How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe place is quiet and relaxing..Very clean, and the jacuzzi on the roof was great,my dog enjoyed the roof.
I was disappointed with the breakfast. Not a Maltese breakfast at all and it was very limited. We only had 1 boiled egg each,1 toast, cereal which is for kids,2 tablespoons yoghurt and 3 small fruits for 2 people. There was also a small piece of cake each which all was from Lidl.I expected home made from Gozitans. The bathroom accessories,we were given 1 medium and 1 small towel each from Friday to Sunday,we had to pay for extra, which I didn't,the shower gel was a small bottle 10 ml for a whole weekend, since summer we needed to have showers frequently.
Thank you, Gloria, for taking the time to share your feedback. It was a real pleasure to host you and your dog at our B&B. We would just like to clarify a few points for future guests who may read this review. Our property is a family-run Bed & Breakfast, not a hotel, and as clearly indicated in the listing we provide a continental breakfast, not a traditional Gozitan breakfast. This includes bread or toast, eggs, yogurt, cereals, fruit, and cake. The yogurt is served as a full portion per person, not just a spoonful, and the fruit provided is standard-sized, never intentionally “small.” The cake is not homemade, but it is not sourced from Lidl either – we do sometimes buy from local suppliers. As for towels, the policy is a change every three nights (with a full change of sheets and towels every seven nights). For shorter stays, we provide one bath towel and one face towel per person, plus a bath mat. Of course, had you requested an extra towel, we would have been happy to provide it. The small toiletries are part of a complimentary welcome set – not something usually included in B&Bs – which we offer as an additional comfort. Finally, we would also like to kindly remind that there is a €10 pet fee, which was not paid in this case. We thank you once again for staying with us, and we wish you all the best for your future travels.

Verified reviewLocation excellent. Family was very helpful and friendly. It was clean however we were there for three night and were never offered any top up toilet roll or clean towels.
No complementary water just a small inexpensive bottle in the fridge would have been nice after a long journey. Tea, coffee toilet rolls, towels - top ups were never offered. Description lead to believe terrace was exclusive but it was used for washing and did not feel private as described.Extras such as water, washing were expensive.
Dear Kerry, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We truly appreciate every comment as it helps us improve the experience for our guests. We are glad you found the location excellent, the apartment clean, and our family welcoming. At the same time, we would like to clarify a few points: • As a family-run B&B (and not a hotel), our service model is a little different. Towel changes are scheduled every three nights, and a full change of sheets and towels, along with a complete cleaning, is done every seven nights. After three nights, we also provide a partial bathroom refresh. For shorter stays, this usually meets guests’ needs. • For toilet paper, we always provide two new rolls in the room, which in most cases is sufficient for a three-night stay. Of course, if you had needed more, we would have been happy to provide it — it would have been enough to let us know. • Regarding water: there is a free dispenser of fresh drinking water available in the kitchen, which was pointed out during check-in, so guests can help themselves anytime. For tea and coffee, we provide a welcome set, and we are always glad to give more if asked, though daily replenishment is not included (as might be in a 5-star hotel). • About the terrace: our description clearly states the layout, and the private area for guests is separated and reserved. There is another space we sometimes use to hang laundry, though we usually rely on the dryer, so it is rarely in use. • Finally, regarding extras such as water or beer: we don’t run this as a profit service. On the contrary, we offer them at prices at least 50% lower than local bars or shops, so that guests can enjoy convenience without having to go out. We are sorry if these details did not fully meet your expectations, but we are grateful for your stay and your comments, and we hope to welcome you again in the future for an even better experience. Warm regards

Verified reviewI liked the privacy of the room, we had a floor to ourselves, with access to a hot tub. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was very basic but enough.. The host was very friendly also
Parking is incredibly hard, the location was difficult to find and the B&B had one common TV instead of one in the room but this ended up being a positive thing.. .

Verified reviewWe were the only ones using the pool. The place was clean.
Our room's air conditioning unit was situated at the top of the wardrobe, and despite its operation, we did not experience the cooling effect as effectively as we would have liked.

Verified reviewIt was nice , the structure of the building and the room was comfortable.
There was a weird smell in the bedroom, and overall didnt feel clean. Mini fridge of the room was empty , and was disappointed that there wasnt a service that they sell drinks by the Hot Tub. Felt that it should have been included. ( or at least someone in the building serving different types of cold beverages)
Dear Jake, Gilju B&B is an host family accommodation… is not a hotel. But thank you for staying with us.
