How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLovely & Relaxing Stay We had a lovely and relaxing stay. Breakfast was freshly prepared by the host, Denise, who makes delicious cakes, quiches, apple pies, and refreshing fruit salads. She was incredibly helpful and welcoming throughout our stay. We really appreciated the mini fridge in the room, especially with the hot weather. The room itself was very nice and exactly as shown in the photos. The location is great—just a 5 to 8-minute walk to Qala Square, where you’ll find bars, restaurants, and a mini market. Highly recommended!

Verified reviewThe property was beautiful, decorated immaculately and had a lovely pool and garden area which we used every day. The room was tidied each morning whilst we were at breakfast and the owner and host were very friendly and communicative both before arrival and during our stay. Breakfast was delicious and getting to eat by the pool and meet other guests added to the experience. There is a beach in walking distance (and an uber back was around €4 if you don’t fancy uphill in the heat!), a bus stop very nearby which made getting around easy, and a lovely town square where we had dinner and drinks every night and tried each restaurant (all were lovely). The host was obviously very knowledgeable on the island and gave us great recommendations and additions to our planned itinerary each morning.
No criticisms of the property but would highly recommend bringing beach towels and some cash for loungers and parasols at the local beaches - €7 per lounger and per parasol at both Hondura and Ramla. We didn’t have either the first day but were able to get both after a stroll into Nadur.

Verified reviewThe bnb was a lovely traditional building, we loved our room and the pool. The air conditioning worked well and there was a fridge in the room. The bed was large and very comfortable.
Some areas could be cleaner, eg mould in the shower and animal hair on some loungers. A few things were slightly broken, but overall the property looked very nice. Breakfast was okay, but things ran out if you weren’t there first (even with only 8 guests) and the food wasn’t as good as expected.
Dear Anna, Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us! We're always eager to discover how we can improve our offerings, even when the feedback is a bit enigmatic. It seems our breakfast didn’t meet your expectations, which is quite the mystery to us! We’d love to know what you were hoping to find—were we aiming for something more culinary magic? Your insights would certainly help us in our quest to please our guests. Regarding the cat hair you found on the sun loungers, we want to clarify that we don’t have any pets on site. However, being in a rural area means we occasionally host some curious wild cats who may leave a few unexpected souvenirs behind. We do our best to keep things tidy, but it’s not always easy to spot those elusive hairs before they catch a guest’s eye. We genuinely appreciate your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Perhaps next time we can surprise you with a breakfast that hits the mark!

Verified reviewThe house is a typical Maltese house that has been remodeled and decorated with great care and taste. The host Denise is very sweet, provides lots of good recommendations for restaurants and for visiting the island of Gozo, and prepares a hearty, delicious breakfast. The location is very quiet, a nest in the beautiful countryside.
Nothing really. Everything was perfect.

Verified reviewFrom the moment we stepped in we loved the place: attractive, clean, quiet and welcoming. We didn't realise we were the only occupants until the morning and it felt safe and comfortable. The breakfast was exceptional.
We liked everything, perhaps the only thing which wasn't so perfect, for us at least, was that the mattress which was a bit too soft for us.

Verified reviewProperty is in a quiet place (alley) and was not waken up by noises or vehicles. The property is a genuine old Maltese (Gozitan) house which has been expertly renovated. The room was very nice and well equipped. The hostess Denise is a very nice lady and she greets you herself upon arrival and shows you around. She makes sure that you have an all-around nice stay and besides preparing an exquisite breakfast with pies and quiches and all, she also offers valuable information as to places of interest and nice trails one can take.

Verified reviewWe actually stayed at the Ferrieha B&B which belongs to the same owners since we were kindly informed that some construction works were being carried out next door to Betty cake; which we really appreciated it since we were after some tranquility. Stef took amazing care of us, super attentive and helpful. The room was really large with stunning views of comino and Malta. The bed was really comfortable and Stef made sure we had a lovely breakfast every day:) thanks a lot!

Verified reviewExcellent location in the beautiful village of Qala (my personal favourite), 5-7 minutes walk to the central square with a couple of great reastaurants with local and European cuisine and local bars with super good live music played by local musicians on Fridays and weekends. Sofisticated design of the house - decorated very cozy and with love! Our room had a nice small balcony, there is also a shared terrace on the rooftop where we watched many beautiful sunrises. Another shared terrace at the first floor overlooks an old windmill - a totally pleasant view. Denise - the host - is very attentive and helpful - we had some pleasant talks with her during the breakfast time, got great tips on things to do/places to visit and hiking routes and Denise even made me a special cake with a candle for my birthday which made my day already early in the morning (and generally, the breakfast is a dream for pastry lovers confirming the fair name of "Betty Cake" :D). Next time on Gozo we will be happy to stay at Betty Cake again!
Nothing to report! :)
