciation. Sanae manager

Verified reviewThe service in Dar Lalzohra consistently hit the sweet spot between helpfulness, attentiveness and genuine warmth. The food served up here was also first-class. With the staff always keen to know what we'd enjoy, recommendations from the excellent menu as well as bespoke suggestions were woven into the experience of our stay. As a result, the food just seemed to get better and better with every meal. The decor, location, value for money and easy going atmosphere, are all good reasons to recommend this wonderful place, while the cuisine elevates it to to the next level. Ultimately, though it is the friendliness and kindness of the people who run Dar Lalzohra that ensure it is a hidden gem.

Verified reviewWe loved the breakfasts which were freshly made and generous local produce. The evening meals were also tasty. The hotel adapted the breakfasts for a coeliac with no fuss. The staff were all very attentive and friendly. We had a very good hammam on the top floor. The location in the medina, near the coast was ideal. The riyad was clean and tastefully furnished as was the sleeping accommodation.
We were there for a week and our accommodation was on two levels with the bed on a very tight mezzanine up quite steep stairs. We managed but we would have chosen to be on one level for convenience and bathroom access. It is certainly not appropriate for the elderly or those with mobility issues. Booking.com need to flag this. This was a minor inconvenience for us but may have been more for others.
