Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAll was good, we really enjoyed our stay.
The apartment was in the centre of the old city of Birgu, close to the main square, which had excellent cafes and restaurants. The area was lovely, very quaint and close to the marina and ferry to Valetta. The studio apartment had everything we needed, but we were disappointed we did not have access to the roof terrace. This was only accessible with the 2 bed apartment. Luke, the owner, was available and very helpful throughout our stay. We were close to the bus stops, so we took advantage of the local buses. A weeks pass cost 25 euro, we travelled all over the island during our fortnight holiday.

IrelandBathroom too far away from the bedroom. Very slippery floor tiles in bathroom when wet. Ask for floor mats/ towels. Very narrow stairs!!! Low ceilings. Watch your head!!!!
Very central location in Birgu. Nice cafès, restaurants close by. Easy access to Valletta by boat and bus.Accommodation pleasant and quiet at night. Lots of hot water at all times, good shower.

IrelandNO really dislikes. Birgu is not somewhere like a city centre, as a Ireland/Chinese residence would usually expect, there are not many store/supermarkets nearby. However, this is not actually a problem. You will not expect as many as convinience store as in Paris anywher in Malta. Also, after 9pm o'clock, it is a bit difficult to find some places to eat. Again, these are not problems, maybe just a bit cultural difference.
The villa is in Birgu, if I remember it correctly, it is a finger of 3 Cities. Really nice street view, easy access to BUS, 50m to birgu centre 20 minutes to Valletta. The room is nice. The host provide 2 bottles of water which is a great help when I arrive late in the evening, when convinience store is open. The place is in general very quite. Room is big. The host is greatly helpful almost everything including the guideline and help me get receipt from taxi.

EstoniaThe stone walls stain clothes when even slightly touched - can be avoided by adults but not toddlers (:.
Lovely restored historic house, very spacious and comfortable with a fantastic roof top terrace. LOVED the Birgu town where this apartment is located in - it was our favourite area in the whole island - so beautiful, historical, clean, quiet, not touristy.

Slovenia"The roof terrace was not cleaned—there were dirty table and chairs. For the fifth bed, I would recommend adding an extra bed in the apartment, perhaps upstairs instead of the Picado game. The bed from the couch was not comfortable and would be too small for a man."

United KingdomThere was lots of noise. It didn't come from the other two units within the same building but from other neighbours and people on the street. The shower took ages (several minutes) to heat up so we felt we wasted water but the shower was good.
It was a lovely small room and even had a kitchen cupboard with a sink, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, fridge, crockery, and cutlery. The host was fantastic and the location couldn't have been better. Birgu is a lovely area and had some nice restaurants. The unit is only a 3 minute walk to the water taxis, i.e. gondolas, which was €3 per person to Valletta. And only 2 minutes further is the ferry to Valletta which only cost €2 per person and runs every 30 minutes. We had a lovely inexpensive breakfast at Cafe De Brazil only 2 minutes away (and the coffee was amazing).

LithuaniaThe simple necessary things were missing, like more towels, dish cloth, spatulas. We were unable to use the so called terrace because the water from air conditioner was constantly dripping!
Whenever we had a problem the manager of the property came and fixed everything. No problems with communication and the place is beautiful.

United KingdomThe apartment was on the cold side during our visit and the heating wasn't accessible. However that wouldn't be an issue in the summer months.
We loved the apartment, facilities were excellent and in an amazing location. It had a traditional and authentic feel to it with modern elements like a well kitted out kitchen and en suite. We also loved the decor and the outside terrace. The apartment also had a TV, netflix, a washing machine. We also loved the hammock.

PolandThe big minus of my ground-floor room was the proximity of the restaurant just across a very narrow street. Once there was a private reception in the evening, which resulted in a lot of noise outside, just behind the room's window. Normally it was much more quiet, but there are two outdoor tables for smokers, who liked to talk on their phones on a loud- speaking mode or listen to some content in their phones.
Fantastic location in the old stylish house in a charming narrow street at the very heart of old Birgu- a short walk to all town's attractions, including jaw-dropping marina. The room was very nicely designed, clean and tastefully furnished. A clever idea to hide a kitchenette in a closet, looking like a wardrobe. Electrical sockets could be used without adapters- big advantage. Very nice host, flexible with my requests.

United Kingdomwould have been better to have access arrangements earlier than the day of arrival, would be better if each of the three studios had their own front door key instead of relying on other guests returning the key to the box.
perfect location for exploring the three cities, and close to the ferry to Valletta. close to restaurants bars and the waterfront.

United KingdomThe location of this property is great and very easy to find (and opposite an amazing restaurant), so full of character. The studio was so clean and comfortable, despite it being an old building. Everything was sparkling. No dust or dirt. It has a cute courtyard as well. The bed was comfortable, and the room has a ceiling fan and additional air conditioning. As well as a kitchenette, with everything you'll need. There's no tv, but that wasn't an issue for me as there is strong wifi available. Luke is very easy to contact and communicates quickly if you have any questions. He very helpfully gives you a list of restaurants that he personally has been to. I will definitely be returning again next year 😊

Apartament is gigantic, it has 2 floors and huge spacious area overall. 2 bedrooms are situated on different floors, so you won’t bother each other if you’re travelling with group of friends. Kitchen is combined with leaving room, it has main equipment to cook smth. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, air conditioning and ceiling fan. Apartment even has small terrace on 2.5 floor to look around the city over city’s roofs. Location is perfect, close to all city’s attractions!
