How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe liked the space and the building was lovely. Pool was very welcome.
No air con or ceiling fans downstairs at all. There was standard fans which entities but not great in the peak of July. The house was dirty apart from the bathrooms. Filthy scourers in the kitchen cupboards. Had to clean the sink as soon as we got there. We couldn't sit on the lounge furniture outside as it was filthy as the homeless cats used the cushions as beds. There was mouse droppings on our bed base and floor round the bed in master bedroom. A man did come round and hoover once I reported this! Bedding old and faded but clean. The electric kept going off. The man that came to hoover said there was a new consumer unit to be fitter but the owner wasn't ready to get it fitted yet! Seemed like it was the ideal time to me. I did message the owner and asked for some kind of recompense as it wasn't cheap to stay here. I said I would leave an honest review bearing in mind I had already contacted him with the issues we encountered. He said I could say what I liked. He didn't need the money as it was his holiday home anyway. What a shame that he didn't care about the fact that we paid hard earned money to stay there and there were problems.

Verified reviewLocation was excellent. Could walk to a little supermarket, sights in Gharb, the coast and even a LOVELY winery for a very special wine tasting. Loved the decor - really showed the taste and personality of the owners. Pool and outside space was exceptional - lovely plants and decor. Bedrooms were large and well furnished. Great showers, comfy beds. Super well equipped kitchen.
Not everything worked. Coffee machine, some of the lighting. A once through to get everything 100% would make a big difference.

Verified reviewWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dar Dragun. The property is spacious, comfortable, well equipped (the best equipped kitchen we have seen in any place we have stayed) and decorated very tastefully and to a high standard. The beds were also comfortable, which often isn't the case in Maltese rentals! The terraces and pool area are spacious and very private. The location of the house is also very convenient, 5 minutes walk from a small supermarket, virtually next door to a large craft centre and close to bus stops to Victoria or down to the coast. Gharb is a very pretty village and an easy walk from the property and other places of interest, or places to eat, easily accessible by bus or Bolt taxi for example. Communication with the host was prompt, easy and helpful. I would throughly recommend Dar Dragun for a relaxing holiday on beautiful Gozo.
Nothing we didn't like.

Verified reviewThe place is spacious and very well equipped
The electrical wiring is very hazardous... Lots of extensions on extensions everywhere. Beds uncomfortable... Mattresses too worn out. They collapse beneath you.

Verified reviewThe whole house has character and is very beautifully furbished, with traditional furniture and blue accessories all around the house, be in carpets, bed linen, cushions, crockery, flower pots. I loved the quirky art sculptures all around the house. The beds were super comfortable, the shower state of the art, the pool area was constantly in the sun, loads of space to sunbathe and lounge around, an extra terrace for entertaining should you need it.
The floor of the pool area was not very clean and needed a good sweep. I like to paint and found that painting inside the house was impossible as the lighting was too dim. The cocks next door were a bit annoying and too noisy, but that's beyond anyone's control! :-)

Verified reviewI recommend planning at least one day to use all the villa's facilities. A large swimming pool, a spacious living room, a well-equipped kitchen with basic groceries. Each room with its own clean bathroom. You can spend evenings and meals on the lovely lit terrace. The villa is located close to the bus stop. The owner was very nice, no problem with contacting and collecting the keys from safe deposit box. Photos cannot convey the charming atmosphere of this place! I highly recommend it to anyone going to Gozo :)

Verified reviewEverything in the house was of a superior quality and it is beautifully decorated. The lounge would be an ideal spot for the winter as it gives off a cabin vibe, whilst the upper deck is the perfect place in summer to relax when sun goes down. Possibily one of the nicest and well stocked farmhouses I have rented in Gozo. Would surely rent again!
A few sign posts to locate the entrace would be nice as it is in a narrow passageway. An AC needs to be installed in the lounge as it can get quite warm.
Thank you Ryan! Very glad to see you enjoyed your stay. Get in touch with me for future stays.
