Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyJL Hotel is in an excellent position in St. Julian's. It is a few steps away from all the night activities, Mercury tower, shopping, necessities, bus stops and even a rocky beach. I love how it offers peace in such a busy place. Once you get there, you will understand. Continental breakfast is aprpeciated, consistent and staff are pretty nice. The pool is cute, good for an early swim and sun bathing or even at sunset time. Just be ready to carry your luggage on a few flight of stairs to get on the reception. I love that they offer you support and help your requests. Would recommend! :)

NorwayI did not like the black hallway! There is no lights nor windows. The hallway is painted totally place and you have a pink light.. so you feel like you are in a brothel If you are in Malta to experience culture - I’d rather stay in silema, Valletta or the three cities!
The room was clean, modern and very silent (no noise from any neighbours ). I loved the breakfast view from the terrasse ! And breakfast was easy but very good! Fresh orange juice everyday! Staff was pleasant. If you are here for a party trip you’re in the middle of everything - and this would be great!

United StatesThe property itself was great, the buffet breakfast was amazing. You’re super close to all the nightlife so sleeping at night was harder because you heard all the activities until 4 AM.

HungaryThe breakfast was the same every day, which became repetitive. Ongoing construction early in the morning and loud parties at night can be disturbing, especially for light sleepers. There’s no reception or staff available after 8 PM, so there’s no one to manage noise or guest behavior during the night. The room also looked very different from the pictures—much smaller, with a small window facing a wall.
Great location with friendly staff. The equipment and facilities are modern, and we appreciated the small gifts provided. Shops and other amenities are conveniently close.

BulgariaBathroom's door is transparent, for couple there is no problem but when you are with friends or somebody from your family is a little unconfortable. The window has a view of the interior of the building, the space is small, narrow and very close to others rooms. It is like a ventilation shaft.
The location is excellent. There are many restaurants, bars close to the hotel. There is a supermarket arround, also bus stops. The view on the 9th floor is great. In the room has any kind toiletries - shower gel, lotion, toothbrush, toothpaste, shaver, wipes for shoes, also shoehorn and earplugs. The staff is very kind, friendly and helpful. A big plus is self check in/out when your flight is late/early.

RomaniaThe building next to the hotel was under construction and was a lot of noise during the day. Because of the building layout 2 of the rooms on each floor have a window to a ventilation system. The swimming pool form the rooftop is extremely small and shallow.
Hotel staff was really pleasant. Always tried to assist us. Breakfast was good. It was diverse and always refilled. Hotel's location is close to many points of interest and bus stations.

RomaniaThe elevator has an annoying creak, especially the door. The bathroom door that from the outside of the bathroom you can't close it due to the lack of a door handle. The main entrance, which is full of dust and dirt.
The hotel is near the main bus stations; If you're a night life lover, it is the perfect location; The comfortable bed and pillows.

RomaniaThere was a strange sound which comes from the ceiling that started whenever the fridge also started to make some noise. Room number 602, maybe they fix this annoying issue. Despite the fact that the breakfast is made of quality ingredients, the fact that it is the same everyday is something that can be improved.
The room is clean, the breakfast is good. The location is good, there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby.

United KingdomThere are a lot of stairs to the reception and with a heavy case that not ideal. There was a strong smell of air freshener in my room on the first night that was overpowering, even with a window open I couldn’t get rid of it. Toxic chemicals are not my thing.
It’s was a very sleek and modern hotel. The beds were very comfortable and that made my stay comfortable and relaxed.
