How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe host genuinely cared about the area and people he serves. He gave me perfect direction to get to the hostel by shuttle bus. He gave me recommendation for restaurants even though he has dining service. There was a huge amount of fresh food for breakfast. He likes the slow food movement. His location is perfect to start hiking on the High Scardus Trail. I will go back and stay there again when I have a chance.

Verified reviewWonderful hostel! The place is peaceful and beautiful, authentic and it has all you need. The owner is an amazing guy, super friendly and genuine. He welcomed us with open arms and an open heart! 🙏🏽 Also arranging lots of things for us to be able to hike the High Scardus Trail and have accommodations for the next days. The breakfast is very nice and created from home products. It’s very close to the start of the trail…and it has a magical energy. Would definitely recommend this gem 💎 …and hope to be back one day!

Verified reviewOur host was so welcoming and catered to all of our needs and more! The place was clean and neat but above all very homey. We had paid for a cheaper room but due to it being the low season and no one else staying at the time our host was so kind and gave us a larger bed and room for no extra cost, just for our own comfortability. The free breakfast included was a great amount of food consisting of eggs bread, cheese, chutneys, and cold meats with orange juice. My partner and I don’t eat pork for religious reasons and our host had no problem catering to this. He went above and beyond being very informative about a local mountain hike we were wanting to do and told us of local restaurants he highly recommend which were delicious and extremely well priced. He also happened to be at one of them for dinner and helped us order and explain the menu in English as the locals waiter didn’t speak any which we appreciated a lot. Free tea and coffee was available all the time which was lovely after being out in the chill. I couldn’t recommend this place more and if I ever find myself back in North Macedonia, this stay will be the first I book!

Verified reviewI love this place and everything in it! I highly recommend staying there and enjoying this experience and especially the truly wonderful hospitality. It's a lovely guesthouse with a lot of heart, peace and character, and felt immediately like home. Authentic and simple. Close to the beautiful mountain for hikers, and it's a peaceful and relaxing place to rest in. It is a good place to meet other hikers and travelers who also love nature, rural authentic places and good people. We all enjoyed the good atmosphere with good conversations and fantastic meals. Above all, the wonderful owner and his family truly make the place and the experience. They are the perfect hosts! Thank you, Dragisha, Maja and little Bogdana 😊 Amazing Dragisha was taking care of everything. He is sweet and caring and enthusiastic and makes all his guest feel welcome and cared for with his warmth and good heart. He loves the mountain and encourages his guest to hike it and enjoy its riches too. He cooks delicious traditional food from good local ingredients, and even some he grows in his garden. I enjoyed every meal so much and ate too much because it was so good. I wish I could stay there more. I was very sad to leave, but as the saying in my room there said about traveling and bicycle, you have to keep moving to keep your balance. So I keep moving on my journey with this precious, heart warming experience in my heart ❤️

Verified reviewA peaceful place at the base of the Ljuboten mountain. The property is close to Skopje and Tetovo yet remote enough for a relaxing retreat or to use as a base to explore the nearby nature. Many mountain activities are available directly from the owner. Amazing views from the property. The room and facilities are clean and equipped. The owner and family is incredibly hospitable and makes an exceptional breakfast with local produce.

Verified reviewA great find. This place was in a perfect location for me as I was cycling through the region and wanted to see the Painted Mosque in Tetovo and cycle into Kosovo. Was a delight to meet the hosts (and their daughter!) and share homemade raki. The place was so peaceful. Great breakfast with homegrown ingredients. Another great thing is the a fantastic traditional restaurant just around the corner
Thank you

Verified reviewSuch a wonderful place!! Where to start? The quiet village of Vratnitsa, where the hostel is located, has a very special vibe. But things become even more special once you go up into the mountains. There are some magnificent trails, starting from the next village, which is walking distance from the hostel. The owner of the hostel is very very accommodating and friendly; he went out of his way to make me feel comfortable in every way, and helped organize my trips. Highly recommend and I will be back to see more of the Sar mountains!
