How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe hotel is near to the beach, restaurants and shopping malls. If you like nightlife - a bunch of clubs are just a few steps away, however we weren't disturbed by the noise in our room. Bus stations also fairly close with good connection with the rest of Malta. We had a possibility of using outdoor pool and enjoyed a lot. Very close is Odissey which is a great recommendarion to learn more about history of Malta in a super exciting way - both for kids and adults. The staff is fantastic - kind and ready to help.

We’re sorry to hear about your disappointment regarding the balcony seating and the outdoor pool access. While we currently do not provide chairs on all balconies due to its site, however we do accomodate guests requests on whoever would like a chair on their balcony. Additionally, we appreciate your comment and will certainly take it into consideration for future improvements. As for the outdoor pool, it is part of a neighbouring property with separate facilities, and access is available at a discounted rate for our guests for 20 Euro per room per night. Long way to get to the shared facilities at Intercontinental Hotel especially with kids or for the elderly. There were not enough signs in corridor and lifts to the shared facilities. In fact, we got lost!

While we do not have a 24/7 on-site concierge, we’re pleased to offer complimentary concierge services through our sister property, the InterContinental, which is just next door and can be accessed internally. For added convenience, mini-fridges are available upon request for a small daily fee, and they are included at no extra charge in our suite bookings. Additionally, our guests are welcome to enjoy the spa facilities at the InterContinental, which can be arranged through our front desk team. It is a bit pricey (174 euro per night), for what it is worth, a 3 star hotel in Malta. Considering that this is a cheap country, for that price I would expect the hotel to have an indoor/outdoor pool, free access to the gym etc (you have access to the pools/gym of the sister Intercontinental Hotel for 20 Euros per day, this is explicitly stated on their website, so no hard feelings about that, but still). The cleaning was also not on par, I saw my sheet with the same stain being tossed and turned for 8 days (not too much of a hygiene freak here, so it is ok). Considering the fact that in much more expensive countries like Finland, I stayed in hotels that are cheaper and more luxurious, the price is too much (albeit this is high season, I might understand the reasoning but still). The staff is wonderful, some of the best, competent and kindest I have seen. I am quite happy with the stay, but I don't think with these details the hotel deserves the 9 stars that it has, it is high 7s (7.5 - 7.7) for me overall. Overall quite happy, but these imho have to be pointed out.

Verified reviewOur room was one of the connecting rooms. One morning, the guests in the adjacent room forcefully tried to open our door and somehow managed to do so. When we reported the issue, the hotel manager Maria listened to us with great care and provided an effective solution. I would like to thank her in particular. I will definitely choose this hotel again during my next visit to Malta.
The breakfast options were limited. There was always a queue at the coffee machine — adding an additional machine could improve the experience.

Verified reviewThere is a bar street next to the hotel. My room did not face to street but to the inside (no view of the street). Even in this case, I can still here the noise from 10 PM to about 4 AM. If you like the bar street, this hotel will be very convenient to you. If you don't, may be you can select somewhere else which is more quiet.
