I love Birgu. Vibrant square wi r h plenty of eateries on offer as well as the history. Know it well. Comfortable and safe. Happy the home has a washing machine. Neat and tidy place.

No windows downstairs for some fresh air, no tea bags, no clothes airer for drying washed clothes. I would suggest instructions in the manual - how to use the washing machine in English, where to find the stove on/off switch hiding behind coffeemaker. A microwave would be handy. Also, please talk to your neighbour, the Bird Shop, and ask him to spray some CRC on his roller door. The noise is frightening if you're asleep.

    Property response:

Dear Bernadette, thank you for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Birgu. We've taken your recommendations - thanks so much! Please visit us again soon.

    The location

Living area damp and claustrophobic with virtually a continuous noise from ventilation fan day and night. No curtains to the bedroom window so always light as streetlights at night. Lights flicking, no floor towel etc all reported to staff but no action made...

We're so sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay! All the issues you mentioned could have been easily addressed by our Property Manager or our Guest Experience Team. Future guests - this is a traditional Maltese home and it was decided that no curtains are added to the upstairs bedroom - it is dark and has a really cool mood - however, we have a rod and curtains which we can put up very easily :) so please, speak to us! Anything you need, anytime :)

Fantastic location in a beautiful quiet old city , few tourists and not much through traffic . Superb comms via WhatsApp. Spotlessly clean , reliable WiFi , comfy bed , excellent shower , enough crockery and cooking utensils . Very recently refurbished to a good standard in an old building . Washing machine with tumble drier . A lovely touch was a complimentary bottle of red wine. It's 10 minutes walk to the Three Cities ferry for Valletta (which takes just 10 minutes) and just beyond there to the local shop. From the apartment it's 5 minutes walk to "Fortini"bus stop routes 3 and 4 to Valletta in 25 minutes. Eateries on the main square in Birgu; also go over the bridge after the ferry terminal to Senglea for waterfront dining looking across to Birgu . Download Ecabs or Bolt app : taxi from airport to apartment about 9 euros .

There is a bright street light meters from the bedroom window which needs a black out curtain : there is a glow in the room at night . The air conditioning remote downstairs is broken so unit couldn't operate . This is a building over 400 years old built into stone : nevertheless there is a very noticeable musty damp smell downstairs which is unpleasant. I opened the front door when in situ downstairs as this was the only means of naturally ventilating the room ; the owners have installed a wall fan on a timer but the musty damp smell is noticeable whenever you enter from the street or from upstairs .

    Property response:

Thanks for the awesome review, Ian! We're thrilled you enjoyed your stay in Birgu and appreciated the location and amenities. Safe travels! [Zoe], [Zzzing].

Great location, right in the middle of old town. Great bathroom, spacious and walk in closet great.

Very tiny kitchen with few appliances. Due to the type of property it unfortunately smells a bit damp.

    Property response:

Thanks, Lina! Glad you loved the flat and its location. Hoping to welcome you back soon [Zoe], [Zzzing].

Though it has a small footprint it is a very comfortable apartment, we liked the history of the building and the surrounding area. The apartment had everything we needed for a good stay.

The shower drain had not been cleaned for a long time, and I had to clear it as the drain was not emptying at all. Hopefully the property manager stays on top of this, as I notified them directly of this issue. Also the directions supplied by Bookings.com was not accurate for Maps.me and Google Maps. I entered the address into Google to accurately find the apartment successfully.

Location excellent in a quiet authentic street. Bathroom and bedroom comfortable.

Personally I missed having outside space but I was aware prior to booking. Nasty smell of damp in the downstairs but it is a very old property so perhaps unavoidable.

Fantastic location in the heart of the city! It’s just steps away from great restaurants and shops. We rented a car and were pleased to find convenient parking available. The space itself is cozy, with a comfortable bed, and there’s a charming bird shop nearby, so you wake up to the pleasant sound of birds singing in the morning.

Interesting interior. The hotel is located in a very beautiful city.

A moldy shower curtain - that was unpleasant. A constant smell of dampness on the first floor. A sign that said we should treat ourselves to homemade wine, but there was no wine. You could hear everything that was happening outside. It was a nuisance at night. There was no hot water in the shower.
