Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe booking advert says air con included but actually it's not. You have use coins to purchase the aircon. I was told 1 euro lasted 3 hours but actually it probably lasted 1. I was phtting in 8/ 9 euro each night. Feel like they should not be allowed to advertise aircon There are a lot of stairs which would be hard for anyone with big luggage or with health issues. Mattress was hard so struggled to sleep.
Great location. Modern bathroom and tiles in the bedroom. Cleaned daily to a very high standard.

MaltaIt is my first time when I see that to use air conditioning you need to put coins.. 1 euro not even last for 2,5 hours of air conditioning. In our room AC remote didn't work.. So you pay for AC additionally but you can not even set temperature and mode. For the hot country like Malta you need to think twice if you choose this guesthouse.
Location is great

United StatesDidn't care for the lack of lifts but it's an old building, what can you do?
I loved the staff and the food downstairs. The room was small but perfectly adequate and even the coin operated air conditioning was fairly cheap to run

United StatesNo lift, but not that big of a deal. No washing machine, but they'll send your laundry out to get done for €10 with a 24-hour turnaround. No mini-fridge in the room to keep your drinks cool, but there is a bar downstairs. My initial room was a small closet, but they put me into a nice, normal-sized room. I don't like seeing a coin-operated AC wall unit in the room; it makes it feel less like home. I realise this is a common occurrence in vacation towns where electricity is pricey. The WiFi was a tad spotty, but it may have also been my phone misbehaving. The TV doesn't have many channels for those of you who like background noise. This isn't a Smart TV with Netflix loaded, but that might be a positive, not a negative. Side sea view with tiny balcony, but still better than nothing.
The breakfast served outside was good and consistent. They will make you a vegetarian full English for those of you who don't eat pig. The colourful cast of characters that congregates outside each morning. The super helpful staff who will make things right. This forgives 80-90% of any inconveniences you may encounter. I almost left, but decided to stay because they took care of me. The location is great, right near the 310 and 322 bus stop. Lots to do in the area on foot. Yes, you can and will hear the waves at night as you fall asleep. This is a throwback to when Gozo was what you expected and wanted before Starbucks arrived on the island. The price of accommodation isn't that steep in the off-season, all things considered.

LatviaYou have to pay separately with coins to get the AC working for a certain amount of time. There was only a partial view to the sea. Door lock got stuck from time to time
It was clean, good location on a silent street, breakfast was perfect in the café just downstairs, balcony with double door.

DenmarkThe cleaning lady didn't come every day. I normally hang the 'do not disturb' on the first couple of days because I don't need new towels etc. already, but when I took it down, she still didn't come to the room. It would have been nice to have a kettle and a cup for tea in the room.
Very, very close to the water and the beach (even though the beach wasn't good for swimming, but there was a concrete platform with swimming ladders where it was perfect to swim from). I went in November, but I imagine it would be a very lively area on the waterfront in summer, full of restaurants, bars etc. Very cozy! The town itself is small so not much else to do, but for me that was perfect. I found free street parking one street away (part where there are white lines, NOT yellow)
