How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe stayed two weeks while we traveled the main island. We traveled with rental car. Lot of free parking places near the apartment. Location was good, just a quick boat trip to Valletta.
Maybe not the most suitable for the families with small children. Lot of steep stairs and no high chair or a bed for a baby. There were renovation works just next door that made lot of noise.

Verified reviewFrom the moment you open the doors you a thrown back in time, the house is exactly as described - full of character full of charm. It looks almost untouched from the 17th Century (thankfully it is though). Stone stairs lead up one, two three floors. First to the main largest room that faces the front, kept cool partially because the windows and shutters and its closeness to the shade from the house opposite, but mainly from the fan and AC. Plenty of space for everything you bring. Then to the second floor, the lighter airy bedroom with a doorless en-suite. Again, large enough. This room is very bright and has a skylight that cannot be covered. Onwards to the rooftop, where you can sit in the sun all day (if you want, but why?) between the ground floor and the first room there is a little lounge with plenty of seating and a large TV on the wall opposite. Beyond the internal courtyard you step into from the main door, is the kitchen. The kitchen has ample tea, coffee, sugar, oil spices, so before you pop to the shop take a look as you wont need much. Everything we used worked - coffee maker, kettle, iron, washer and dryer etc. There is plenty of bath towels too. Some things were worn (as you'd expect) but it all worked. Would stay again and again until we are unable to climb the stairs. On that note the stone stairs have worn unevenly over 100s of years so care is needed, this goes for inside the house as well as in the streets around. The house is situated amongst locals which is really nice and its a ten minute downhill walk to the ferry over to Valetta. One last thing, the area is very clean.
During our stay (mid July 2025) there was building going on near by. It didn't start too early though.

We would have liked some history of the house.

Verified reviewLocation was ideal for local attractions, bus routes, local bars and restaurants. In a traditional area away from the maddening crowds, really useful and pleasing welcome pack left including bread, ham, eggs, milk, butter and water.
No hooks on the walls of the showers to hang the shower head so you had to hold it while trying to wash, no remote control for AC unit in downstairs front bedroom. Worst part was builders arrived 6.30 on weekdays are started hammering and drilling next door which was very loud and woke us up, this work has clearly been going on some time but no mention in the description and really spoilt our holiday. The premises should not have been let during this building time

Verified reviewThe property was beautiful and traditional, with lots of character, plenty of space, beds and bedrooms were really spacious, it offered everything you could need during your stay. Offered a quiet and peaceful location and a good base to get around from, transport links great. Amazing experience of the Easter parade through the streets.
Unfortunately, for us the steep stairs were a problem, as we both have issues with mobility, so is a consideration when booking as it is also quite far up the hill and a struggle with all the steps down to the town and back up. But would not hesitate recommending this lovely house to anyone.

Verified reviewThe house was spacious, well-equiped, and comfortable. It is in a nice, convienient, quiet location and served as a great base for exploring the three cities, Valetta, and all of Malta. The host was helpful and communicated well. Best of all was the interesting, historical nature of this 17th century property.
I rated this property as an eight because of the construction noise, everyday, from a major renovation project being conducted next door. I would have been nice to have been informed about this before the stay. Otherwise, I would rate this property as a 10.

Verified reviewWhat a fantastic space! We were blown away by the beautiful space ✨️ for the two of us it was like having our own palace! A short walk down to the ferry to hop over to Valetta, so spot on. Super handy in a short cheap taxi ride to the airport as well. Host was so fantastic and helpful and really accommodating with check in and out times. Felt like great value for money.
There are few windows, like other people commented but that's fine when it's hot and there's the roof terrace as well to get plenty of light. It's a huge, old space so hard to be 100% spotless but it was more than clean enough for us.

Verified reviewLots of room, completely self-contained, absolutely charming with lots of original features. The mezzanine snug is a real bonus, it was so cosy! Well equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms which was great. Comfy beds & the heating warmed the place up quickly.
The kitchen could do with a bit of a revamp and, at the very least, a deep clean! The roof terrace could be made more pleasant & welcoming to sit on.
Hi Elisabeth, Thanks a lot for the revue. Sorry if the kitchen was not up to standard. I was present when the maid was cleaning. She spent from 0730 Hours to 13.30Hours in the place and she is a hard worker. I saw her clean the appliances as well. However there might have been something she missed. Sorry for the mishap!

Verified reviewAbsolutely stunning property. Spotlessly clean, extremely well equipped, Excellent communication with owner. Perfectly situated to catch ferry to Valetta and on to any destination we wished to visit. We will be booking again for next year.
Transfer from airport booked with booking.com. Driver had no idea where the property was and left us stranded. Would definitely recommend owner arranging taxi transfer

Verified reviewThis is a truly exceptional place to stay, in a wonderful old building that is full of character and thoughtful touches by the owner. There is an amazing interior stone staircase which leads up through the various rooms, and a small roof terrace to see some of the skyline of the surrounding buildings. The location is on a very quiet pedestrianised street (unlike many other places that have noisy cars driving outside the windows), and the inside is very cosy including comfortable beds and a secluded little snug with sofa and armchairs above the kitchen. The kitchen is very well equipped including pots and pans, coffee grinder, oven, kettle, etc- better than most other places we’ve stayed. You will feel like you’re staying in a mini castle.
Like almost all traditional houses in Malta, the windows are quite small (to keep heat out), so there isn’t so much light during the day.
