How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI like the fact that the guesthouse was well situated. It is easily accessible by public transport and close by to everywhere. We loved the rooms. It is very cold for the hot weather and very clean. There are no distractions from the other guests, also. The Guesthouse also had an iron with an ironing board.
The shower should have a door so that it doesn't wet the entire bathroom when you shower. Besides this, everything is great, and we love it.

Verified reviewI had a very difficult time finding this property. I had to take two taxis before I finally found it (with the aid of two restaurant workers who hailed a taxi for me with someone who actually knew the location of the property). Once I had figured out the "lay of the land", it was a great location because of the nearby bus stops which I used to go all over the island. I had some issues with keys and one night I blew a fuse in the room and lost the lights when I tried to use the electric kettle in the room. The manager was very good about coming to my aid on both these occaisions even though he was not living at the property. There was a well-appointed kitchen and even a washer and dryer but I did not need to use any of these during my stay. I would go back to this property if I ever returned to Malta.
Better directions of how to reach the property. There were a lot of directions for reaching it from the airport but I had taken a ferry from Sicily and had a hard time finding it.

Room with 2 beds, coupled but different in height. Small space to move. No open air window. Dark area in the night, so difficult to find location and apartament door C. A little too expensive.

Verified reviewThe only good thing there is to say is that the location is good
Mouldy rooms, impossible to contact the manager he just ignored us all the time. The whole room was damp and smelly from the mould, and he tried to make one of us stay in the room because he only had a 2 bed room left, then promised us a full refund and we only received half. This is a man who should not be managing an accommodation. Atrocious.

Verified reviewOn the pictures you can see that the kitchen is separated from the rooms, but in reality kitchen is leterally next to the rooms. Consequenty you can hear everyone who is there. In our case the other guests woke us 4 times during our 7 nights stay. The guests have no respect to others, like preparing meals at night (twice at 23:00 and twice at around 4 to 5 in the morning (prob. came back from party). Of course those courses resulted in night talks, debates, listening to music, videos up to one hour in the middle of the night, when you try to sleep. We also noted the owner. He replied that the message was sent forward. In the next night again, indian and arabic guy were doing the same till 00:30. We also told them to lower theie voices, but talking continued shortly after the message. On the walls of the appartment, it says don't disrupt the other guest, which was clearly broken several times. Owner seems to be a nice guy, so he probably didn't want to argue with other. In our 7 days stay, towels remain unchanged.

Verified reviewThe manager was fantastic - very communicative and responsive. He provided clear instructions with pictures for check-in and always answered our questions promptly. We were also pleased with the room, which had thoughtful amenities like a hairdryer and a socket adapter. The location is a major plus, with stores, restaurants, and bus stops all conveniently nearby. The kitchen is very well-equipped.
We were disappointed with a couple of things during our stay. First, although we booked a double room, the bed was just two lightweight single beds pushed together that separated easily, creating a gap in the middle. Second, there was no housekeeping service, perhaps because we stayed during the off-season. We were only provided with four bath towels, which was not enough for a week-long trip for two people.

Verified reviewStaff was not present on-site but communication was quick, easy and efficient via the booking app and Whatsapp. Spacious, modern, clean and comfortable.
Very small windows in rooms. No windows in 1 room nor in the common area. Sewage smell in 2 of the bathrooms. Noisy ventilation in bathroom.

room with a little window, dark and a strange smell. Our room was in door C, we struggled to find it. Had to call the number to ask where is it. It should be added in the message where to find it. Door C is in completely different building on the other side of the street… had to call to get this information.

Verified reviewThe place is clean, it has all the facilities one needs. It has a kitchen and laundry room. It's located near to the university in a quiet neighbourhood . Grocery shops and restaurants are nearby. 30 - 40 minutes walk away to Sliema or Valletta. Check-in was seamless and easy.
I got a room right next to the entrance, when people go in and out it was loud. Because the area is hilly, the room is semi basement and the window has no view, showing the floor on the streets. Nothing against that, but air conditioning was not working properly. It was programmed to turn off after 10 minutes of cooling and it could not be turned on again unless you lower the temperature to 17C. If window is opened, mosquitoes and dusts will come in. When I plugged in the water kettle to boil water, the fuse jumped and there was no more electricity in the whole room. The owner did send someone to fix but 4 nights there, I couldn't sleep a single night.

Verified reviewI arrived in Malta very late, around 1 AM. I had informed the accommodation in advance, and they assured me that late arrival wouldn’t be an issue since it was a self-check-in process. They even sent me photos of the key lockboxes. However, when I arrived, there was no key in the lockbox for my room, meaning I had no way to get inside. I immediately called both the contact number I had and the one listed on their website, but I received no response. There should have been a proper emergency contact number provided for situations like this. With no other option, I had to call around for alternative hotels in the area and ended up paying €100 to stay at the Grand Suites Hotel. If they hadn’t had availability, I would have been forced to either sit in the communal area with a group of strangers all night (which, as a young woman, would not have been ideal) or even wait outside on the street. At 7 AM the next morning, I finally received a text with the keypad code—far too late to be of any help. Fortunately, I was traveling with my Maltese boyfriend and was familiar with Malta, so I managed, but if I had been a young solo female traveler, this situation would have been extremely distressing. This issue could have been entirely avoided if management had simply ensured that a key was placed in the lockbox as promised. While I did return and stay for the next two nights, and the room itself was fine, I strongly believe I am owed a refund for the first night, which I could not use due to their negligence. Anyone considering booking this place should be aware of management’s lack of care for their guests.
Dear Clelland, Thanks for your review. We have been trying to contact you many times, but with no reply… please call the manager Robert on +356 99420402 … we need to settle this matter and see what really went wrong…regards, Paul
