How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewVery fair price , nice host, comfortable bed , perfect WiFi if you’re a digital nomad , a kitchen and fridge that guests can also use (open on specific times of the day though ) , best location Also I very much appreciated that the host gave me a better room than what I originally had booked . All in all very much recommended
Smell of cigarette everywhere (thankfully not inside my room though ) although it is a Macedonian problem , I experienced it in many other places . The hot shower works from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m A bit tricky if you’re an early bird like me

Verified reviewAMAZING! The owner is a great guy always available to help, he also suggested a great place to eat nearby (cheap typical and tasty, 5 min away by walk). The place is quiet and with all you need. It was an experience and way better than other soulless hotels

Verified reviewThe owner of the hotel is Mihajlo He was a friendly and helpful man. He was very helpful with my reservation. The moment we sat down, he asked if we wanted something to drink. A friendly hotel. One of the cheapest places to stay in Bitola and If you don't have any problems with insects and have repellent spray with you, it's a nice hotel
Let's be honest The rooms were dirty and had a strange smell. Perhaps the level of filth and smell didn't bother other people, at least not locals, because the city is generally dirty but As a Turkish guest, I expected a little more cleanliness. Furthermore, some windows had mosquito nets, but ours didn't, which allowed spiders to enter the room at night. If you don't have any problems with insects and have repellent spray with you, it's a nice hotel.

The place is pretty worn down and in a need of a renovation now. Did not look that clean, especially the floors and toilet/bathroom

Verified reviewNice no nonsense place in good location. It's a hostel, but not only for young people (when I was there, all kinds of people were there), which I find positive. Bus station and train station are nearby, and there is restaurantl Putnik nearby, which is a nice quiet place in which you can eat/drink all day (Bitola center was really crowded, so I like the more quiet atmosphere of Putnik).

Verified reviewThis place is a great value. The location is really good, 3 mins walking from the bus and train stations (which are right next to each other), and 5 mins from the beginning of the main pedestrian street downtown. Right across from the pretty city park where you can walk or run. The owner spoke good English and he was helpful with calling a taxi and helping me plan a trip to Pelister National Park. The room size was huge. I definitely would recommend.

Verified reviewLovely hostel, friendly staff, very quiet, clean and comfortable rooms, excellent family run facilities.I' ve had a private room all by myself :) which was very spacious and even had a TV. Free wifi with good reception throughout the building. The hostel is in a pretty central location for exploring Bitola,Very close to the main Bus station.I had a lovely, relaxing time at this place also right in the middle of a huge park! It was everything I needed and wanted from a hostel and highly recommended, would definitely go back.Great value for money.
Smoking area table got some dusts on it,and spotted spider webs, just needs little attention!

Verified reviewLocation surrounded by abandoned buildings and decrepit cars, we have low standards and have been travelling balkans, so a place with an 8 review on booking should have been decent. Staff guy was super nice and accommodating but rooms had threadbare sheets, hella black mold in the bathroom, smelled stale and moldy, and generally was uncomfortable.

Verified reviewThe host was extremely hospitable and made us feel welcome and comfortable. He invited us to sit in the “garden” where we could meet other guests. The kitchen was well-equipped for making simple food and tables available where we could sit down and eat. Location was excellent with the beautiful city park just across the street.

Verified reviewWe were welcomed with incredible hospitality and generosity from the host! We felt so well taken care of for our short stay at Hostel Domestika! The location is great—right near the city park, and easy walking distance to the city centre and to the ruins of Heraclea as well. Although the facilities could use an upgrade, everything was clean and tidy, and we very much enjoyed our stay 😊

Verified reviewStrategic location close to the train / bus stations. The hostel is ok, a little bit rundown, but the price reflects this.
A lot of stay dogs in the nearby area, I had no issues, but it was uncomfortable early morning.

Verified reviewMichael, the manager, along with his mother Betty and the long term local residents, make you feel like part of the family. Michael was a gem of a guy, quick to offer a coffee, wine, or rakya. I enjoyed kitchen conversations with Betty about what it was actually like to live in the old Yugoslavia, as I am a senior who can remember the news in America in those days. There is a very large garden where people sat around a table for drinks and snacks in the afternoon. Ideal for kids to run or play ball. Excellent location. The ancient ruins were 20 min walk south, the near end of Shirok Sokak walking street with its cafes and restaurants was 5 min northwest and the Old Bazaar another 15 min north of that, everything else of interest in between, and the bus station less than 5 min walk. The hostel is off a main street next to the medical high school and normally very quiet. Lots of parking space if needed. The large city park is just across the street. My twin room was large and appeared to be recently renovated. Comfortable bed. Two tables, a wardrobe, and a desk with a tube TV, all formica laminate finish in near new condition. Carpeted floor. Very good wifi. Contrary to some reviews, the room was very clean, as well as the nearby bathroom. Water pressure and hot water were excellent. (I normally showered at off-peak times.) There was a large dining room and an older commercial scale kitchen with a wall-length refrigerator, microwave, and gas stove and oven. Guests were welcome to use the kitchen, which was also used by the management to provide meals to some long term residents and work crews staying on contracts. (Using the gas stove and oven required the staff to turn them on and off as a safety precaution.) Management would also run loads of laundry in the wash machine at no charge when it wasn't in use for sheets and towels. Overall, very good value, costing little more than a dormitory bed. As a long term traveler, I extended, staying 2 months.
Rooms do not have individual aircon/heating units. It is a big sprawling building with a good central heating system, but it must be fed bags of fuel pellets, which is labor-intensive and probably expensive. Heating was not turned on until mid-October, and after that only a couple hours in the early morning and again late evening. Needed to wear a coat in the room in the day. (There were lots of extra blankets though.) Wouldn't recommend for cold-sensitive people or digital nomads who work in the room. (This may change in the future if they are allowed to connect to a central utility system.) I would have given a 9 rating if the heating were better. There were minor quirks, like some sheets that were torn, and such, but nothing major considering the price. It would have been nice to have electrical connections next to the bed instead of across the room so I wouldn't have to constantly recharge the phone and laptop. A long extension cord could solve the problem.

Verified reviewLocation. It is very close to the bus station and the city center.
The room was very cold in the evening. When I asked, the mother and son brought me a quilt and an electric heater which was great. The beds are very old. The bathroom was also cold and it wasn't possible to take a shower because there was a gap below and above the bathroom door.
