How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat location. Emily, the owner was very nice and helpful and flexible. She answered always very quickly. She recommended very good places. Thanks her again for everything! The apartment is very nice, has a special atmosphere, well-equipped. The house is old, but renovated, thick walls, a bit cold, but there was air-condition, we were able to heat the room for night, that was very good. The area is very peacful and nice.
There were a few cats nearby, they meowed loudly at night, but it's not the owner's fault, they can't do anything about it. First when we entered, was a bit musty smell, but as we opened the windows, it was ok, and the following days was ok as well.

Verified reviewThis place is all about location. It has great quick access to the ferry boats to Valletta and you could very easily hop on and off the capital city. Parking spaces are available on the streets as well, so it’s really easy to park your (rental) car. Wi-Fi is really fast. Connection is stable. The host is very friendly and easy going. The kitchen is equipped well enough to cover vacation needs. Towels and duvets are available. Cafe Rouge is 3-4 mins away and is an excellent choice for a quick snack. One of the few restaurant open early in the morning on Sundays.
There is nothing we disliked, yet some things you need to consider: 1)The humidity in the apartment is very high, this might be normal for the region though. Turning on the A/C in the bedrooms fixed this issue partially. 2)Bathroom might be a bit cold in the winter period (e.g March/April), and dries out really slow. Leaving the window open during the day fixes the issue , it’s just that it gets a bit cold (~17 degrees).

Verified reviewThe ambiance of the old section of Cospicua. The streets were too narrow for anything but walking up/down the stairs. The house was 500 years old and wisely the owners did not cover up the original stone structure. We liked walking to local restaurants and points of interest. We loved the old coffee "pot". One cup at a time we had great coffee.
Parking and one way streets made driving difficult. But that is beyond Amelia's control. The toaster didn't work and we were toast for breakfast people.

Verified review500 years old apartment. I felt myself like in a medieval castle. With modern conditions, of course. The apartment is very clean and bright. The location is wonderful. There are a few little stores and bars nearby, also Malta Ferry in just 5 minutes. The owner is so nice and hospitable.
Thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. It was my pleasure hosting you and your friends 😊

Verified reviewThe thing we liked most was the host’s attitude and love for her guests, we definitely caused some inconvinieinces for her, but Amelia always replied so fast and ready for the rescue🤣 She is such a sweetheart, definitely made our stay so much better. The house itself is kind of an old but nice style of a Malta “cave” house, it has AC in the 2 bathrooms, 2 restrooms, one with bathtub and a shower which has warm water generator. I definitely recommend staying here for everyone, if you wanna have the sweetest host in Malta🥰
We liked everything!

Verified reviewThe house is very well located giving us the right feeling of living as a local. Cospicua is a beautiful city and staying at this house was the right choice.
The house is a bit dark and that brings a smell of moist. Be aware that the bells of the nearby churches star playing very early and are easily heard inside the house as also ate the children in the school and of course the pigeons.

Verified reviewStunning 500 year old property in Cospicua, one of the Three Cities. Host was incredibly welcoming & helpful. The house is well equipped, spotlessly clean & has so much character. What an experience to stay here! Easy walking distance to Birgu/Vittoriosa & Senglea, & regular ferries to Valletta. Lots of steps but this is usual for this area. You can hear the church bells quite often so you might want ear plugs but it wasn't an issue for us. Definitely recommend this property.

Verified reviewPerfect location in the Three Cities, few minutes walk from the ferry that takes you in 7 minutes to Valetta. Nice coffee and restaurant within walking distance. More restaurants on the dock. The apartment is very clean and spacious. The host lady was very nice and polite. Would love to return.

Verified reviewNice flat in a 500 years old house in pedestrian street. Very spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Close to bus stops and grocwry stores. And also close to nice walks in the 3 cities.
In these old houses, there are issues with humidity and humidity mixed with cold air from the aircon. Just a small price for the experience of enjoying the living history.

The house is 500 years old. Charming, but with the inevitable occasional musty smell. A small thing, really.

Verified reviewWonderful hostess. Very helpful. location was a little difficult to find but an excellent location for day trips.
Only comments were beyond anyone’s control: it was unusually cold when we were there and we needed a space heater (that our hostess promptly refilled when we told her it was empty); a storm dropped over 80mm of rain in one day and some of it seeped under the front door. Easily solved with clothes stuffed under the front door.

Verified reviewTop 5 No1 Spot of the house No2 Well decorated and a small trip to the past No3 Very roomy No4 Quite neighborhood No5 Free parking close to the house We loooved our stay at Amelia's house. Thank you Amelia you were a great host
Unfortunately has to do with Malta in general and not with Amelia's house. Malta has a very humid climate and visiting the island during winter time is a bit of a problem for people they have respiration problems. And of course staying at a historic and lovely house made of stones with huge walls will not help you 😉
Thank you for your positive review. I’m glad you liked the house. It was my pleasure to host you :)
