How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The fact that the hot tub functions did not work
Good afternoon, Thanks for your review... something we wanted to clarify is that the hot tub was checked and it perfectly works fine... also you could have easily told us and we would have told you how it works as the hot tub it have to be filled up and than switched on .. after your check out when we checked the room there was not even a trace of water in the tub so it was definately not even even filled up. Also even if the tub as you said was not working properly the least you could do is to advise in the morning during breakfast so we would have checked it out. Thanks again Kelly

Verified reviewWe stayed only for one night and we enjoyed it! Rooms look as presented here on photos. Although it's not exactly our interior design taste, rooms are spacious, everything was clean and nice. Beds and pillow were really comfortable and we had very good sleep! Location is perfect although be prepared to leave car somewhere on the street, as access to hotel is only for pedestrians. But it is great to go for a walk to Mdina during day or by night.
Unfortunately breakfast could have been better. Scrambled eggs were good but omelette or BLT sandwich not so much. However the choice was quite big (you can choose from menu or from the counter).

Verified reviewThe hotel was in a good location. The room was very large with a sofa in it and the facilities were excellent. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was very good and we also had a very good meal in the restaurant in the evening. All in all an excellent stay and fantastic value. Thoroughly recommended and would come back again and stay in the future.
Nothing.

Verified reviewSuperb breakfasts. Some items on buffet and a cooked breakfast specially prepared as ordered. Excellent.
Would have been nice if there was a handle in the shower to avoid the danger of a fall.

Verified reviewIt was in a great location on a quiet street with no traffic, but easy walk to historic sites and restaurants.
The furnishings and decor were dated and cheap looking. It was not cosy at all and we didn’t want to hang around there.

Verified reviewThe Adelphi Boutique is a converted cinema, so space does not appear to be a problem. It is located on a pedestrian street in a very quiet area,. The room was huge, had a lovely balcony benefiting from afternoon and evening sun. There is a successful restaurant as part of the hotel. Breakfast was fresh, good and efficient. Stsaff, although not always on site, were available and helpful.

Verified reviewThe location was very good, very close to main Rabat attractions. Within walking distance from Mdina. The room was spacious and beautifully designed.
Unfortunately, my boyfriend became very ill after eating a burger from the hotel restaurant. He started feeling unwell just a few hours later, with stomach pain and vomiting throughout the night, and we spent most of our Easter holiday focused on his recovery. While the hotel did compensate the meal, we had already paid a significant amount to spend the holidays there, and the experience ended up being very disappointing. Aside from offering tea and plain rice after I asked, the staff didn’t show much care or initiative. They were very defensive, didn’t accept any responsibility, and made us feel uncomfortable for even raising the issue. We also weren’t granted a late checkout, even though his stomach was still unwell, and had to head to the airport hours early just to have access to a couch and restroom. The room itself faced the church bells, which rang loudly and often, even early in the morning. Combined with noisy neighbours, a mewing cat in the middle of the night, and lack of soundproofing, sleep was difficult. That said, if it hadn’t been for the food poisoning and how poorly it was handled, we could have overlooked the rest thanks to the convenient location and beautiful room. A bit of proactive assistance and empathy could have gone a long way.
As explained at the premises we were sure that the stomach ache your boyfriend had was certainly not from the burger since the staff and more people at the restaurant ate the same and no one complained. Also we noted that after telling us that your Boyfriend got sick, you came down at the restaurant with a bag full of empty wraps of chocolate and sweets , so surely as it was your first night your boyfriend did not eat only the burger that he ordered from the restaurant. Regarding the late check out as we told you it was not possible as your room was booked just after you and had to be cleaned thoroughly especially since you said your boyfriend was very sick..... but we did offer you to leave the luggage ... which you did.. Also please note that your boyfriend got quite better on the last morning since you both ate quite a good breakfast before you left.
