How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

For a two star hotel, the hotel felt like 5 stars. Clean, high quality French soaps, common room with food. Good walkable distance to all tourist attractions. Price was better than staying in any of the big fancy hotels.

Very basic. No vegan food in the restaurant downstairs. Overpriced compared to China.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at Caravel Hotel. The location is fantastic, within walking distance to many major attractions and surrounded by great food options, including an excellent dim sum restaurant and 24-hour take-away beef brisket (including some other delicacies) stall just nearby, there is also a small supermarket one street down. The rooms were clean and comfortable, just as shown in the photos, which was a pleasant reassurance. Rates are reasonable and affordable. What truly stood out was the service. The staff were incredibly helpful, especially Kenneth from Guest Services. My husband had a mishap while we were out visiting a tourist spot and wasn’t feeling well the next morning. Kenneth went above and beyond to assist us, he helped arrange a visit to a nearby hospital, called a taxi for us, and even guided us on how to get back to the hotel afterward. Though we were supposed to check out that same day, the hotel was kind enough to offer us a late check-out in case we returned late from the hospital. We ended up making it back in time and checked out by noon, but the gesture was deeply appreciated. Overall, it was a comfortable and stress-free experience, and we’re truly grateful for the care and thoughtfulness shown by the team at Caravel. Highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel is not new, and like many hotels in HK/Macau, it could be cleaner. No water stations in each floor so you have to go down to the lobby to get water. Our room cards had to be reset every day. But otherwise, it's a good hotel for the great location.
Location was great! Very near the Ponte 16 bus stop, close to the Ruins of St. Paul's, and very walkable everywhere. There's no breakfast, but that is not unusual for HK/Macau, and there are plenty of food choices around the hotel.

The hotel was conveniently located and is about a 5-7 min walk to the main town square. Bus stops are a minute walk from the hotel. The room and bathroom were lovely. Looked new, exactly as per photos and very clean. The staff was also very sweet and welcoming.

I like their L’occitane shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner!!! I love the smell. Staff are really friendly and helpful! Also, i like that it’s walking distance to everthing! It’s close to super marker, walking distance to st paul ruins and senado square! also their free water!
