How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBirgu is a beautiful city and the apartment is in the heart of it. The rooftop has an excellent view. We had a really nice welcome at the reception. We got welcome package which included bottle of waters and coupons for the d Centre restaurant and souvenir shops. After check out we were able to leave out bags in the storage which is a huge plus!!

Verified reviewVery clean and nice apartment! I wasn't feeling very well when we arrived so the host said we could check in earlier so I could rest. The apartment has everything you need, a small kitchen, bathroom, bed, closet and tv. And of course, air condition :) the view from the roof terrace is amazing and it has table, chairs and place to put clothes to dry. A washing machine is also avaible for use and it is shared between 4 apartments in the tower. The place also has WiFi and the hosts were very nice and always there for any questions!
Not really a minus, but it has a lot od stairs😂 and it is a bit narrow to go upstairs if you have a lot of luggage. The only thing we missed is salt when we were cooking, but it's okay, you can always buy it in the near store.

Verified reviewThe location is great, right in the centre. The flat is tiny but has everything you need in it and was clean. Communication was alright too,the host was responsive and helpful. I would stay again.
Not much privacy when using the toilet, as the bathroom door couldnt be closed properly,at least when we were there. Bed is creaking a bit, but otherwise comfortable.

Verified reviewIs it the fanciest accommodation? No, but was it adequate as a base for exploring Malta for the price we paid? Absolutely. We wanted somewhere quiet to recharge after a long day of sightseeing, and Birgu Tower definitely delivers. It's definitely small, but we loved staying in Birgu because it was very peaceful and felt like a hidden gem, away from more crowded areas like Sliema. The kitchen was fully equipped (we bought groceries from Lidl, a 15-min drive away), there was also a folded table and chairs for eating. The air-conditioning was fantastic, and the shower and bed were fine for us. We also watched Maltese movies on the TV! The best part is most definitely the view from the rooftop—not to be missed! All in all, a great place to stay if you want quiet and a place to cook and relax, in a beautiful part of Malta.

Verified reviewThe location was nice, a bit far from the downtown but connected pretty well by bus. A little kitchen corner with kitchen tools is provided to cook food if you want.
The room/studio was very small, just a bed, fridge, a toilet and not enough space to move around if you are 2 people inside. I could hear everything when people were talking loudly, both in the stairs or outside, so be aware that you will always wake up early in the morning. Double glass/soundproof windows are necessary to reduce the noise from outside, at the moment there are not. Shower is within the toilet, so everytime you take a shower the WC and the floor get wet.

Verified reviewAwesome welcome email: detailed explanation where to go. Easy key pick up, all good. Accommodation is small but for the money it's great. Ice cream factory nearby has mind blowing varieties. There's 10mins ferry to Valetta (Google does not know about it apparently).
I'm sorry but dear property owner, please tell your cleaner to wash towels at 90 or at least 60: they STINK.

Verified reviewValue for money 2-3 stars room. 30 minutes by public bus to reach Valletta.
Although there was a kitchenette, there was no table (the room is not spacious). There was no hanger. Narrow stairs.

Verified reviewLocation was pretty good, good bus service to Valletta , nice area
Property is not sound proofed, you could hear residents of the property walking behind the wall. No view from the window looking out mostly on the wall of building next door. Very small property. Bathroom was joined with the toilet therefore when having the shower water went all over the toilet seat and toilet paper. Terrible pillows, very uncomfortable. Mattress very bouncy, when another person next to you made a move it made you bounce. Only one spoon provided. Microwave was very dirty. Poor lighting in the bathroom, trying to put makeup on was almost impossible. Full size mirror was provided attached to small wardrobe however no room to actually stand in front of it for viewing. Wardrobe was broken inside therefore we couldn’t use it. Property generally is very small. Church is very close therefore each morning at 7:00 bells will wake you up ringing for some time.

Verified reviewOverall a nice experience. The appartment was cheap fairly said, so good for the money we gave. It has kitchen and it is located in the center of Birgu. Lovely location. The bad thing is that toilet is in the shower place, and there was some leakage because the silicone is missing on some parts of toilet. Could be fixed...

Verified reviewIt was in the centre, it was nice, cozy and clean. We absolutely loved the terrace on the top of the tower, great views!! We also got a voucher for 1 free drink in their restaurant. :)
It took us about 10 minutes to find it, there wasn’t a sign or anything but that wasn’t a big issue.
