How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Its city location is its biggest handicap with its narrow streets and where parking is always very difficult to find.

Verified reviewWe received the apartment clean, well equipped and tidy. The host gave us important instructions even before we arrived in Malta. The apartment is 5 minutes from the Lidl store and 6 minutes from the nearest bus station. The surroundings are quiet. The people in Malta are extremely friendly.
The apartment is a bit humid, so we aired it every day.

Verified reviewI really liked the apartment, which is very spacious for a couple, consisting of a living room and a bedroom, both large. The furniture is old, but in good condition and creates an intimate atmosphere. You feel like you are visiting your grandparents in Malta. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. There is a small annex with a washing machine, dryer, ironing board. There is also a small inner courtyard. If you can hear the noise from the street in the living room, the bedroom and the rest of the apartment are quiet. The proximity to the Lidl store is another big plus.
It was a bit humid, but I think that is normal for March. I think some green plants in the inner courtyard would be desirable.

Verified reviewVery nice and pleasant hide away distant from the touristy stays. Very clean, roomy and comfy. Old quarter of Hamrun is typical. Place well equipped, bed excellent. Love the little patio. My host, a pearl!
You have to walk a bit to catch major bus lines but it’s normal in Malta and a good way to discover some gems especially old houses.

The location couldn't be better – it's centrally located, making it easy to access all the main attractions while still being in a quiet, peaceful area. A Lidl supermarket is just around the corner, which was incredibly convenient for picking up groceries and essentials. The apartment itself was spotlessly clean and thoughtfully furnished, creating a very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The fully equipped kitchen was a huge bonus, making it easy to prepare meals at home. Overall, the space was cozy, well-maintained, and had everything I needed for a great stay. Verified reviewI really liked that the apartment had all the necessary utensils and equipment (dishwasher, oven, washing machine, ironing board) and even some spices. The size of the apartment was very good (it's perfect for a couple). I also really liked that there was a private terrace. The cleanliness of the apartment was also excellent, with plenty of towels and even bathrobes. The location of the apartment was also not bad. Very near to lidl and bus stops. From the apartment you can walk to Valletta in 35 minutes.
I can think of three downsides of the apartment. First of all, we think that the insulation of the apartment's exterior doors is not very good, because when a car passed by on the street (which was not very often), you could hear the noise in the apartment, but it didn't disturb your sleep. Another downside was the "cellar" smell as soon as you entered the apartment. However, when the windows were opened, the smell disappeared, or at least did not bother me any more. Finally, I think a new bed is worth it. The bedroom bed was soft and I had a good night's sleep, but it squeaked when you turned on your side and moved around.

Verified reviewGood apartment, good place. Near Lidl and bus stops, 15 minutes from Valletta. Direct bus X3 to the airport. Well eqipped renewed kitchen, new bathroom, garden. Heating (by AC). Easy to access, host Derek always in touch.
It was Ok for us, but the bedroom is not private, appts has a joint corridor and bathroom.

The grocery store and the bus stop are around the corner some 150 meters away, we could get anywhere easily. Derek is an extremely responsive host, the best we have ever met.
