How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location & the spaciousness
The mess in the kitchen/dining room (oven is filthy & cupboard shelves are dusty) & the unfriendly person staying in the same house, also the lack of space in the fridge (only 1 shelf whereas the other 4 shelves were full of others food items & no cupboard space at all for us, there were lots of cupboards but all used by the couple living there). All in all, a terrible experience. We were asked to wash up the dishes, even when we were still eating in our bedroom. Lots of items are not working, e.g. fan, TVs, cupboard door could not shut properly. There were lots of little flies coming out of the kitchen sink drain when you turn on the tap.... No information advising where to go & what to do nearby etc....
Worst guests ever. They went into rooms that were clearly marked private even though we warned them several times. They always left a mess in the kitchen which we left for them in perfect condition. They used our food without apologising. They left a big mess in the room when they left clogged the sink and damaged the bed. They would message at times like midnight or 1 am and expect us to answer immediately. It is not true that there are things not working everything works perfectly. They are also providing false information they are not young (over 70) and they are not Spanish. They should not be allowed to book anymore on booking.com other hosts should not have to go through a similar experience. I have photo and video evidence for everything.

Verified reviewPerfect accommodation for me, i was visiting friends in Malta so I needed a base. Five minute walk into rabat town and midna, on a major bus route to Valletta The room was spacious bed very comfortable and a decent working shower so ticked all the boxes. For what I paid i found it value for money.
I didn't see anyone i think its a house that rents a room. I could hear people but it wasn't noisy and didn't disturb my stay. Would have been nice to see someone if just a greeting but saying that i was out majority of the time.

Verified reviewVery spacious room, nice balcony, also the shower had hot water and good pressure, there were shower gel and shampoo (not new, but came handy), the towels were soft and the mattress was really comfortable. Host is very friendly and also his dog!
Floor not very clean, in the room and in the bathroom; the balcony was also not clean and overlooking an abandoned garden with wild plants. We didn't bother much nor we were disappointed. Just mentioning for completeness.

Verified reviewI have rather randomly picked this place, and it turned out to be... a little heaven!!! I rarely leave comments, and this time I won't be bothered to post some photos as well. First of all, it is not a house. It is a castle. And not anyone's. Lannister's :D From the very entrance, through the hallway, up the most amazing staircase, to the room, and then out to the patio where I drank every coffee- I was left speechless. I could not believe the whiteness of the walls, they looked as if painted that morning. The room- super big, the closets- the same. There was everything from the iron, to towels, super clean sheets, and even coffee and sugar. As a coffee addict I really really appreciated this :D I have to dedicate an extra sentence to the bed only- I have never ever slept in a more comfortable bed. I indeed have to contact Reuben and ask about the manufacturer :) Having your morning coffee in the patio is an experience for itself. It should be listed within the top 10 Malta attractions. And this is not an exaggeration. Reuben is the kindest man and me and my boyfriend felt as if we were completely alone in, I have to repeat, a castle. Finally, the dog- oh my god, I wish she was there to welcome me home every day. There is no lovelier creature in this planet! To sum it all up- the best weekend of my life!
Thank you for your lovely comments Ana. You are welcome anytime

Verified reviewFantastic! Reuben and his son are warm people who made me feel very welcome and looked after. I had a large room with an ensuite plus a private balcony with a cool view of the neighbourhood. The location is PERFECT. It's a 10 minute walk to Mdina. St Paul's Catacombs - 5 minute walk. St Dominic's Priory is just across the road. Bus routes 51, 52, 53 to Valletta and bus route 201 to the airport are only 30 metres away. Despite the house being so close to the main road, I didn't hear any traffic noise and slept well.
It would've been nice to have an extension cord on the room. There are no power outlets in the ensuite and the power plug in the bedroom was too far away from the mirror in the wardrobe. I had to heat up my hair straightener, unplug it and then go to the mirror to use it.
Thank you for your comments Eka. I will take your suggestions and actuate them.

Verified reviewVery spacious room with huge bathroom and balcony. The room is really comfortable. It is part of the private appartment and you need to pass through a private area to enter the room. It is located at a very quiet place not far from the city center.

Verified reviewThe location was perfect for me - not in the centre of Rabat but in a quiet area only about ten minutes walk from the cathedral. I could walk anywhere I wanted - including the Dingli cliffs - without any problem. The host, Reuben, is kind, helpful and friendly. The bed is incredibly comfortable, I don't think I've slept that well in a long time. I also loved the tiny balcony, perfect for sitting out on to have a cup of tea or some lunch. The room had everything I needed except a desk where I could work. It was honestly amazing value for money.
It's an old Rabat building (which I like) and must be hard to keep clean. Even so, it felt a tiny bit unloved. One note - there's no desk to work at if you need to write or use a computer. There's a space where the TV is but it's too high to use comfortably.

Verified reviewThe host offered me some helpful tips on what to visit. Pretty good location. It was an old house with thick walls which can be of advantage in a hot summer, but in winter it was really cold inside.
The bathroom obviously wasn't cleaned in a while. There was a shared kitchen but pretty unusable because it was dirty there. Also it didn't smell very well in the hall (my room was ok) as there was a dog (she was friendly!) and some bones were left on the floor...
Nicole thank you for your review. I would like to point out that the bathroom is cleaned between each guest. The room has climatisation which I showed you which could warm the room. The kitchen is always clean. The dog is never given any bones so I do not know what you saw. It is also interesting to note that it took you 23 days to come up with these complaints. The walls are the standard thickness of Maltese townhouses 18 inches if facing outdoors 9 inches if its a divisors wall.

Verified reviewA big room and bathroom with a big comfortable foam mattress. There is a balcony with a table and chairs. Plenty of hot water. We were allowed to use the frig to store our breakfast. There is a kettle with tea and instant coffee in the room however the kettle needs an adapter to convert from a euro plug to a malta plug (British) and we never got it working so we used the one in the kitchen. The wifi worked well. There is a bus stop near by. We took a bus from Valletta and he allowed us to check in early since the bus takes less than an hour.
Overall the house could have been a little cleaner.
