How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewEverything is just great about this place. It is cozy and comfortable place where you feel like home since it is equipped with all necessary things. Location is in a beautiful area. Host made our stay really comfortable with provided guide book filled in with instructions about the house, recommendations about sightseeing, transport and shops bear by. It is really great place to stay.

Verified reviewIt’s a very nice and quiet residential area with traditional Maltese townhouses. The rooftop view and ambiance were perfect for evening relaxation and conversations. The city center is easily reachable by traditional boat—just note that they’re not available in the evenings (at least in April). The house has everything you need to feel comfortable and enjoy a unique experience of living like a local. There are a few shops nearby, and we never had any trouble with parking—it was always available within a 3–5 minute walk.
The stairs inside the building are quite steep, which could pose difficulties for people traveling with children and seniors. The shower space is really tiny.
Thank you for the detailed review! We appreciate your feedback about the stairs and shower, they will help future guests. We’re really glad you enjoyed the quiet area, rooftop views, and local experience. We’d love to welcome you again anytime! Best, Nathan

Verified reviewExcept for the dishes which were only okay, the house was very clean. We really enjoyed the decor, and the terrace is perfect for relaxing over a glass of wine. The house is quite spacious, there is plenty of room for two people. Bed was comfy and sheets were clean. The house is located in a quiet and pleasant neighborhood. Wandering around the surrounding streets of Senglea was great.
Bathroom is on a lower level than the bedroom, which is a slight annoyance. The bathroom is also quite cramped. While the area is lovely and quiet, it's not great in terms of convenience. Distance to the Valetta ferry is not insignificant, and there isn't much in terms of restaurants, cafes and supermarkets around. Sliema would have probably been a better choice in these aspects.
Thank you for your detailed feedback. We understand that the layout and location may not have been ideal for your needs, and we appreciate you sharing that perspective. That said, we’re really glad you enjoyed the cleanliness, the overall apartment, as well as the terrace and the charm of Senglea. We’d be happy to welcome you back anytime! Best, Nathan

Verified reviewBrilliant location with accurate description of the property on the site and from the reviews so exactly as expected.
Nothing that we weren’t already aware of - ie:steep steps and shower room and kitchen on same level.
Hello Deborah, Thank you for your review! We're glad to hear that everything was as expected. We hope to welcome you back in the future! Best regards, EasyLandlord

Verified reviewThe terrace is amazing, with a beautiful view overlooking the harbour. The fully equipped kitchen was great, and the owner even stopped by to bring us a new French press when the previous one was broken. It’s a small detail, but it really shows how much the owner cares. We also appreciated the guest manual, which included plenty of tips on where to eat and what to visit. There’s a big TV to watch your favorite shows after a long day exploring Malta (just remember to bring your own HDMI cable). The area where the house is located is very charming, with lovely houses and narrow streets. There are small shops nearby for grocery shopping, and a bus station close by, which we regularly used to get around. As mentioned in other reviews, the bathroom is really small (tiny), but it was good enough for us. Overall, we highly recommend this place—can’t think of anything negative to say about it!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed the terrace and the beautiful harbour view. It’s great that you found the kitchen well-equipped and appreciated the little touches, like the French press replacement! We always aim to make sure our guests feel well taken care of. We’re also happy to hear that the guest manual was helpful and that the location worked well for your needs. It’s always a pleasure to hear when guests enjoy the local area and the nearby amenities. Thank you for mentioning the bathroom size—while it's a bit compact, we’re glad it was sufficient for your stay. We truly appreciate your recommendation and look forward to welcoming you back anytime!

Verified reviewThe apartment was great, the layout took a bit of getting used to. Having the kitchen and bathroom on same floor was a bit strange for me.
The amount of steps within the apartment could be an issue for older or infirm visitors
Thank you Boardman, we hope to see you again soon!

Verified reviewThe townhouse is set out over three floors with a narrow winding staircase to the roof terrace, which we used every day. It's in a residential area at the end of Senglea and we loved being amongst the locals. Nearby bus stop and a few local produce shops were handy. It's not possible to drive down the street so ask a taxi to drop you at the nearby Gardjola Gardens and it's seconds away from the property. The house was really well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom is very small but we knew that and it's adequate. As it's off the kitchen, it's a flight of stairs down from the bedroom. Wide concrete staircases took a bit of getting used to so take care. It's not suitable for people with mobility issues. Excellent communication with the company who own it. Overall we were very happy there for a week.
Having to take extra care with the staircases. The entrance and exit to/from the terrace.

Verified reviewEnjoyed our stay, good location close bus stop, ferry as well or you can catch a boat to Valletta. The apartment clean and cozy with interesting decor. The view in the terrace amazing enjoyed our time there. There was tea coffee and spices, very useful. Comfy bed, conditioner, clean towels. Bit small shower, but not a big problem for us.

Verified reviewExcellent location for us. Very quiet and beautiful neighbourhood. Close to the harbour. Close to very good restaurants. Close to the bus station. Near Gardjola Gardens. Very clean. There is a ”book” with very useful information about how everything works, where you find things in the house, about the nearest restaurants, shops etc. The photos tell exactly what you will find. It really is a nice place to stay.
The bathroom is indeed very small, but manageable.
Thank you for your kind review Gabriela, we hope to see you again soon!

Verified reviewGetting the key from the lockbox and self checking-in was easy. The property is spread out over a couple of floors: kitchen/dining/bathroom on the first, then bedroom/living on the second. It has a beautiful traditional style with cool tiled floors. A cute private roof terrace offers a view of a working shipyard. Bed was really comfy. Sofa beds available. Plenty of storage. Towels provided. Can use the Alexa to play music as you cook. We watched YouTube on the TV in the evening. Easy-to-use air conditioning, plus a standing fan. British-style 3-pin plug sockets throughout. The surrounding neighbourhood was incredibly quiet when we visited in early May - we barely encountered anyone, but did enjoy seeing lots of street cats! Very peaceful location close to the gardjola gardens, which has amazing views of the capital. You can walk about 20 mins to Birgu (Vittoriosa) and catch the ferry to Valletta - cheap and easy, departs every 30 mins. The Senglea waterfront has some nice restaurants with good seafood.
The bathroom is wet-room style, which we didn't mind too much, its just the toilet seat gets soaked when you take a shower. That said, water was good and hot! Going up and down the staircases (e.g. to the toilet in the middle of the night) might be tricky for some, but they are wide and have good bannisters. The narrow spiral staircase to the roof terrace could prove difficult for some travellers.
Thank you Alice for taking the time to leave your feedback, we hopse to see you soon again!
