How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe property is gorgeous - massive and a wonderful space to fully relax in. There is a fully working kitchen and washing machine which is great. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.
Adding the cost of air con to an already very expensive rental seemed a little cheeky. The property will 100% require a car rental - there is nothing local to walk to. It would be good to provide more towels for the size of the property.
Thank you Tammy for your kind words about the villa’s space, comfort, and relaxing atmosphere, we’re so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Regarding the air conditioning, in Gozo it is standard practice for properties to operate on a coin system, and this is clearly stated on our Booking.com listing as well as in the information sheet provided prior to arrival. The villa is centrally located yet in a peaceful area, offering the perfect balance of tranquility and accessibility. We also recommend car hire as the most convenient way to explore the island, we also mention this before booking to help guests plan their trip. A complimentary maid service was provided during your stay and we would have happily offered additional towels at that time or at any other point had we known you needed them. We truly appreciate your feedback and are delighted that you found the villa to be a wonderful place to unwind. We hope to welcome you back again in the future.

Verified reviewGood, speedy communication from the hosts Large spacious villa Pleasant outside lightning in the entrance and around the pool. Good poolside furniture and the pool was lovely. After a slight issue with the air-conditioning payment system the hosts were quick to offer a refund.
Lots of noisy building work going on next door all day and then into the early evening revving of large tractors or lorry engines. Air-conditioning requires payments of €1 & €2 coins which we were meant to get exchanged at the local supermarket. Unfortunately the supermarket were a little reluctant to exchange from their limited supplies and we had to make a special trip to an ATM to get cash out to exchange. We also had the payment machine not accept all the coins one evening so the air con ran out which made for an unpleasant night for our girls. All a bit of a fiasco! Overall Cleanliness, condition and decor of the villa throughout was quite basic and a little poor. There were swimming pool tiles missing and green marks around the waterline, tired browning tiles throughout the building. Uncomfortable couches, grubby hearth and surround, basic bathrooms etc etc On our first day we were surprised to say hello to a brown rat as it ran through the garden as well. No guaranteed parking (I'd imagine a nightmare for visitors with multiple cars) but there were places a little away from the villa in the local village.

Verified reviewLovely, spacious villa. Nice pool and patio area. Very clean and had everything we needed. In a lovely village, with a supermarket 15 mins walk away. Friendly host, clear information.
The two not so great things are nothing to do with the villa or owner. There is a lot of building work going on Gozo so there was a big crane and a half built house over the back wall (but we got used to it and it wasn't particularly noisy) Lastly, you're very close to the other holiday villas so if you get rowdy neighbours, it can be a challenge!

Verified reviewWe loved absolutely everything. First of all, the communication from owners before and during our stay was on time and very informative. The guide that was send before our trip was also a great addition. About the Dar ta' Lonza villa - absolute perfection. Our expectations were definitely fulfilled. Our group consisted of 7 people and everyone one of us enjoyed clean and cozy rooms with 5 bathrooms, clean and warm pool with 6 sunbeds. There was washing machine and grill area. Next to our villa there was a bus stop so the transportation to different cities was easy and fast. Just one thing, there is construction going on right before the pool area (the fence is pretty high so we didn't saw, smelled or heard a thing at the moment), but you should have that in mind when booking as the house they are building will get much larger in the future. Personally, the construction didn't bothered as at all. Lastly, we definitely recommend this villa if you want cozy and chill experience. Loved everything!!

Verified reviewThe quiet rural atmosphere of Gharb and its surroundings.
We stayed for 10 days from the 18th March onwards. One suggestion would be that a steady supply of firewood for the open fire should be provided as it could be quite cold at night.

Verified reviewThe house is a beautiful house of character with a nice back yard with a pool and tasteful furniture. Kitchen is well equipped Communication was easy and we received good recommendations for where to eat and visit Gozo.
You will need to bring toiletries and apart from salt and pepper, you will need to bring all other things for preparing meals. During the colder months, the house is quite cold downstairs as there is no possibility to heat, but this is normal for such houses of character.

Verified reviewReally well situated in a good village. Clean and well set up in the house. Great property to stay at. Several restaurants within walking distance and shops close as well. Lovely morning sun on the terrace.
The sun left the terrace at about 3:30pm in September, but that wasn't really a problem.

Verified reviewVery nice holiday accommodation in a little village ( quiet - besides the bells of the church), with small pool and courtyard; nicely furnished. Everything we needed was available. Well working aircondition which was needed due to heat outside. We were invited to a complimentary cleaning service of the house during the stay.
On our booking.com confirmation aircondition was included in the quite significant high season rate. During our correspondence with the hosts before the trip we learned that we had to bring eur coins (quite a huge amount of coins for 8 nights!) in order to make the AirCo work.

Verified reviewWe stayed in Dar ta' Betta for 11 nights. Villa was stunning with beautiful features and a good size pool. The villa had a toilet and shower in each bedroom. There was also an outside toilet which came in handy when using the pool. The kitchen was well stocked. Beds were comfortable and towels provided. We requested a cot bed which was set up for us. Hosts were helpful and friendly. We had welcome bottles of water and local crisps. Location was close to central Victoria and surrounding beaches and bays. We received clear instructions on how to book in and hosts checked everything was good with our stay. Cleaner was very friendly. The pool guy came twice to check the chlorine levels in the pool. Local restaurants and shops just at the end of the road. Good AC in living room and both bedrooms. Coin operated and easy to use.
The local church has bells ringing every 15 mins 24/7 to tell the time. This wouldn’t stop us returning just good to know. Cannot park directly next to property but can find parking on the main road easily enough. Again wouldn’t stop us visiting.

Verified reviewThe location was near another villa where our friends were staying. The beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. It was within walking distance of a nice grocery store.
The downstairs was very cold inside when we arrived (9C or 48F). The booking used the term "AC" in the European way to mean both heating and cooling; so the heat is coin operated and it is only for the two upstairs bedrooms. The downstairs living area and kitchen remained cold for our entire visit. The host had somebody drop off wood for the fireplace, but it would not light, even when using the stove. We probably needed to buy a fire starter but by that time we had given up and were staying with our friends in another villa that had heat. Finding coins for the coin operated heat turned out to be more difficult than we thought. The grocery stores didn't want to give us coins and the banks weren't open for very long. We recommend you bring Euros with you!
