Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Beautiful historic home tucked away in a residential alley - very local, quiet and away from all the Valleta tourists. The space was beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend.

SwitzerlandThe flat was equipped with everything you can think of and actually nothing was missing, but we missed a spatula. A spatula would be great for preparing food in the frying pan (for example eggs). Two things that didn't bother us, but might bother someone else: - You can lower the sunshade in the bedroom and the sun doesn't really shine in your face in the morning, but you can't really darken the bedroom. - The boiler in the bathroom occasionally makes a noise like a kettle.
We were specifically looking for a flat in this area as it had to be near the sports hall where we were attending a tournament. The plus point was that the flat was in a very pretty and quiet area. It was also close to the harbour, restaurants, groceries, etc. We immediately felt very comfortable in the flat and loved it very much. Everything was very clean. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. Great bathroom. Nice little terrace where we had our breakfast every day. The host was always available and obliging and gave valuable tips. The flat looks exactly like in the pictures.

EstoniaI think if there is one detail that was hard was that there are no nearby grocery stores, so we just did a bit of extra planning by bringing things back from Valetta as needed via the ferry and it was fine.
WOW! This was one of our highlights in Malta and really one of the coolest places we've stayed in in a long time. David's place is truly a masterpiece and I can't imagine the work he put in to renovate it. The place is exactly as it looks in the pictures, it is small but luxurious, especially for two people. There are so many personalized touches throughout and you can tell all the love that was put in to this apartment. The private balcony, the luxurious bedding, the welcoming wine, even down to the small things such as oil and detergent to make sure we have a great stay. Wifi is strong everywhere except downstairs near the sofa and bathroom, as there are lots of thick walls there, but there is absolutely nothing that we can complain about. Thank you!

United KingdomHaving a plunge pool or hot tub would've been superb, although we realise this property would struggle (space limited) to provide that. More choice of TV channels (particularly English) would also be good but we watched very little tv anyway so absolutely no problem.
Location great. very well equipped. Modern in style. Very homely and comfortable.

The place is absolutely gorgeous and the host was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else if I were to visit Malta again!

United StatesWe wanted to stay in a traditional Maltese stone house, and it was absolutely gorgeous. The pictures don't do it justice. The place is just spectacular. An additional restroom downstairs is an added bonus. The location is good - 5-7 minutes to the ferry that takes you to Valetta. The neighborhood is fairly quiet, but there are good restaurants within a 10 minutes walk. We'd totally stay here again if we're ever back in Malta.

We loved our 18 day stay at this heritage house, beautifully renovated to have modern amenities but the old character was retained. Very special. Very nice quiet neighbourhood, not touristy. Short lovely walk to the harbour to catch the ferry to Valletta, relaxing. Great market in Birgu on Tuesday mornings for vegetables and fruit. Delicious pastizzis in the Birgu square close by. Bus stops very close, busses worked well to Mdina and Marsaxlokk. Convenient little store around the corner. We would gladly stay here again

NetherlandsVery little, just a few minor gripes mentioned above.
The house oozes atmosphere. Especially when you see the pictures of what it used to look like in the brochure, it's impressive what its been turned into. What the house may lack in extreme comfort (you need to take care of the open stairs, and the sleeper (?) couch wasn't the most comfortable), it makes up with style and a very well-equipped kitchen. It was a real experience to stay 3 nights in a place like this. David, the host, was very helpful through chat messages. The house is located in a quiet part of town, 10 minutes walking from the harbour where the Three Cities join. I actually liked this part of the city better than Valletta itself. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay.

United StatesThe floors seemed like they collect dust, but I think that's just the nature of a stone house. Also the kitchen was missing a spatula to flip eggs with. Very minor things!
We loved this house, it had so much style and character, but was still very cozy. The air con and hot water worked great. The dishwasher and laundry was a bonus. The street was also very quiet and only a 5 minute walk to the ferry to Valletta. Parking was also easy to find.

IrelandA true example of excellent hospitality. Very good meeting rooms and catering. For example, a lovely bottle of wine was chilling for us on arrival and some food, water bottles in the fridge. Our host David went over and above to accommodate our needs. Beautifully furnished in a historic building, very clean and well equipped. Also, it is a good location and a very quiet atmosphere. Highly recommended staying here.

NetherlandsNothing.
The house was beautifuly renovated in a perfect harmony of modern and traditional building construction and was fully furnished with everything you need for a perfectly comfortable stay. Washing machine, even laundry detergent, super soft towels and luxury toiletries. The fridge was even stocked with milk, bottled water, bread and cheese to set you off on your first day. The owner was super helpfull and kind, sending us usual tips of where to go or what to see. The house is situated in a quite residential neighbourhood and has a small but handy convenience store around the corner. It's a 10min walk to the waterfront of Birgu where a series of restaurants are situated and you have the most impressive view on the Grand Harbour. The ferry to Valetta is right at the harbour and goes every 30min. The area offers plenty of free nearby parking opportunities, though not right in front of the house. For us the location of the house offered the best of both worlds, being central to Valetta, Birgu, Sliema and restaurants but in a quiet neighbourhood for a quiet nights sleep.

Germanyreads maybe a little biased: nothing.
We had a lovely stay in David’s wonderful apartment, his place has inspired us. We travel a lot and can say that he has wowed us with his attention to detail, choice of quality of all furnishings and with his generosity. We know (equally expensive) places where we first had to go buy toilet paper, not so with David, everything was there. We were thrilled being his guests.

Czech RepublicEverything was perfectly clean, the host man was very kind. He got us everything what we needed for cooking, washing etc. The only bad thing is the location. Nearest beach is approximately 40/50 min by bus from the apartment, but it’s worth it, because the apartment is extremely beautiful.
