How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe hotel was great. The room was pretty spacious, the views were great and you had a lot of space to sit outside, read something or play a board game. The river is coming down close to the breakfast area, so it's a great view. Also we were able to walk around a bit in nature in the surrounding area and it was beautiful. The mountains are a great view from the hotel. Max, the receptionist, was a great help and recommended us a lot of beautiful places. He even waited for us to arrive to do the check in late in the night, as we were rerouted in the area and had some delays.
The breakfast could have been better - we didn't particularly like the food, but it was alright. Other than that, nothing to complain about.

Verified reviewNatural environment. Restaurant next to river.
This place is sad. Hotel is rusty ... it looks it has not been renovated for years. There are no maintained hiking trails nearby. Hotel seems to be in a dead end - the road to Žabljak is closed due to a landslide.

Verified reviewNice place. Confortable if basic.
When we stayed, the road to the north towards Durmitor was blocked, leaving the hotel cut off from most of the hikes and activities. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

Verified reviewLovely location, beautiful scenery surround the hotel! The food was lovely, Daniel checked us in and was just great! Breakfast is 6 euro and it is lovely! The stream by the reatursnte was just gorgeous and you can also walk down from it.
Not the hotels fault but be aware the main road to tara canyon is closed, so i instead of taking us 30 mins it took 2 hours to drive round! Not the hotels fault but something to be aware of! Check the road it open!

Would have loved the walking routes to be a bit clearer e.g. qr codes to the routes on a map app

The roads were blocked so the journey to the hotel was very long. Many mosquitoes.
Dear Ayeshah, We’re genuinely disappointed by your review. You rated us 3 stars because the hotel was “basic” and there were “mosquitoes.” Honestly, we’re not sure what you expected. Hotel Ravnjak is a no-frills 3-star retreat in the middle of the mountains - 20 km from the nearest town, surrounded by wilderness where you’re more likely to meet a bear than a barista. It’s nature, not a resort. The views you praised come with fresh air, spring water, and yes… sometimes mosquitoes. That’s the deal. You stayed for half a day, didn’t try any activities - no canyoning, no hiking, no quads - and still asked for a discount, which we gladly gave. And yet, you left a review that says more about mismatched expectations than about our hotel. It’s like visiting India and saying “too dirty,” or flying to Dubai and complaining “too hot.” We hope you find a more luxurious place for your next trip - and leave this space for travelers who actually seek nature. Warm regards, The Ravnjak Team

Verified reviewVery nice place in the center of nature next to a river and hiking spots. Max was kind enough to help us organise a horse riding trail. He speaks good english which helps ! The good restaurant is a plus as we could have dinner and breakfast at the hôtel!
Thanks so much for your review! We are happy to have you in the hotel. Safe travels!

Verified reviewgorgeous location, very chilled out vibe. very helpful team.
although no fault of the hotel, the road closure meant that many of our planned activities in Durmitor National Park couldn’t be done from this location. we adapted our trip and enjoyed our stay but it was impacted by the road being closed.

TO AVOID AT ANY COST Nothing is worth it, we left after 1 night - Manager ( if he was the contact we had) is unprofessionnal and borderline rude - ROAD CLOSED BTW MOST DURMITOR ACTIVITIES AND HOTEL!! But they send you a mail once your reservation is already confirmed, to ensure you will pay - private bathroom with hairs in the shower and smelly fitted sheets - toilet' smell in our room - breackfast : our daughter only took a coffee but we still had go pay 6 euros... It took us nearly 3hrs at night to finally join the hotel, no help from them. We decided to leave after a night and manager ensured to charge us as much as possible. We found another hotel, Zlatni Bor, with nice people and clean rooms
Congratulations on missing the whole point. Hotel Ravnjak is a remote mountain retreat, not a roadside motel. People come here to reconnect—with nature, with silence, with the power of the Tara River source just steps from our terrace. Guests enjoy breakfast overlooking the springs, surrounded by forest and birdsong. If the Balkan mountains score a 2.5 in your book, we’re curious—what’s your 10? A shopping mall? You arrived around 10 PM. Our restaurant staff stayed late just for you, but you chose not to use the service. You left the next morning without walking to the river, hiking the trails, or even dipping your feet in the Tara. No activities, no exploration—just a quick stop and a harsh review. As for the road: yes, there was a landslide 5 km away. We sent detailed instructions and maps to help guests avoid delays. You didn’t read them. That’s not on us. We’re a hotel, not a travel agency. We don’t track your route or supervise your journey. We send the info and hope it’s read. We’re disappointed, but we understand—Ravnjak isn’t for everyone. It’s for those who seek something deeper than convenience. We wish you well and hope your next destination aligns better with your expectations. Warm regards, The Ravnjak Team

Verified reviewLoads of options to sit around the hotel, staff really really friendly, fresh towels every day, nice food, good breakfast menu. Emersed in nature.
We stayed here so that we could travel to Dormitor park and other places as it's only 7km away, unfortunately there is a road closure due to a landslide so this means you can't go to these places, unless you take over 3hrs on road. Although this is not the hotels fault but does impact people who stay specifically there to travel to Zabljak, Dormitor etc

Verified reviewThe location is beautiful, as Hotel Ravnjak is surrounded by forested mountains, with a lovely stream running right past the outdoor restaurant area. The main building itself and the facilities are fairly simple, but our room was comfortable and clean and the staff were really helpful. The restaurant's location is beautiful, and the food is really tasty as well as being good value. It's great for kids, as there's a nice little playground on site, and Max and colleagues suggested child-friendly activities and trips (including horse riding which was wonderful). You probably need a car, as the hotel is quite a way past Mojkovac along the very scenic P4 road, but if you've got one then this is a great base for exploring the area. We had a great time and hope to come back one day!
This isn't a problem with the hotel itself and is obviously completely out of their control, but it's worth mentioning that the P4 was closed a few km north of Hotel Ravnjak by a landslide. The staff made sure to advise us of which route to take before we arrived and we could still get to Crna Poda and some viewing points just north of the hotel, but we couldn't get to Dobrilovina Monastery or the main sights of Durmitor National Park. There was still plenty to do south of the hotel, but it's worth being aware that these kinds of road closures happen a lot in this area, so you may need to be flexible with your plans.

Verified reviewThe location high in the mountains and canyons of Montenegro was amazing. A stream run past the property, and you looked up mountain tops. Staff were friendly, and spoke English, which was important for me. It was quite cheap. Compared to other properties in Montenegro.
This was not some pristine fancy hotel. Their enthusiasm seemed to be the activities, such As quad biking. The area around the hotel had old cars parked up, piles of things that might be useful later. The terrace of my building had an old sofa and Somebody's weight set. At times staff were invisible and finding someone to take a restaurant order or check in was not so easy. Best to think of it as a hostel or bunkhouse.
