The hostel I booked at the Banana establishment was really comfortable, with a secure and quiet room. The staff were wonderful, and the location is perfect, close to everything you might need and right in the old city.

The staff could not have been nicer, more welcoming, and helpful. They and one of the guests, the fact that I had 3 suitcases, and the maze of cobblestone roads were what kept me there. I felt physically safe, which is very important to me as a solo single traveler. Also, it was only €12/night. Abubakr, the manager, was the nicest dude ever. He helped me schlep my three (two of them very big and heavy) suitcases through the cobblestone maze and several flights of stairs on the day I left. I offered him a tip and he wouldn't accept it. He clearly works really hard and I really appreciated him. My suitcases sat unlocked on the second floor and nothing was stolen. Also, in at least two of the showers, the water wasn't draining properly. I told the owner and he fixed them immediately. If the place was worked on a lot more and I was on a tight budget and only had one small suitcase, I would consider going back if I ever went to Tangier again.

Disclaimer, this was my first hostel experience ever. Overall the hostel is just in poor condition and not the cleanest. The owner, Khalid, nicest guy ever, told me that this is his first business so I feel like there's a lot of room for improvement and I think he's aware and working on it. I think the toilets, sinks, and showers (not the hardware in the showers or not cleaned at all) were new but everything surrounding in the bathrooms was kinda gross. There was a cleaner who cleaned the bathrooms everyday, and bless her heart, she was having really bad foot pain (possibly more ailments) while I was there. I could tell she was really struggling. There were wires everywhere, not enough outlets for our phones and whatnot. The first room I was in was super cramped and stuffy. The third night I was there there were a couple girls coming in and out of the room and talking until after 6am. Not sure if they were having a family emergency or what was happening, but very disruptive. The breakfast offered is definitely not suitable for a gluten free diet, so I didn't pay for it. The roof area was okay. Lots of smoking up there and ashtrays. I would have spent more time up there otherwise. I did a load of laundry and it cost me 50 dirhams.

The location is good and there is a fun terrace to sit and relax. Staff was very sweet, spoke english and gave recommendations as well. There's lockers to keep your stuff

The exact address is hard to find but asking locals helped us. The entire place could use some cleanliness including the terrace and kitchen area. The linens were not very clean either.

I recently spent 2 nights at this amazing hostel near the beach in Tangier, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel right at home with their warm hospitality and helpful local tips. The location is absolutely unbeatable—just a short walk to the beach with stunning views of the sea, especially at sunset. The hostel itself has a cozy, laid-back vibe with plenty of common areas to relax, including a rooftop terrace where I enjoyed my morning coffee with the ocean breeze. My room was clean, comfortable, and quiet at night. I booked a dorm and was pleasantly surprised by how spacious and well-maintained it was. The shared bathrooms were spotless, and there was always hot water. What really stood out was the sense of community. I met travelers from all over the world, and the hostel often organized small group activities in the evening, including a communal dinner one night that was delicious and super affordable. Whether you're looking to explore Tangier's rich culture or just relax by the beach, this hostel is the perfect base. I left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already planning my return. Highly recommended!
