How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewour hosts André and Jana were very kind and helpful, and the apartment itself was clean, cozy, and thoughtfully decorated. The location is excellent—historic, romantic, peaceful, and well connected to transportation.
There were a few unexpected issues during our stay. The neighborhood was undergoing construction, so the charming street we had looked forward to wasn’t quite as picturesque as expected. On the second day, we were notified of a temporary water outage. Also, the apartment doesn’t receive much natural light, so we needed to keep the lights on during the day. Of course, these issues were beyond the hosts’ control, so I still gave the stay a 9 out of 10.

advertised with a balcony and netflix but actually was a very small courtyard surrounded by walls of the building and netflix only available if you use your own account , which we didnt have , tv remote control in loungroom needs replacing worn out and doesnt work well , very small shower

Regarding the remote control, if you had informed us about the issue, we would have fixed it immediately. The remote is not worn or damaged; it may simply have needed new batteries. Concerning the shower, the pictures clearly show the size on the pictures (120cm x 90cm), also the size of the room itself. While our listing mentions a ‘terrace’ and not a balcony, we apologise if this led to any misunderstanding. We always aim to present our property as accurately as possible and appreciate your input. Verified reviewSmall apartment, great for a weekend or a full-week. The kitchenette is super equipped, so cooking a meal for yourself is quite easy.
Location can be a bit noisy sometimes but not really a big concern. For car owners, you might need to park a few minutes away.

Verified reviewIt was a beautifully kept apartment exactly as described with very helpful hosts. They very kindly left some milk and snacks on arrival - milk was much appreciated! Plus, help me find great things to do on a New Year’s Eve. The bed was very comfy and there was a good amount of space including the shower where you could bend down to shave your legs! Added benefit of a study area that I used as a dressing area! Well appointed kitchen! Lovely little street location that was a quick walk to the ferry across to Valletta - only a 10mins walk not as far as google maps say as there is a new foot bridge. Also handily in ground floor so no need to carry a case up the stairs! Very handy electronic key on door so no need to carry a key!
Nothing - the property was perfect for my needs!! Though as a solo traveller I did put the giraffe ornament behind the door with it being on the ground floor and having an electronic key in case anyone tried to come in. The area was very safe and no issues but maybe a bolt inside you could secure to know you were fine would be helpful but really it was just a precaution - I was perfectly safe and would stay again!!!

Verified reviewWe have stayed at booking.com facilities the world over and never experienced anywhere close to the phenomenal communication we had at the Senglea property! All properties should emulate these hosts who were proactive before, during, and after our four night stay offering suggestions for tours, replacing a toaster promptly that didn't work, providing snacks, games, stationery, toiletries, AND tourist brochures. I appreciated being kindly notified what the expectations were of us in terms of recycling, and placing used towels in the hamper before checking out. So few properties have a matching set of china as this one did. How refreshing not to use mismatched china all the time! It was things like this that showed the hosts know how to welcome guests and make them feel at home. I loved the huge fridge and freezer so that I could freeze water bottles as freezer packs when we left!
When so much was absolutely perfect, it's hard to point out room for improvement as some concerns may have been outside their control. The water pressure in the shower was weak and there was only cold water in the kitchen sink (that was the norm in Sicily for instance). Instead of parking on the narrow street where the property was, we found it much easier to park by the city wall just a few minutes' walk away. It felt safe and was also free. There was considerable noise in the street outside the property each night and we could word for word from someone's TV even though the door was closed!
