How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The cocktails served in the area opposite to the check-in desk were undrinkable. The bar staff were obviously clueless. This is the reason for my downvote on the staff.

Verified reviewBreakfast fab, Room was opposite the sea which was a rocky coastline that the locals use every night leaving clubs & bars so it was a bit noisy & woke me up but I was told it was a party area so I knew to expect it. Staff are so nice & helpful. Always smiling too. I like this hotel & would defo stay again. The local area is nice for eating & drinking too. Pools are really nice, amazing family pool & adults only area pool too overlooking the sea.
Beds & pillows are not comfy, Worst pillows i have ever slept on.

Poor service regarding logistical arrangements While hotel needs some TLC - dirty carpets in hallways (for our full stay the carpet immediately outside our room had crumbs but we never ate going in or out the room. Dirty / broken menus. Pool toilets had the same deficiencies as a year ago. Perhaps someone could fix them up. Food at pool area is excessively priced. Sun umbrella bases used as ashtrays by some guests and not cleaned for the next day. Plug sockets in the room almost coming off the wall when unplugging things All of this would be ok if it was not billed a 5 star hotel and charged less for the rooms.

Certainly, during a very busy season such as this one, our rooms, public spaces and outdoor areas experience a great deal of foot traffic, and therefore, sadly, suffer a degree of wear and tear. We undertake a full deep-cleaning and preventive maintenance program during our quieter months, and make all the needed repairs or refurbishment. As always, however, it is very valuable to us to view our operation from a guest's perspective, and we thank you for bringing to our attention these issues of a cleanliness/maintenance nature, that have unfortunately left you with a less-than-positive impression. We have discussed each of the shortfalls to which you have drawn our attention with the respective teams, and each team will take the necessary action to remedy them. There is little to complain about, my son missed his memory foam pillow he is used to.

The reception staff are a pain. I rang to explain I was travelling with a disabled child with cerebral palsy and autism so a room close to the elevator and one with a covered balcony was better for him (he sits in the room some of the day so nice for him to sit in the sun without burning) we turned up after a late flight at 9pm to a room on the 11th floor a very long walk and two lifts away from the facilities when asked to move no other room was available with a balcony and at midnight finally the "discovered one" by this point I had a tired kid on my hands and was unimpressed, very in flexible about late check out if you have a late flight home repeatedly have to check availability with them (it doesn't matter if you offer to pay they'll claim to have no room for you even if they have 10 available on booking.com. This is my second stay at this hotel in a matter of about 8 weeks and I won't come back it's boring to have to kick up a fuss just to be treated like a pain by sour faced reception staff. Don't travel with disabled people they guarantee nothing. Sadly made the trip stressful. To be clear their other staff appear to be lovely so it's just a real shame

The high occupancy of the hotel also restricted our flexibility with regard to late check out, as almost all of our rooms were booked that night, and we expected a number of last-minute reservations. We appreciate that this stay did not start as smoothly as you would have wished, and we would have liked to assist you further. The fact that a large conference over ran the property and restricted access to some guest facilities. The associated noise from this conference was unacceptable to holidaying guests paying good money for peace and serenity. The adults only pools were not managed to ensure that children were not permitted in those pools. The parents of such children were just not complying and Hilton staff seeming to “roll over or ignore”. We were in a room that experienced a lot of noise both early morning and late night from gym weights being dropped on the floor. This noise just resonated through our room. Complaints were made by me, however it took too long for staff the relied that this was a real issue. Ultimately after escalated complaint was it considered as valid. This should not happen in a 5 star hotel such as HILTON MALTA !

Our hotel is indeed much in demand as a venue for meetings and conferences, and we have a large conference centre and several meeting rooms. We appreciate that, when we recently hosted a large group in the hotel, our public spaces were very busy. During such times we do our best to ensure that the experience of our leisure guests is not affected by the high level of activity created by such groups, and we are sorry to have failed to achieve this in your case. We are also disappointed that you were disturbed in your room by sounds from our gym, and that the high occupancy of the hotel prevented us from immediately finding an alternative room for you. We hope you were entirely comfortable in the room in which you were subsequently accommodated. Your feedback regarding the presence of children at our adults-only Merkanti Beach Club is appreciated, and we thank you for bringing this to our attention. Clearly, despite our team's efforts, this space, intended for persons aged 16 or over, is being visited also by families with young children. We shall renew our efforts to ensure that young families are accommodated at the main pool, leaving Merkanti for our older guests. Verified reviewAmong a lot of perfect things, I would like to highlight that, the food- and the kindness of the staff was extraordinary.
We only disliked the centrally controlled AC in the room. Because during the nights it cooled down the room unneccessarily and only opening the balcony door stopped it -as we experienced. Indeed it was fine during most of our nights, even when the hotel was hosting a wedding party, but one night was too noisy due to loud youngsters partying till 5 AM in the nearby. Of course I totally understand what is in the background and why that is so, but during that night it was an issue for us.
