Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomCould do with a mirror in the main bedroom. The iron has lost its cover on the handle so looks a little unsafe to use as the base cover is loose. Could do with extra wine glasses as there were only 2 which was ok for us but for other groups staying, they may need additional ones.
It's an amazing house ! The roof top terrace was incredible ! Absolute best part about the property. Spacious with table and chairs, with unobstructed views over the harbour. You can watch the sunrise and the moon as it ascends, and observe the Maltese congregate around the harbour in the evenings. Very relaxing especially as we didn't have any neighbours in the adjoining property. Plenty of restaurants, cafes, ice cream parlours around the harbour but its not a noisy area. It's mainly local residents and some tourists (couples, families). The rooms are spacious with great air con. But, there are 52 steps up a spiral staircase from the ground floor (kitchen and lounge) to the roof top terrace and upstairs bathroom. It is not suitable for the less mobile as you spend a lot of time climbing up and down the stairs! There was some traffic noise early in the morning around 6am onwards as it overlooks a road but ear plugs were supplied if it is an area of concern. Marsakala is a lovely place. It has a relaxed vibe . Great pizza place on the harbour. Tal Familja was a superb family owned fish restaurant. Highly recommend them both. We had a car and parking was easy. Often spaces in car parking area opposite the house or along harbour front. The Orient Market on opposite side of harbour sells a wide range of food types and cuisines. Maypole supermarket (less than 10 mins walk) has a great bakery and veg section. Lidl is about 15-20mins away by car. Bus stop is directly outside the house - to Valleta, Marsaxlokk St Thomas Bay beach is 20min walk . Great bar/restaurant on the beach with lovely atmosphere. Owners replied to our queries promptly.

GermanyThe traffic can be a little bit loud but it is okay. The couch or the blanket smells funny.
The roof terrace is supercool and the rooms are also top.

GermanyWonderful location. We enjoyed the roof top with it's BBQ every morning and evening. The many steps could be a challenge for walking impaired, but we did not mind. The kitchen was equipped well and parking no problem.

United KingdomReally nothing to say here.
A lovely property, spacious and everything you need all in a Great location, not only in itself but also to access other areas of Malta. If you know Malta, parking in most areas can be a nightmare but here we never had a problem, for the whole 2 weeks we were able to park directly outside. It was great to catch the last of the sun in the evenings sat on the terrace, overlooking the bay. Great communication with the owner who was keen to ensure everything went smoothly.

United KingdomWe had some very, very minor issues. One, there weren't enough saucepans to cook a meal. In general we ate out anyway, but a couple of pans would have been handy on one occasion. We couldn't find a tray to carry food, drinks, plates, mugs and glasses up to the terrace so improvised with a baking pan. There was lots of nice quality crockery, glasses and cutlery though, more than enough for us. Also the sofas in the lounge were a little uncomfortable - one sofa in particular was in two pieces and kept sliding apart. Not a major problem as we hardly used the lounge, but maybe in cooler weather it would be nice to have more relaxing furniture.
Skalina was an excellent location for us. We were a couple age 60+ and 2 of our adult children. Right close to Marsaskala village centre with easy access to restaurants, shops, bars, and the lovely marina area, and an interesting coast line with swimming beach nearby (Zonquor). We hired a car, but for any one who uses public transport there is a bus stop right outside the property. Malta is small and anywhere is only a convenient drive or bus ride away. The house is on 4 floors including the roof terrace. It was immaculately clean and large enough for a family of 4 or 5, with large, comfortable bedrooms and air-conditioning throughout. The roof terrace was especially attractive and we spent many hours there just eating, drinking, chilling and watching the world go by. There is a gas barbecue which we didn't use but the fridge/freezer on the top floor was useful. It can get noisy in the evenings but we found that to be an enjoyable part of the vibe. Communication with the owner was excellent, and she always replied very promptly.
