We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. The staff was simply amazing. They were very attentive and available. Those cleaning the riad kept it spotless. The two gentlemen managing things day and night were nothing short of perfection. They assisted us with airport pick up, luggage transfers, snack on the roof, going to the market to pick up coffee for a gift, breakfast of champions, directions, massages (which was fabulous btw), and the list goes on. The location was just a 10 minute easy walk from the main square. It was truly an oasis amongst the Marrakech madness. The rooftop in the evening was relaxing and beautiful.

United StatesNot ideal for anyone with mobility issues as all the rooms require the use of stairs, though this seems to be more the rule than the exception with all riads in the medina.
The property is beautiful inside and it is located in a central location with easy walking access to the main street and main market square of the medina, the mosque and the palace. The staff were attentive and pleasant and took excellent care of us during our stay. Their 1-day laundry service was reasonably priced and helped us travel light. If this is your first visit to Morocco, I would recommend taking them up on their offer for an airport pick-up because you have to use a porter to access this Riad and most others in the medina and you'll have to work this out on your own if you don't make an arrangement in advance. That being said, we found everyone very helpful and we did manage this on our own.

United StatesThe birds in the courtyard singing loudly before sunrise. Easy to remedy with ear plugs.
The staff was super friendly and each room was decorated in a unique style. The rooms were well appointed but mot fussy. There’s a very chill vibe there. Considering it’s location in the Medina, it’s super quiet.

RomaniaRiad Samsli is a true hidden gem in the heart of Marrakech’s medina. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with mint tea and pastries — a warm gesture that set the tone for my entire stay. The staff is exceptional — friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. The riad is tastefully decorated, offering plenty of relaxing spaces, including peaceful rooftop terraces that are perfect for escaping the bustle of the city. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the location is ideal — just a few minutes’ walk from Jemaa el-Fna, yet tucked away enough to ensure peace and quiet. Breakfast was generous and delicious, served in a calm and relaxing setting. However, for guests who need to leave early, before 8 AM, it would be helpful to offer an earlier breakfast option or a takeaway package. Overall, Riad Samsli provides an authentic and comfortable experience in Marrakech. I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to return!

United StatesThe lighting in our room was really poor. We needed to repack our suitcases and we realized we had to get it done before the sun set. However, there are many spaces in the Riad that would allow for good lighting for reading and relaxing.
Sophien looked after us from beginning to end. He didn't just focus on the property, he made sure to understand our overall trip, got us a porter when we needed it and ensured we were helped on our way to a Toubkal Trek.

GermanyIn the bath tub you have 4 tabs. The system is a little bit complicated, especially since one tab is probrably broken.
We looked to achieve a balance between tradional marrocan accommodation, but without missing essentials when it comes to comfort. Furthermore we looked for a location inside the medina, but still have a reachable bus station in the area. Mission accomplished, thank you Riad Samsli for the pleasent stay. :-) On our arrival day, the room was decorated with rose petals. It looked beautiful. The staff is very nice and they adapt to your needs, in our case an early breakfast time. The house in general is maintained well (minor exception see below). We liked the houses architecture and the view from top of the building.

ItalyThe lighting of the room, a bit dim even during the day — but everything else was perfect, so it barely mattered.
Our stay at this riad in Marrakesh was absolutely incredible! What impressed us the most was the genuine hospitality of the staff — they went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. A special thank you to Malika, who kindly printed our plane tickets and even prepared breakfast early in the morning before our flight. Truly heartwarming service! The riad is beautiful, with a spectacular view from the terrace. Having breakfast up there was so peaceful — a moment of pure serenity. On arrival, we were welcomed with traditional Moroccan tea, which we enjoyed while admiring the elegance of the riad. Our room was lovely and spotless. The only small downside was the lighting, a bit dim even during the day — but everything else was perfect, so it barely mattered. The location was perfect too — super close to the center, just a 10-minute walk from the main square. We couldn’t recommend this place more — a magical stay from start to finish!

NetherlandsMy stay was wonderful, so no suggestions for improvement. I do think that some people might not like that the room is adjacent to an open court yard, this means that it is not dead quiet. However, while I was there, it was quiet between 22:00 and 08:00, all the guests also take this into account and are quiet. Also, the pool is a bit small and not heated. I was there end of March, it was not really appealing to go in. But for me this was not something that influenced my wonderful experience at Samsli.
My stay at Riad Samsli was incredibly enjoyable. The Riad is beautiful, with lots of places to sit outside. The location is great as well, very near the Medina, but still quiet (you can hear the birds sing!). But the personnel is what makes the place extraordinary. They are all super helpfull, kind, and interested. For me, the contact with the staff and how helpful they are, was wat made my stay stand out. The food is incredible, it was actually the best I had in Marrakech. And it's not just the breakfast (which is a lot and very nice), but especially dinner was super tasty! I had the one-person-room, which was perfect. I also really appreciated the pricing, which was more than reasonable for a solo traveller. My stay at Riad Samsli has warmed my heart, it was a home away from home and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience an authentic Riad in Marrakech.

United KingdomThere was nothing we disliked. Guests need to be aware that the building is a historic one so there isn’t a lift but the stairs are comfortable to use and well-designed if your mobility is a little challenged.
The staff told us on arrival "this is your Riad" - and we felt like it was. They were all young, welcoming and the atmosphere was wonderful as they all got on so well together. Nothing was too much trouble. The roof terraces were oases of tranquillity after the city bustle. The breakfasts were delicious with a wide variety of food available including home made yoghurt, pancakes and jams. They were happy to prepare dinner for us if pre-booked after we'd been out on a day trip, which was very good. WiFi was excellent and available throughout. Location was excellent, very peaceful but also within about 10 minutes walk of the Place des Ferblantiers with restaurants, ATMs and taxis. We felt very lucky to have hit on it among all the Riads available and would strongly recommend it.

The staff were lovely and very attentive. They ordered a taxi from the station for us. The location was perfect for the main sights of Marrakesh but the riad was quiet and tucked away. Breakfast kept us going for much of the day. There was calming music and so many lovely birds singing in the courtyard - a total contrast to the busy streets and alleyways.
