How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewStaying at Casa Nannakola was an awesome experience for us, because it offered everything we needed. Paul was the nicest, the first thing he said to us is that this place is not a hotel, but a home and we should be comfortable with everything in the house and should let him know if we have any inconvinience. We could text him at any time of the day and he would help us. He spent an hour just to search places we could visit and when our message system didn’t work, he spent at least another hour just to send the places for us again. On our last night, my boyfriend had a terrible migraine and we hadn’t had any medicine, so I texted him at 1 am and he woke up just to give us the painkiller at the middle of the night. He was the sweetest, he was also very worried about this and wanted to help us with everything he could, he treated us like we were his children haha 😆 We couldn’t thank him enough. The place was great, had everything, Naxxar is a nice small town, bus station, grocery store, restaurants were very close, only a few minute walk away from the stay. I’m sure we will visit again in some time.
Thank you 🙏 you guys are welcome anytime. Hope the headache is gone 😘

Verified reviewImmensely beautiful character home, filled with plants and unique art pieces, sculptures and paintings. The spacious rooftop terrace offers amazing views, and the view of the church makes for an unforgettable sunset dining experience. The rooms are clean and fully equipped with fresh towels, coffee, tea, snacks and even ladybug (Nannakola) chocolates, which add for a lovely personal touch. Apart from this stunning property, we enjoyed the company of two adorable small dogs, Pupa and Naxxa (hope I spelt that correctly). More importantly we have enjoyed the company of the absolutely lovely hosts, Paul and John who have worked hard to make our stay as homely as possible. The breakfast was gorgeous with arrays of cereals, teas, drinks, seeds and jams. Lovely fruit salad, yoghurt and toast. The breakfast and a chat with Paul and John is just what you need to start the day on a high note. We truly hope to stay here again. Love, Luna and Selena

Paul was making us amazing breakfast every morning, we could talk with him about everything, he would help us with everything. The house is like a little magical place, with a soul and a vibe! Verified reviewMy wife and I recently spent a few days in Malta and stayed at No 7 – Casa Nannakola. It turned out to be one of our warmest and most memorable trips—thanks both to the house itself and to its wonderful host. WHAT WE LOVED Cozy & stylish. The home is tastefully decorated: neat interior accents, soft tones, and a gallery of portraits and paintings on the walls make you feel as if you’re visiting long-time friends rather than renting an apartment. Green courtyard & morning breakfasts. The inner courtyard is draped in greenery, and each day begins with a homestyle breakfast that Paol prepares with special care—simple, delicious, and warmly familial. Panoramic rooftop. From the top terrace you can gaze out over the majestic Palazzo Parisio and the neo-Gothic Knisja Parrokkjali tan-Naxxar — Natività tal-Madonna. Come evening, it’s the perfect perch for sunsets and the fireworks that often light up the Maltese sky. THE HOST IS THE HEART OF THIS PLACE Sincere hospitality. From the first moment, Paol greets you with a wide smile and an unmistakable feeling that he’s been waiting just for you. The best host. He truly cares for his guests, always ready with helpful advice, and offers it wholeheartedly. Warm atmosphere. Thanks to Paol, Casa Nannakola feels like a family home—one you’ll immediately want to revisit. VERDICT No 7 Casa Nannakola isn’t just a beautiful house with views of Naxxar’s architectural gems; it’s a place where the authentic Maltese spirit lives. If you value comfort, aesthetics, and genuine human warmth, book with confidence—here you’ll find not only an excellent apartment but a true friend in Paol

Verified reviewThe place was a vintage-maximalist heaven, really felt like a modern museum. Loved the history behind the host’s family treasures. Paul himself was an amazing host, eager to discuss, connect and recommend all the must-see places in Malta-along with cool and affordable diners, given our short 2-day trip. We felt so welcome, even though we only spent a night at Casa Nannakola. Breakfast served with absolute care, was a highlight of our stay! 🍓☀️🌱💛Hope we come back soon!

Verified reviewPaul made us feel like we were staying with old friends. His warmth and kindness made us want to stay with him even longer, not to mention the beautiful breakfast he made every morning. The dogs were a key feature as they waited for us outside the room for morning cuddles and escorted us down to breakfast where Paul prepared fresh fruit salad with a selection of other healthy bits to start our day right! The home was full of character with gorgeous decor and statement stone walls. Paul gave us the best recommendations for our first time in Malta, and we'll be visiting Paul again this year for more chats over breakfast and evenings watching the sunset on the terrace. I was lucky enough to have John his partner cut my hair too, again one of the best haircuts I've ever received! The whole experience was exceptional and Paul and John are THE best hosts we have ever had the pleasure to meet. We are greatful that we got to experience Malta with Paul being the first impression of the island. Thank you for making us feel so special in your wonderful home, we can't wait to see you again!

Verified reviewI can only echo what others have said; Paul is THE. Best. Host. Ever. We had a very early flight arriving in Malta, so I asked him if we could do an early check-in at an extra charge. He responded by saying we could just come over and he'd make us coffee, and as soon as our room was ready, we could already check in, no mention of extra charge. When we arrived, we were running very low on sleep. He made us coffee as promised, and we checked in already at 11am. Which was very much appreciated since we really needed to nap. He also gave us a lot of recommendations, due to limited time we couldn't check everything out but the one we did visit turned out to be amazing. And that roof terrace is beautiful. We also got lucky that there were fireworks. And of course, the sweet sweet doggos!! Location is great. Many shops and restaurants around, it was also close to the main street and bus stops, and still very quiet.
No disliked per se. But I missed the description of Paul and John being smokers. They actually reduced the smoking after I mentioned my sensitivity to cigarette smoke. It was my mistake, but they were still very accommodating! As a sensitive nonsmoker who got called selfish by a smoker because they couldn't smoke indoors whenever I was around (well sorry for needing to breathe I guess), it was heavily appreciated, and I simply can't thank them enough for their consideration.
Thank you for your kind words, it was really wonderful having you stay with us. I’m so sorry you didn’t know about the smoking. Hope you are ok 👍

Verified reviewStaying at Casa Nannacola was an amazing experience. Upon crossing the threshold, we were greeted by the owner, Paul, who is a wonderful, smiling and very helpful person, who makes you feel at home. He served us breakfast every day and always made sure that the bedding and towels were clean and fresh every day. The house is beautiful, preserved in the Maltese style. It is full of decorations and flowers. There are only two rooms for rent, so you can really feel at home. There is one shared bathroom with a bathtub, but this is not a big problem due to the number of people who use it during their stay. To sum up, the cleanliness, the intimacy of the place, access to breakfast, the location are big pluses, and Paul's hospitality is 10 out of 10.
You are very kind, thank you so much for your lovely review. It was such a pleasure having you stay with us 😘 hope you will return someday 🙏
