How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIf you're heading to Transnistria and looking for a place that offers more than just a bed, *Lenin Hostel* in Tiraspol is a fantastic choice. The hostel has a quirky charm, packed with character and—true to its name—plenty of nostalgic references to Lenin and the Soviet era. From the decor to the atmosphere, it offers a unique glimpse into the region's complex history. The facilities are excellent: there's a well-equipped kitchen space for cooking, everything is clean and functional, and the hostel is located right in the heart of Tiraspol, making it easy to explore the city on foot. But the real highlight of our stay was the excursions with *Dimitri and Juri*. We did an extensive bike tour with them through Tiraspol and Bender, and it was easily the most memorable part of our trip. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing stories, history, and lesser-known insights into this fascinating, often misunderstood region. Whether you're a curious traveler, a history buff, or just want something off the beaten path, *Lenin Hostel* offers a truly immersive experience. Definitely stay here—and don’t miss the chance to book a tour with Dimitri and Juri. It’s the best way to get to know Transnistria.

Verified reviewSometimes you fall in love with a place because of where you stay, and this guesthouse did exactly that for me in Tiraspol. The cleanliness is impeccable - absolutely spotless in every corner, from the bathrooms to the kitchen. The location is perfectly central, with several highly-rated cafes just steps away. Dmitri generously provided me with information to explore the city. When he learned about my transportation situation, he went above and beyond by calling the bus station to inquire about schedules for me. I had the pleasure of chatting with him for over an hour, during which he shared valuable insights about the local area. This guesthouse has all the qualities of excellent accommodation: cleanliness, organization, neatness, central location, proximity to great cafes, and an exceptionally kind, informative host who speaks excellent English. Highly recommended! And, last but not least, thank you very much!

Verified reviewWhat an amazing place this hostel and Pridnestrovie is! Every step from booking to arriving and leaving was managed by the wonderful owner Dmitri and I really had the best time. The hostel (more like a AirBnb/hotel!) is decorated ever so well and kept in top notch condition (clean and well-stocked). I luckily had the full place to myself while staying overnight, but even with guests in the other two rooms this place would remain roomy, cosy and comfortable. I felt a part of the community staying here and it's as authentic an experience as it gets. Thank you for hosting me Dmitri, staying here and coming on the fantastic tour of Pridnestrovie was an unforgettable experience!

Verified reviewgreat location, great contact with a very nice owner who is helpful in many things and always advises a good place to eat or see or buy souvenirs. You can also take advantage of the possibility of trips and immediate arrival from the airport for a small fee. The apartment is renovated, has a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom. The rooms are spacious and well-decorated. You can't hear residents from other apartments.

Verified reviewAs someone travelling alone in Pridnestrovie for the first time, I felt so comfortable and at home in the hostel. The owner, Dmitri, was very helpful in recommending places to visit and in helping me to make some kind of sense of the country. I think that for the kind of traveller who would visit Tiraspol, the hostel is ideal. The hostel rooms are those of a flat in one of the typical Soviet apartment blocks - so for me just staying there was an experience :)

Verified reviewPositive- —It is called a hostel, but in reality, it is almost a hotel. There are only individual rooms and no group sleeping arrangements anymore (and no bunk beds) —The hostel is very centrally located. Although you enter through the back of the building on an ally, the building is located on a main street (Lenin Street). And it is just one block away from the main street of Tiraspol, 25 October Street. The are lots of shops, eating places, and banks for currency conversions just five minute walk away. Everything you want to see in this small city is only a 5-15 minute walk away from this hostel. —There are only a few rooms. You will not be sharing the hostel with many other guests —The owner/manager is extremely helpful with everything! I arrived two hours earlier than expected and upon notifying him, he came by and gave me the keys and information to check-in early. He even arranged a local taxi to take me to Chisinau Airport for a cheap “locals” price. I cannot emphasize how helpful the owner/manger was to my stay —The owner/manager is very personable and upbeat in nature. All your dealings will be with him —There was good water pressure —There was no problem with hot water. Being that the main steam (water) heating plant is close by, I don’t think you could run out of hot water if you tried. —The WiFi was great! —I visited in November and it was freezing outside. The hostel was surprisingly very warm inside. It is next to a main steam generating plant that all the area buildings use for heat. —The owner/manager is also a licensed tour guide. He can be hired directly to give a 2-3 hour walking tour at a very reasonable price —There is a full kitchen, although let’s face it - with food so cheap in this country, why eat in? —I loved the authentic feel of the place. This is not a bland hotel chain with bland surroundings. You will be living as a local which I love! If you want a Hyatt experience, stay at a Hyatt (and pay Hyatt prices).
Negative- —The hostel currently has no business sign on the building, so you are not sure if you are in the right place or not. I am told the sign was vandalized and a new one sign has been ordered and will be installed soon —It is on floor three of walk-up residential building - there is no elevator —Had only one pillow was on the bed. I could have used two. I am sure if I asked for another one he would have given it to me with no problem.

Verified reviewIt's not my first time in this place and definitely not the last one! Dima, the owner, is an amazing person with exceptional knowledge about Transnistria region - if you're a curious traveler and want to learn about history and culture, he's the best person you can find and talk to. See you again during my next visit!
Nothing, everythig was perfect.

Verified reviewIf you’re heading to Tiraspol and looking for a place that feels like a home away from home, Lenin Street Hostel & Tours is the ultimate choice. Its prime central location makes it a perfect base for exploring the city, with plenty of shops and supermarkets nearby to cater to all your needs. The place had a VERY FRESH RENOVATION finished in October 2024! ALL BRAND NEW! One thing that sets this hostel apart is its cleanliness. Compared to other options in the area (including one located in a less-than-ideal spot near a hospital ditch), Lenin Street Hostel truly stands out. The facilities are spotless and well-maintained, providing a comfortable and pleasant environment. The real gem here, though, is Dmitri, the incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming host. He doesn’t just give tips—he goes the extra mile, offering guided tours around Transnistria that are packed with fascinating history and insights. As a professional photographer, I found Dmitri’s guidance invaluable. He knows every hidden corner of his homeland and shared locations that were absolutely perfect for capturing stunning shots. Dmitri’s hospitality goes beyond the usual hostel experience. He even invited me to his own home to meet his friends, making me feel like a part of the local community. His passion for his country and his genuine care for his guests are truly remarkable. The area is also incredibly safe, even late at night, so you can explore with peace of mind. For those traveling from Chisinau, Dmitri can organize transfers to and from the city, making the journey hassle-free. In summary, Lenin Street Hostel & Tours is more than just a place to stay—it’s an experience. With its central location, impeccable cleanliness, and Dmitri’s unmatched hospitality and expertise, I can’t recommend it enough. Whether you’re a casual traveler or a professional photographer like me, this hostel will make your time in Tiraspol unforgettable.
Nothing! The Best place in Tiraspol to stay short or long term. I would come back and stay at Lenin Street Hostel & Tours again next year. Please pay attention on your arrival time and inform hostel before. They meet people in person for check-in. It is super friendly so do cooperate and respect their time!

Verified reviewRoom was Ok, same as on photos. Location is reachable from city center. They communicate in english.
Very naughty owner. We firstly give 8.0 here on Booking but with note that we didn`t trust this owner, because he seemed wierd to us. Then he start to write me messages with threat (!!) and demands to remove opinion. I spoke to booking. com and they send he a form to change opinion and make it worse, so here we go. I never saw such a bad owner behaviour and we have been in dozens of countries. Be very carefull with him. This is a region far from EU and as a tourist surely you don`t wont a hostel owner with who you feel uncertain. Also it`s a cheap city, better pay more and go somewhere else. Also please note out they accepted payment only in Rubles in cash- not a big problem but be cautious of this because our Visas and Mastercards didn`t work there.
We usually avoid revealing negative issues about our guests, but this particular personality deserves a detailed response. First of all, everything he wrote is a complete lie with no proven facts. Do not trust individuals who create unnecessary drama and false claims. 6 things you should know before hosting this 'lost in life' guest, Piotr : 1. He was extremely rude from the moment we sent the welcoming message. He responded aggressively and then completely ignored us. 2. He never provided an estimated arrival time and showed up outside of working hours, forcing us to adjust our schedule to accommodate his behavior. 3. He harassed our female hostel staff, and male inhabitants had to intervene to protect her. He's a bully who targets women but backs down when confronted by men 4. He argued about not being able to pay for accommodation with a credit card . Despite being clearly informed that no ATMs have worked in Transnistria for the past 10 years, he continued to blame the hostel for his lack of knowledge and poor planning. 5. He left the room in poor condition—dirty and smelly 6. He was given the best treatment in the cleanest hostel in Tiraspol, yet he still blamed us for his own life issues and mistakes. If you ever see this person trying to book your accommodation, please contact us for more information about the risks of hosting him. Do not host this individual if you want to keep your business running smoothly. CONCLUSION: This person is clearly a political provocator who came to Transnistria to provoke the conflict and get into trouble so he could later cry his barby tears about Transnisria being not safe etc.
