How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe apartment is very spacious, it has a beautiful view and the location is absolutely perfect. Easy to find parking, walkable distance to center. The kitchen is equipped with every tool and utensil you might need for cooking (although olive oil and coffee pods were missing)
A few small things could have been improved. Lots of house rules. The bathrooms were not too comfortable, the water pressure was quite low. The air conditioner was leaking a bit. Some insects but nature is hard to control.

Verified reviewThe apartment was very spacious and well equipped, and in a decent location, the beds were comfortable and the view was excellent, with two bathrooms and 2 large rooms, with sofa beds it’s great for a group to stay in.
There was a lot of strict rules around energy consumption and towels and some over priced extra fees, for additions, such as early check in/check out and visiting guests, aswell as airport pickup. Similar apartment stays I have visited were far less strict on these small extras, either non existent or for very little money, but we didn’t end up using any of these in the end.
He was secretly allowed 3 additional guests to check in without notifying them. A fake payment document was sent after agreeing to pay extra for accommodation and fines. The money didn't arrive. It's real fraud twice in a row. 452 euro due.

Verified reviewLarge apartment with nice balcony, good equipped kitchen. Very nice staff, but the whole process was extremely irritating. Several times asking how many people do come with the comment, "we don't want to prepare beds for nothing", and so in.
The mattresses were awful. Maybe 5-7 cm high, bad quality, my hips hit the hard wood below the mattress, air condition didn't work, room under water, comment from service man (who btw was very nice and tried to help, thanks Michael!): repair man comes (maybe) end of week, well, that would have been after we left 😡, and I HAD TO EXPLAIN how it works, then it worked. Be aware: 1 bathroom (shower) is OK, but in the second you can use the wash basin and the toilet as urinal basin for men, as a larger person you can't sit there because the distance to the wall is maybe 5 cm, and the door frame is pushing into your femur (leg), the bathtub is rather for small ladies sized 150 cm, and it's NOT a second shower. So... not really that what they write in their descriptions. In addition, apartment is way up the hill, you can't walk there, you need a taxi or bus, but be aware how long the bus is available!
We always treat our guests with great respect. All team members, management, cleaning and marketing, make every effort to make our guests' stay unforgettable. It becomes a shame for the work of all team members when you receive such an unfair review from a guest. Despite the advanced age of the guests, Dietrich and his companion simply could not turn on the cold climate on the air conditioner to get the required temperature. Over the 2 years of operation of the facility, not a single guest has complained about the quality of the mattresses, the height of which is higher than 12.5 cm, and there is even a double mattress in the main bedroom. The biggest surprise for us was to see a rating of 5 for cleanliness. This is generally not possible in principle due to the fact that we withstand strict cleaning requirements and check the preparation of the facility in terms of cleanliness. We have never had ANY complaints about this. Including during the stay of Dietrich and his companion. From which I can conclude that Dietrich simply gave ratings without thinking because of a hard-to-explain resentment and simply his inability to live, unfairly insulting with his ratings the people who care about him. I'm really sorry.
