How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe property is well located in the old town, close to all amenities (and within a minute's walk of Saraiste beach) yet very peaceful. Sandra was a wonderfully responsive and helpful hostess, offering recommendations on local attractions and checking in on me occasionally. The views of the lake, Saint Sophia's church and the mountains in the distance are even better than in the pictures! Air conditioning worked well, the bed was very comfortable and WiFi was fast and reliable, supporting remote work.
Only a couple of minor things to be aware of: the temperature of the shower can fluctuate a bit at times; and the ceiling in the top floor studio is quite low in parts, although you get used to it!

Verified reviewReally lovely stay in the heart of the old town! Hosts are incredibly friendly and helpful, the apartment is a part of their generational family home. Very close to the beach and all of the hiking trails to visit the ancient ruins sights. In the evenings especially, the neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful though the bustling shopping streets are just a short walk away. And fabulous restaurants just steps away from the impeccably clean apartment! Highly recommend!!

Verified reviewThe location of this apartment is fantastic. Older but fairly comfortable, it has a partial view of the lake and is right at St Sofia Church. Very quiet area but only a few minutes to the heart of Ohrid. Spacious apartment with nice balcony.
The apartment for the price, is overdue for an update. The bathroom and toilet are situated right next to the kitchen and with no exhaust fan in the bathroom, this is not ideal. It was also early rising as the blinds don't keep out the light.
I have to do it I am sorry... Grumpy older couple staying in my big 2 bd apartment with one room more, a living room! You are seeing the apartments before you book right?!.... I expected this kind of review from you. I saw it coming first upon your arrival, when you said there is big leak in the bathroom, and when we got in the apartment I was very stressed and with tachycardia I expected chaos... It is quite stressed when some grumpy face tells you you have a big leak! haha my oh my... it was little/ tiny little water "pool" under (little around) the garbage bin, that had not dried from the cleaning before your arrival. And you came quite early just after we finished with cleaning, you checked in earlier even though the check in is after 2pm. On check out you said: -"Your TV remote is not working, last night I couldn't turn off the TV so I had to unplug the TV, that was very frustrating!" I asked you why you didn't mentioned maybe the batteries were out so that is something that is changeable and fixable at instance. You just waved unhappy. I went up after your check out to change the batteries and I am seeing that you were using the wrong remote (I don't know how you turned ON the TV like that but...hey) Just to be clear for others... We have two TV's in the apartment they are from different companies one is ST one is JVC... These guests, were using the JVC remote on ST TV and vice versa!! Gosh... The blinds are adjustable plus you have tent on the balcony so the sun can be blocked.... Instead of enjoying their days in Ohrid, enjoying their retainment, they simply found a new job.. being old and grumpy! Not being happy and smiley at life! One more thing... About my apartment you mentioned older but fairly comfortable. All furniture is new, all amenities are new... yes, at some points it is not finished due luck of finances or time before the season starts.. But that will be fixed. The point was not to be modern apartment but modern amenities with some old/retro feeling... The chandelier in the living room is more than 60 years old! But the bed and mattresses are 1 year old, from 2024. Everything is like on photos!! The view, the interior, except maybe the bed linens on your arrival, I have other bed linens also, with different design! I can't move my kitchen and bathroom! You have natural exhaust ventilation directly into a main house ventilation pipe, which also is connected to a fan that is turned on only manual. I am sorry we are not like your home in Australia... we don't have a house with full ocean view! And with minimalistic Norwegian interior. My dear guests past or future guests!! This is my home! We are building it from a scratch with my small family! We have put lot of ourselves it this! If what you see on the photos or if the price is not complying with your requirements than please skip us! There are other apartments in Ohrid! I will be more happy with just positive guests!

Parking is challenging since it is a narrow old town. The host tries to reserve a parking log close to the house. If that doesn't work you can park your car outside the upper city gate and walk for 5 minutes.
