How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe were absolutely delighted with our stay — the place exceeded our expectations! The apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. The swimming pool was large, deep, and perfect for a refreshing dip at any time of day. The sea is just a 5-minute walk downhill, and the beach, though rocky, is ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Along the seafront, there are plenty of cozy cafes and lively bars, so you can always find a spot to unwind and enjoy the local atmosphere. The sunset views from the area are simply breathtaking. For some, the steep uphill walk back to the villa might be a minor challenge, but honestly, this small detail didn’t affect our overall experience in the slightest. We truly enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend these apartments to anyone looking for a peaceful and scenic getaway. Who knows — we might even come back ourselves one day!

Verified reviewAccomodation was perfect for a family with all facilities including kitchen, two bathrooms, washing machine, air con and fabulous pool. Location was perfect, walking distance to Xlendi beach and restaurants. Our host Simon was fantastic and always available if you had any queries. Would definitely consider returning on our next Gozo trip.

Verified reviewEverything was perfect, felt like we where home. Very clean and comfortable. Perfect location. Everything we needed was available in our apartment.
Just the stairs to go up and down to get to the apartment especially with luggage 😅 but we called it exercise👍🏻

Verified reviewBeautiful apartment with everything you could need and more. Met by the host Simon and shown to our apartment.
Nothing about the property. Just the hill down to restaurants was a bit of an effort when walking back up.

Verified reviewThere are a few reasons to stay at this beautiful place: first, a lot of space. Both the bedroom and the studio are spacious. Second, you will find everything you need in the kitchen. Third, the facility is new, fresh, with ambient lighting and modern equipment. Besides, there were no problems with the parking, it takes 5 min to get to the harbor with a few good restaurants, and one can also use a swimming pool in the yard.
The water heater can easily be turned off by mistake, it takes some time to understand how all the switches in the apartment function.

Verified reviewWe stayed at Villa Marni as a couple in August 2024. Our apartment was clean, bright and decorated with taste. It had a terrasse, a 200x200 bed and a view down on to the swimming pool. The swimming pool was also perfectly maintained and respectfully shared between the guests. Simon - our host - lives nearby and was very welcoming and reachable. We will gladly book the same apartment again at Villa Marni when we come back to Xlendi.

Verified reviewLocation was very good. Walking distance from beach and restaurants
AC can only be switched on via a coin meter, considering the hot weather in Malta. Shower is too small and the pool water wasn’t very clear. Nevertheless the apartment has a very spacious bedroom and living/kitchen area.

Verified reviewIt is a lovely place - quiet area, easy 15min ish walk down into the village with a good number of bars and some really good restaurants. Amazing sunsets. You can swim off the rocks in the village - its got lifeguards. Quite a steep hill back up to property but its really not far at all! Also a great little supermarket on the main road going out of the village opposite the main car park. Good base for exploring the island (we had a hire car). Easy parking outside the property, lovely modern stylish apartment with lots of room and everything you need. Big airy bedroom, very comfy bed & linen. Good area with desk/top and chair - to put toiletries/make up etc. Lots of cupboard storage for clothes. Great air con and large ceiling fans - also air con v reasonably priced. Bathroom was nice & clean, quite small but enough room. Shower was fine, a little gentle for what we are used to but not a problem. Only slight niggle was occasional noisy drainage from the bathroom but it was quite random! Also the bedroom window could do with a blackout curtain as v bright in mornings! Lounge/kitchen was lovely - roomy & bright. Floor to ceiling windows and doors with good blinds. Kitchen had everything you could want, plus v useful cupboard where previous guests have left herbs, salt, dry goods, oil etc (within date) - so you have bits to use. Dishwasher and washing machine were handy. Outdoor balcony with couple chairs & coffee table. We would go back again - highly recommend the apartment, location & hosts.
We liked everything - but would have been v pleased to have a Blackout curtain for bedroom. Balcony - would be great to have a high table so you could eat outside. Also maybe the option of taking foldable comfy chairs or lounger onto balcony.

Verified reviewGreat value for money and gorgeous place to stay, great facilities also
There wasn’t anything that made me dislike the property, you do have to pay for air conditioning separately but the host is great at accommodating change when needed and this wasn’t a problem.

Verified reviewWe loved the apartment and the pool . It was first class. Xlendi is not a pretty bay but all the restaurants were very good and reasonable
The roads across Gozo were constantly gridlocked, especially at weekends with double-decker buses and large coaches on the roads, but the infrastructure does not yet exist. We gave up exploring the island in our car on our second day and stayed in xlendi
