How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe had already came here 2 years prior. the pool was still lovely and cool even in the nice sun the beach chairs provided were lovely and comfortable. we were surprised to know that the burners were changed and modernized and so was the bathroom. I love the fact that Cats will visit you if your cooking on the BBQ.
because of the sun being present swimming on the pool its more common to get sunburns, however this can be solved by being dedicated to applying sun protection. depending on the person people might not like the fact that cats will visit unprompted while cooking.

Verified reviewLoved the location (just outside Victoria), the pool, the facilities, the cleanliness, the setting (overlooking the Lunzjata valley) and the traditional building. Our host, Thomas, is a lovely man who is on hand if needed but otherwise leaves you alone to just enjoy your holiday. In short, absolutely EVERYTHING!
Having to leave 😪

Verified reviewThe swimming pool is a good size with the added bonus of the jacuzzi. Spacious living area and with separate kitchen. Large, very comfy bed with terrace overlooking the valley, great for early morning coffee. The owner meets us on site and is very helpful with the knowledge of the house and the area. Great stay for every occasion.

Verified reviewThe pool area was very good and the views from the back of the property were excellent.
The property was not as described on Booking.com. There was no sofa in the property. The only seating other than dining chairs were very uncomfortable cane chairs. Not acceptable that the photos and descriptions on Bookings show and state the property contains a sofa. There is no access to the bedrooms from the living room area. You have to enter the bedrooms from an external stone staircase. This may be okay during summertime but during November during darkness and with poor lighting it is dangerous. The Main bedroom only had a sheet on the bed unlike the photos on Bookings.com, a number of blankets were in a wardrobe but were covered in hairs. The property lacked the basics you get elsewhere, No shower gel,no soap, no items in kitchen for cooking ie salt pepper cooking oil, kitchen roll, no welcome pack ie milk, bread, fruit, etc We have stayed in many countries and have never encountered anything similar before. We checked out 2 days early.
We are sorry that the house did not meet your expectations. We are currently in the process of renovating the living room (hence some minor differences from the photos shown) and are awaiting a new sofa which was ordered. Once this arrives, new photos will be posted on the page. This is a restored millhouse and most similar old houses have external staircases to access the upper floors. I will take up your comment about the blanket with the laundry company we engage. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, no reusable kitchen items, such as salt, pepper etc are left in the house. The property is self-catering so food items and drinks need to be bought by guests from a supermarket. We will state that the property is self-catering clearly on the booking.com page as we have realised this might not have been very clear initially. On arrival we asked you to contact us should you need anything during your stay, as is done routinely with all guests. Had you communicated your concerns with us at the beginning of your stay, we'd have been more than happy to discuss and resolve these issues to your satisfaction. Nonetheless, we thank you for your feedback, of which we have taken note.

Verified reviewThomas was a fantastic host. He met us to hand over the keys, was responsive to all our messages, sorted out an issue we had immediately and even booked a restaurant for us. When we left, we felt we were leaving a friend behind! The property is very interesting and quirky with lots of history. The views from the property are lovely as it looks over a lush valley towards the citadel.... But is an easy walk into Victoria. We tried the local shops including David's bakery, which were perfect. We will be recommending this property to friends.
Nothing!

Verified reviewThe location meant we could escape from the hustle and bustle of everything which is exactly what we wanted for our honeymoon. Thomas (owner) was a lovely guy. We couldn't have asked for a better host. The house is just perfect and with a private pool not overlooked by anyone. Kitchen facilities were spot on and there is ample space outside to sunbathe and chill. We're already looking at booking our next stay here. Absolute paradise.

Verified reviewThe host was exceptionally nice and helpful, providing a personal touch that made my stay even more enjoyable. The accommodation let me feel the real vibe of genuine Malta, immersing me in the local culture and charm. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and well taken care of.
One of the bedrooms was a bit too dark. It would be great if the light bulbs were replaced with stronger ones to improve the lighting.

The view is amazing and it was very nice to have your coffee on the terrace in the morning and then swim in peace in your private pool :) The host was extremely nice and kind, he answered all my messages immediately and helped me with valuable tips. Gozo is a beautiful island, and you are guaranteed a good holiday in this accommodation. I strongly recommend!

Verified reviewVery nice house in a quiet residential area. The view from the terraces is fantastic. The living room is a bit chilly in winter, but there is a gas stove. You can walk to Victoria and there are plenty of restaurants there. Thomas is the perfect host. He gave us good tips on restaurants and walks to do.
It would be nice if there could be a basic supply of salt, pepper, sugar, etc. in the kitchen so that not every guest has to buy these things themselves for the short stay.
